    1. Do quality work you can be proud of
    2. Have fun at work
    3. Always strive to master your craft

Kind of ironic that even if everything had gone right the fact that the brackets were for 6" x 6" and not the 8" x 8" that was needed. So next time we should see the decking. Once again Arlo is the MVP, a lifetime of building knowledge is an amazing thing to have. Great post keep safe and well guys 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨

The best channel on RUclips, next to yours, is Sampson Boat Co and the rebuilding of the famous Tally Ho! Leo and his band of shipwrights are doing a great job, and you can learn all about fairing a boat!

Your comments on the “my wife says I dress like a bum” is so spot on! My wife has been telling me this for years, and she complained that her father (RIP) was a sloppy dresser and her mom had to get after him! So funny, truly, and it sounds fairly universal. Good thing we all have enough clothing to choose from, which, from the small closets in older homes, wasn’t a thing that long ago. People only had a dress shirt and a work shirt, or two, and women had one dress for Sunday meeting and one for house work. Things have changed in a couple of generations in a huge way. We are spoilt.

Way to keep it real Arlo. Looking at your work clothes, they look very comfortable to me. I would keep wearing that shirt. Heck it’s clean and still does what you need it to do.

You can stagger the blocking to let you nail through the stud into the endgrain of the block. Put a mark at 5’, one above the line and the next below. Easier to keep things flush as well

I love that you guys show mistakes. Honestly, most of us live in the 'real world & unfortunately we do make mistakes but far too many people (especially you tubers) hide all that to make them "Look Good" Mistakes can be the best teachers which is what taught me many things especially as I didn't have a father around. Those who don't make mistakes don't try things so don't achieve anything. I figure if you make mistakes you are having ago which is more than some can say. Love your work as usual!! (geez, I miss the building game!!)

I got a tip for when it comes time to cut the bottom plate of the door ways.
Before standing the wall and or building the wall , take a saw set the depth to 3/4-1” and make a cut on the bottom of the bottom plate where the door ways are. That way when they are stood up and in place you can easily take a sawzall and finish the cut. Less chance of hitting the sub floor with the blade. Idk if that’s understandable or not.

I really enjoy your channel and can't wait for the next episodes. I love the step by step and explanations and how you guys all work together and get along so well. I grew up on all the home shows on TV but they never gave you enough information or how to. I was hooked on the first video so I went back and started at the very beginning of your channel. I'm a little bit of a handyman and do a lot of projects I've gotten a lot of good ideas and helpful tricks from you guys thanks. RUclips channels like yours is going to bring an end to the DIY channels on TV. Heck most of my favorite shows are on RUclips now. It takes special people to make a good channel and not everybody can do it. I know it's a lot of hard work but You make Working and filming look easy. I've seen the work of some pretty bad contractors over the years but I feel you guys care and build quality solid homes. From what I can tell if I were to ever need a new home built I'd definitely want someone like you guys building it.

That’s a whole lot of prep work, but the landscape sure makes it more difficult for just about everything you do around the outside of this build. Jamie: the concrete wall looks great. If you can find it, try some sardines with Mediterranean spices. It’s really a flavor filled tin of goodness. I could eat fish for just about every meal if it wasn’t so expensive. I also enjoy having snacks like that, but I usually put the fish on Ritz crackers or something with a little flavor like olive oil with rosemary.

When I'm framing a door opening in a wall, I always cut the bottom plate with a 1/2" kerf on the underside of the door rough opening...this makes it easy to remove the bottom plate piece with a Sawzall without scarring up the floor sheathing.

What you call blocking are called noggins here in Aus and they have to be every 1200mm from the ground up.
So a 3000mm wall needs one at 1200 and another at 2400, adding rigidity.
It helps with plastering (drywall for you neanderthals) when sheets are 1200mm wide.

I'm really excited to see how this project comes out. I have been a fan of your show for a very long time and your channel is one of the few that I haven't lost interest in. Here's a little life hack when mixing powdered drink mixes, like Beam, in water. Sometimes it's a little hard to incorporate the powder into a full cup of liquid, so if you mix a little liquid with the powder to make a syrup and then add the rest of the liquid and stir it blends easer and makes the drink much smoother.
