I can definitely give you a bit of the history behind this vehicle. My dad bought it. He passed in April and we sold it to D&H. My husband tried to have them call you to come look at it. We love watching you!
My favorite Aunt had a 1965 Chrysler New Yorker 2dr hardtop Sport Yellow, black interior with bucket seats , family owned an upholstery shop , so it had a leopard print vinyl top , my dad owned a muffler shop , so she had dual exhaust with glasspaks. She would race anything and everything . She special ordered a 1973 Plymouth Sattlelite Sebring Plus , with a slapstick shifter so she could drag race it , at 66yrs old she had a red 1987 Iroc Z 5.7 ttops , that she raced every weekend at local east texas race tracks , she was always the crowd favorite at every track , I miss my Aunt Mary, she was one of a kind
Chrysler had a hot system . My uncle had a 68 New Yorker & he kept a ceramic fuse/relay on hand... They're on the firewall of most mopars of that era... Those NYer's had power to spare & they rode like like a dream.. Like sitting on your sofa in your living room cruising at 80 mph...
Yea, the New Yorkers used them in the fall to cruise I95 down to Florida for winter. They never used the right lane. The left lane was theirs. Cruised about 85 mph.
That there is a sweet ride once you take a ride in that thing down the highway your going to fall in love with it and it being a 1968 makes it even better
Excellent barn find Chrysler. You noted that suspension system, which if I recall correctly, was a patented comfort-ride torsion system suspension that they created in the 50s. Instead of coil springs like FORD and GM that caused increased body roll and sway under at speed turns on turns it hard braking, Chrysler Corporation created a system that prevented these handling issues. Plus I believe in the 60s Chrysler started going unit-body versus frame on body set-up, which hadn't been done since their Chrysler Airflow model. Had it not been for the EPA mandates that choked up so many vehicles under the hood, Chrysler Corporation would've stayed higher up in quality in the Big 3 quality innovations. You can not compression test an engine that has sat for decades until you can get afew heat cycles through the engine because rings will stick. Brother in law bought an early 80s ford Fairmont i believe. 6k original miles in an old ladies garage. Thing was mint as mint could get. He's gets it cleaned up, fluids breaks etc. Maroon 4 door, bench front and back. We go to a car show and he doesn't feel like walking. My mother drove a 69 two door , green with black bucket seats and a floor shifter. It was really cool. Got rear ended and shoved into a pole and totaled in the summer of 71 .

Puddin, do you know the hydrogen peroxide trick for cleaning valves? Pull the coil wire, then it's simply pouring some hydrogen peroxide down the carb, and letting it sit for 30 minutes, then crank it for 30 seconds. Then hook up the coil wire and get it running, and while it's running, slowly pour the rest of the hydrogen peroxide down the carb. You would be amazed at how clean you can get the valves doing this.
I enjoyed you working on a really well preserved old barge. Just one thing: measuring plug wire resistance -- A low reading of ohms (or zero) means it's a really GOOD connector.
