Funny enough I just bought the Sentinel and didn’t know about the gen 2. I was bummed at first, but tbh, after watching this, I may just keep the Sentinel gen 1. This one *definitely* looks more durable, and I know that’s been a concern with gen 1, so that’s good to see the improvement. BUT one of the biggest reasons I bought the Sentinel was its size and low profile. I have a Shield Plus, which has a very slim slide. Most RMSc dots are 1.0” think (or more), but the Sentinel is closer to 0.9”. The gen 2 definitely looks thicker, so I imagine it’d overhang the sides a noticeable amount. Also, I prefer being able to co-witness with the stock night sights. I can barely do that with the Sentinel gen 1, and this definitely looks thicker on the bottom, so I imagine there’s no shot. Yes, this will have the integrated rear sight, but you still wouldn’t be able to see the front sight unless you replace it with a taller front sight. Anyway, great insight here!
Well as of today (July 17) Swampfox customer service says there’s still no set release date for the Sentinel 2. They said they hope sometime this fall.
My only issue with my og sentinel, the brightness adjustments go from a nice dim, indoor use dot brightness, to one click up and it's blown out. And I know it's blown out due to my astigmatism, but it would be nice to have a couple lower level settings before it blows out. Other than that, I welcome the larger glass.
Is the footprint the same? I just ordered ordered the original one today. I feel like sending it back when I get it now and waiting a few months for the new one to release. I like the bigger window. It’s going on my MP5 clone.
I want to buy American made optics but I have to say they still aren’t competing with the EPS Carry…. I need an enclosed, shake awake, 3-6 MOA adjustment with a solar option (Not a huge deal). Some would say I’m on the prepper side of things as I would much rather have all around reliable gear that has the durability and dependability through various scenarios. My kits are built on what if or when it happens scenarios. I don’t base my CC off of everyday life but a sort of bug out type deal because if at any point I go from city to the woods everything I have must be applicable in both situations. I don’t know if anything I said makes any sense to anybody but I’m willing to pay good money for quality and variety whilst not overloading myself with multiple attachments because one is meant for the other.
Definitely understandable but not everyone has that mindset unfortunately, eventually I see a ton of companies going towards that lane SFO is still making movements to compete like they are I see them releases something like that una. Couple of years hopefully
I believe it’s releasing this summer or fall from what Tyler mentioned in the interview and this is much more rugged from what I can tell in person window is huge and the body is much more reinforced
Wow, this looks like the most bomb proof optic of its size class. Hopefully Sage Dynamics does a drop test! They executed the integrated rear iron sight perfectly as well. Doesn’t obstruct the sight picture, but still very useable I would totally buy this if the 507k ACSS didn’t come out. It’s my go-to reticle for CCW. But this thing is undeniable, especially the window size: is it noticeably bigger than the 507k? It looks amazing too; way more appealing than any of their current lineup
It’s about the same size as the 507k the window is larger and there is a bit more material but it was not like a huge difference in a bad way, I wasn’t like dang this is going to be to much it seems like the perfect open emitter
i want to buy a Swampfox sight, but honestly the EPS Carry seems like the better option. I much rather replace the battery every year than have to go through the trouble of re-torquing screws and possibly having to zero the gun again. And the EPS Carry has up to 50,000 with a side mount option. I'm also concerned about the videos where if in very dark areas, or if the light sensor on the Sentinel A is covered dims the dot until invisible. What draws me to the swamp fox is I heard the service, for the most part is great. For now I'll probably get an EPS Carry for my M&P Shield, but I plan on still buying that big boy, The Kraken with Picatinny rail adapter for my home defense shotgun.
So disappointing.tottaly missed the mark ..now we get a big chunky red dot I’m sorry there’s absolutely nothing to get excited about just disappointing with Swampfox all the other companies making some crazy Mad stuff swamp fox goes with big and chunky
I would definitely say wait until you can get your hands on one in comparison it would be right around the same size as the EPS carry it’s just not a closed emitter

There were talks of adjust packages for the sights from what I remember

Yeah, they told me June or July months ago and still nothing.
I'd rather change my battery every 6 months to a year without having to re-zero my optic, than to do so every year or so AND have to re-zero.

I have noticed this in some of the early gen dots, I can assure you it seems fixed in this new series
WE NEED THIS SOON!!!
Missed the mark could have did a second pane of glass with all that space

it is the same footprint , and it wouldnt hurt to have a back up
The built in co witness sights is cool. Will they come with a matching front post as welll?
There was no need when seeing them but I’m sure if they implement the different height ones there will be

When is it available ... I have the Sentinel currently on a SA Hellcat ... no bueno ... will this one hold up better???
I believe it’s releasing this summer or fall from what Tyler mentioned in the interview and this is much more rugged from what I can tell in person window is huge and the body is much more reinforced
No bueno as in it already broke on you?
Bottom battery tray is a deal killer for me...I have the Justice it's a great optic...I'll wait for the Justice 2
Yea it will be for a lot of people but we have dealt with it before and to keep that 50k hours I think it’s worth it but just my opinion
When will these be out for purchase? Was thinking about getting a Sentinel. But this one looks ever better.
Also looks like it will be offered with a green dot which would be awesome
This is what I want to know. Not much other info.
They told me June or July months ago and I got tired of waiting.

They must be having some issues with it. Sentinel 2 still hasn't been released. Doesn't show up on their website.
It’ll be here soon 😈😈😈

Depends on what you are looking for. Some of us like bigger windows and rugged durable builds. If you want smaller options just get a rmrcc
