Yep. The 777's have always basically been a 747 without the upper deck, and obviously 2 extra-large engines. Their fuselage have roughly the same length and same diameter.
@@ronaldcharan2705 it only has bigger engines but the 74 has 4 lol 4 GEnx engines are more powerful than two GE90s 😂😂😂 and the wingspan is definitely not longer lol nothing about this aircraft is bigger than the 747 especially not the 8i 😂😂

A simply stunning aeroplane, I've always love 777s and this, with the larger engines, looks just incredible. The retractable winglets are just something else
What an absolutely GORGEOUS aircraft. You can see that the newer engines are bigger and i love the retractable winglets. Considering the wings are longer and it's easier for them when they are parked at a gate getting in and out etc...Looking forward too flying on one of these in the near future. It will be a nice replacement for the 777-300ER.
If there were ever an emoji that would represent the pilot's face being pushed all the back to his or her medulla oblongata, this would be the time for it. My heavens! That airplane is a beast! What an amazing video! Thank you for sharing :-)
That's a nice catch! Would you be okay with me featuring this in an episode of Weekly Dose of Aviation? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description.
The plane can’t fly with the wing tips folded, and that’s what happened at 1:55, they tested trying to do takeoff power with wingtips folded but the airplane rejects it.
Its a trailing cone to measure a few things. Static pressure for one and it is in its retracted position on the ground but goes further away from the plane in the air.
Amazing jet, the Boeing 777 X, Since his brother the Boeing 777. Unique style. A very reliable plane. You don´t need to fly the Airbus-380 or even the 747. This jet can do it !
Proof is in the fact that it ate into the 747/A340/A380/MD11 market share and effectively helped kill them off. In my heart of hearts, I wish the world was still full of 747's, A340's and MD11's...ESPECIALLY the A340, she was truly beautiful.
I often wonder if these tests are full load tests. Do they have every seat occupied with a full luggage onboard? Or is it just the test pilots on board?
No they aren't "fully loaded in the traditional sense. They do have a system to load and balance the plane inside where the seats should be along with a ton of equipment to monitor the different aspects of the performance of the plane etc.
@@Cingearth I do not have a Type rating for the 777. However, the aircraft will likely be aerodynamically capable of flying. I doubt whether the wingtips are able to withstand the forces in their position. But I do not know for sure. In the worst case, they may break off and damage other parts of the aircraft. In addition, the takeoff calculation for the start would be invalid with them still up. If the wingtips do not break off, the fuel consumption would increases significantly.
No TIA yet. Also with the 737 max crisis and some other stuff still hanging over everyone's head, the FAA is doing things very much by the book. They might even be going hard on Boeing due to the 2 year 737 max debacle that made the FAA look like morons. That slows things down quite a lot. As it just so happens, concealing information about an airplane system and lying to your regulator is not a good idea. This is especially true when faulty software kills almost 350 people and makes your regulators look like a group of idiots. That is also a way to get those same people to come back with a vengeance, and a considerable chip on their shoulders. Especially if software that killed about 350 people is only the first failure they uncovered. 2025 is rather optimistic for an expected launch imho.

Probably the greatest airliner Boeing ever build. It's a shame, mismanagement and corporate greed took them down the path of the 737-Max and 787 fiascos
The 747 would like a word with you. Give it time, I think the MAX will end up like the DC10, shaky start but ironed out the kinks and had a long career. IMO the 787 is still close to a masterpiece. To be fair, the A350 is utter perfection and that doesn't help the optics. But hopefuly the 777X carries on the next chapter of the greatest widebody twin ever made.
I wish they had kept up with that trend. Even if they found a way to not require them, they still looked cool. But I guess the 777X has the folded wings as its signature look on the ground.
Southwest will buy them for their upcoming transatlantic service. They'll fold up two 737s, place them in the 777X, fly to Heathrow, then fly the 737s to destination. It'll be great.
777 is gorgeous. Immediately recognizable. Huge engines, tiny tale. 3 axle main gear. A visual delight!
