Such a great movie with an amazing cast and it worked!, this is one of my go to movies to watch and I've lost track of how many times I've watched it. Seeing a young Kevin Costner playing a goofy kid was awesome.
You don’t let your rigging go with the horse. As someone who has two saddles, one of which I have had since the late 90’s (and it was 30 years old when I got it) the other one I’ve had for about 5 years. And I don’t even own any horses right now, but those two saddles fit my ass and they the only two saddles I ever found that fit. Good saddle worth way more than the average horse. I forgot how much talent was in this movie.
It wasn't his rigging. You did watch the movie, right? Or were you scratching your saddle-sore ass during the informative parts? Nice butt story I guess.
This a movie that took me ages to watch right through. Nor want of trying but every time I tried something would come up and I’d have to leave it . Such a great movie
My five favorite westerns are as follows: 1. Silverado 2.The Man With The Gun 3. El Dorado 4. Destry Rides Again 5. Bend Of The River (Next 3 would be Pale Rider, Appaloosa, and High Noon)
before Costner starting taking himself so seriously. I loved this actor when it came out, but wish Kevin had stayed a little more like this character later on in films.
If he'd taken the saddle, it might have hindered his gun hand speed/accuracy. Considering the hostile company surrounding him at that moment; I'd say the saddle was expendable.
This is the movie that made me love Westerns. (I grew up on 1950's TV Westerns and Republic Serials, that dehuminsized aboriginal peoples and glorified the poor god-fearing white settlers.) Silverado was something new in showing all the warts.

To this day, I still don't understand what Slick was going to do with that knife of his. Was he going to intervene on the unarmed Paden's behalf against Tyree? It's not as if Tyree needed any help.
One of the best westerns of all time. Except the shoulder pads ... they should have left that 80s crap out. Jeff Goldblum looked, as if he had a clothes rack under his jacket.
With regret and respect at the same time, brandonnadeau1146, I must disagree. It was full of cliches but it was not awful. It was well executed and didn't cover any new ground. But it was shot with fun, with audience amusement as its goal - and it succeeded.
@@kegginstructure while I agre with your points, put up against Tombstone, which came out right around the same time, this movie is horrid. The only redeeming scene is when Jake walks backwards out of the saloon and guns down the two at the same time.
@@alangroskreutz235 Silverado (1985) and Tombstone (1993) are more than eight years apart. Perhaps you're thinking of Wyatt Earp (1994) by the same director as Silverado and also with Kevin Costner?
This movie was done in the tradition of the old westerns and for that reason, I think it actually hit the mark. According to the audiences at the time, this movie was a big hit.
I remember the first time I saw this. Such a great movie with such a great cast. It's a shame hardly anyone seems to know about it.
I love this western.
Agree...this is a GREAT movie!
Loved the chemistry between Kline and Hunt.
Silverado, one of my top 5 westerns. Just got to mention Quigley Down Under in the same breath.
Mine too. Love Quigley Down Under & Silverado. Pale Rider and Josey Wales are probably in my top 5 too.
Best film for someone new to Westerns. It has many of the classic tropes.
Best line:
“Today my jurisdiction ends here.”
And then later, he plays the one British guy who found himself in a magical Asian type setting. No joke. :)
Someone gave the Fly a Gun
"I'm not from around these parts you know."
Pick up my hat.
"It's hard on the peace, and it's hard on the furniture"
As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best westerns ever made. I was just talking about this movie with a coworker yesterday.
Such a great movie with an amazing cast and it worked!, this is one of my go to movies to watch and I've lost track of how many times I've watched it. Seeing a young Kevin Costner playing a goofy kid was awesome.
One of the best movies ever!
Saw it in the theater. Still love it to this day.
Jeff Fahey and those CRAZY EYES.
Quel magnifique film et oui un casting de grand luxe, belle réalisation et une photographie au top 👍 À faire découvrir !

Yep, the scene bugs me every time I see it.
You do if you're sending a message. The problem was that Ethan didn't get the message.
It belonged to the guy sent to kill Emmett, not Jake.

Im not a horse guy and I was just watching this and thinking wait a min youd be taking off the tack before handing that horse to the guy!
1880s gunplay meets 1980s shoulderpads

They couldn’t have fit more stars in this movie if they had used a shoehorn.
I forgot just how good this movie was....now I think i'll see the full film.

Before this was a movie called Fandango. Costner was way less serious in that movie.
Jeff Fahey (Tyree) is, in my opinion, an underrated actor. Never seen a bad performance by him.
Big plot hole when they took the horse. The saddle and kit wasn't part of the horse. Still, it was a fun movie.
The kit belonged to the guy sent to kill Emmett, not Jake.
@@rapid13 Otherwise I would have expected Jake to protest losing his saddle.
I wouldn’t let him take my saddle. But that’s Hollywood.
I assumed the saddle came with the horse.

This is my second favorite movie.
This movie is a classic homage to westerns. Another great one is Grand Canyon❤❤
Great Western. Even the tumbleweed shows up on cue.
If ever someone had made a film out of the DEATHWORLDERS books... She would've been perfect for tge role of Margarite.
I've heard good things about this movie but never got around to watching it. Good cast
How underrated is this movie
I love that woman and this show.
How have I never seen this.
People in the old West were sure good looking and clean!
It's a romanticized fictional tale; not a documentary. Calm down, turbo.
watch out for the outro that will DESTROY ear drums
Brian Dennahy was great.
Kevin kline looking like Robin Williams with a full beard
Good observation chief
We finally know who Beetleguise was when he was alive
It's not my favorite movie, but I've enjoyed it every time I've seen it and it doesn't get the recognition it warrants.
nice contradiction
Given the reactions I wonder if the "Dog sprung me" was improv

This was a film that had promise, but just didn't deliver. Hard to put my finger on what it was, but it just didn't work.
Jeff Goldblum was out of place in this movie. Awful. The rest of the cast was awesome!
I though Jeff was really good as a card player, he sure was a fancy dress for bring out west.
Nonsense. Goldblum was perfect in this role.
Idk... It was interesting to see Goldblum in the role of a sleazeball character.
AFAIC Jeff Goldblum is out of place in everything he's ever been in.
