I like how this obviously plays for the False Knight, but also the Watcher Knights. The Watcher Knights are the reanimated corpses of the knights that guarded Lurien. This makes them, in other words, False Knights.
exactly, they once were proud warriors, but now are hollow shells of the noble heroes they once they used to be.
watcher knights are the armor and weapon, the infection is tthe maggot, makes a lot of sense

At some point I was screaming at the screen just how many left? I was relieved after winning I didn't have to fight the others of these creatures in the background

As a first boss, False Knight NAILS the role. His attack pattern his simple, every mistake you make actually feels like your fault, he's not hard as balls, and his design nails that of a first boss. His huge, hulking mass that is his armour covering his much smaller true form. Also, this dude's FUCKING HUGE. If there's a good first boss, it's this one.
He has lore too. He stole the armor from Hegemol, one of the Five Knights of something I dont remember.

I honestly thought the first boss was the big husk mob enemy that watched over one of the grubs(due to his size and the intense music when you first encounter him) of caurse he his smaller in comparision to false knight but he does seemed like a boss or at least a mini boss...

This is really an underrated soundtrack, honestly.
It's because the Watcher Knights are very similar to the False Knight in the fact that they're something that they're not. Just empty shells controlled by lesser beings.
You were too busy suffering with watcher knights to hear the theme.

Failed Champion and False Knight are hella easy, so easy that a primal aspid such as yourself should be able to destroy the maggot

@@frosbeechill they have states immune to non-soul damage. Also they have 10 times as much health as a Primal Aspid. They can jump really high, and roll quickly.
@@PrimitiveAspid That is true... then again, I beat them on a randomizer with nail 1 and no shaman stone, plus no void spells.
I felt really bad for this guy after beating the Dream Nail variant and hearing him talk about how he just wanted the strength to protect his friends, which the Hunter's journal refers to as food provisions for long journeys and says "If they try to bargain for their lives, ignore them. They have nothing to offer."
... Especially feels bad since I had to murder his friends to get that journal entry.
Same. Got this game recently and went back there to search for more treasure. Found them hidden and killed them without a second thought. I immediately felt bad afterwards when I realized they weren't fighting back and I just killed them for no reason. Had no idea about his thoughts using the dream nail and that makes it even more sad
@@ProunceProudly At the same time, they were infected with the radiant sickness. They didn't seem to become violent because of it, unlike most creatures that were infected, but you can see it when they die. So perhaps in the end it was a kindness.

@@shardes They do release infection when they die, but none of the maggots have orange eyes or cysts, or really anything remotely orange.
I didn't even kill them in my run.

Underrated piece honestly. If you're a musician and haven't seen the music sheets for this, you should give them a look. They're nuts.

Fun fact: The ending of this theme can be heard after defeating many other battles and a couple other bosses too, Such as the Soul Master in getting his ability.

The theme song of poor little macebug getting his brain getting smashed to hell and back by the false knight.
1:10 is one of the many reasons this game is an absolute masterpiece
it works for false knight, but watcher knights really deserve thier own theme, especially since theyre an important, difficult boss.
They have the same theme because the Watchers and the False Knight are both suits of armor being manipulated by smaller beings

Wow, these time signatures are insane here. There are certain parts of the soundtrack that are either in 3/4 or 6/4 (I can't always tell) and it even has one part in 9/4 time signature.

1:29 is where it hits hard
False knight for me was the moment that sold me on the game, the boss was surprisingly fun and felt quite challenging at first, but slowly you start to realise his patterns, adjust to it and defeating him after multiple tries. It basically teaches you how boss fights will go from here on out, and it actually made bosses exiting, but still scary, to encounter

I like how both the False Knight and Watcher Knights have a tie to the City of Tears (Hegimal’s City Crest and Watchers being knights of Lurien). As such I like to think of this song as the theme meant for “Defenders of the City”, minus Dung Defender since he guarded the waterways and Soul Master since that wasn’t really his job.
