I hope the lesson has been learnt that spares should be given specific roles, duties and places in the monarchy; also that they should not be the 'poor cousins' dependent on alms from the monarch's purse. I think King Charles made a touching speech and has done well to confer new titles for Prince William and Kate. They are the future of the monarchy and the future looks bright!
