It's hard to not 'like' Aegon, even if you are on Team Black: he is emotionally vulnerable young man, he was neglected by his father, abused by his mother, forced to marry woman whom he doesn't love, self-aware enough to know he shouldn't be king, and he was also very empathethic towards his subjects, trying help them, when they were coming with requests, and he is also shown to be loving father. All those thing make my heart to have sympathy to him - but he is still usurper, still incompetent in his rule and in addition he is unnecessary cruel, as when he kills every ratcatcher. Not to mention things he did when he was still prince - abusing his servant and supporting children fights in city. He also indirectly abused his younger brother by taking him to b****el when Aemond was only 13 (and Aemond didn't seem very cheerful about it, when he remembered it). Aegon is human, so of course he has sides we all can relate to - but ultimately he is both bad man and bad ruler, despite all things that cause us to have sympathy to him. 🤷🏻♂
We don't know whether Cole was supposed to guard Halaena and her kids that night. But in any case, he is the lord commander of the king's guard, so he is in charge of the safety of the Red Keep as a whole. He should have ensured *someone* was protecting them. And also, that murderers don't walk around freely lol

So lets wait and see how it turns in the end, to decide if it was a good adaptation, or happens the same as in GOT.

I am team black and as much as I hate Otto I respect him for standing up for all the innocents that was murdered by Aegon's command. It is actually funny how Otto realized they made a mistake by putting Aegon on the throne. And he had no problem murdering innocent lords that was loyal to Rhaenyra to get Aegon on the throne.

Biss, we cannot trust 100% the book because was written by a meister many years after the events and also because all (?!...) died to tell the real story ( spoiler but we all know :D )... so... only George RR Martin knows whats the real story behind this big mess that was the Dance. The book is amazing yes, but the show is giving many other things way better and is going into levels of excellence in acting and storytelling!! Better than I espected as a book reader and fan of this world created by George!
