- Gday and welcome to foord offroad
In this video I show how to fit aftermarket upper control arms to a Toyota Hilux
This is the same procedure for most IFS vehicles
Also the same if you are putting in adjustable arms
The arms I’ve used are black hawk and are ADR compliant
When purchasing major parts like this make sure they are adr compliant before buy
After the install you NEED a wheel alignment

What size are your strut spacers mate? Any issues with the shock integrity? And should do a video on how to change/install strut spacers!

Thanks mate, I havnt had an issue with the shocks bending like some people do, they are a 40mm spacer and give a fair amount of lift
@@foordoffroad8915aren’t they bad tho cause they don’t bottom out on the bump stops?
@@noahforbes8884 there is no downtravel bump stop on a Hilux, the downtravel is limited buy the shock and up travel bump is the same as standard

@@Godzilla-R check on my channel, I have a Hilux front strut install video, I strut spacers are that exact video but you bolt to spacer to the strut before you install it

Hay fella love your videos very helpful, just like to know can you have these control arms if you have a off set mag rim, I think -11 off set?? Will it hit on the inner side wall or have plenty of room still

How many degrees was the uca mate?
Cool video, I have Blackhawk UCAs in my N80 Hilux. Wheel alignment guy said with my 2” lift it was still on the limit of the adjustments possible. Scratching my head what to do next
Thanks, id recommend taking it to another wheel alignment place, in the video I said “I’ll take it to the alignment shop” but that also happens to be where I work haha anyway and with 3-4” lift there is still a fair amount of adjustment on both camber/caster bolts
Foord Offroad thanks mate, think I will do that as it is still pulling slightly to the left. I heard Pedders are pretty good with Alignments. What do you think?
Pedders is a well known brand, and I’d reckon they’d know what they are doing considering they sell suspension but it doesn’t really matter what brand name shop it is, more depends on what training the person doing the alignments has had

He is right 2" is just in the limits of adjustment :)
I have a 2.5" lift on my 2012 hilux and its making a squeal noise from the front im not sure if its the new brakes or that...
Great video, thanks for sharing. My Blackhawks arrived today, going to install tomorrow. Just a question about the spacers, the kit came with 8. Did you use all of them?
Yeah mine had 8 as well I just used 4 of them though
Just done mine today thanks for vid ,I managed to get all spacers in just a little tension with a large flat head or tyre lever was enough to push the rubber bushes across enough to slide them in ,now to add the sticker 😉

Thanks, I have 2” Lift and a spring spacer, in the video it’s 40mm spacer but have since changed it to a 15mm spacer
Ends up at 3”front and 2” rear
The front rotors are dba slotted rotors
Hey mate, great video. Was just about to order adjustable upper control arms for a little less scrub with my 33’s and 2inch lift. I know these help with the coil but would it also help with the scrubbing issue on the standard control arm
May help a little but scrubbing on the top arm is usually caused by the rims not being a big enough offset, but if you get too big of an offset then you’ll have to do the body mount chop to be able to steer full lock
@@foordoffroad8915 Cheers mate, and while I’ve got you, what height do your jack stands go to? There’s a few cheaper ones out on the market but I don’t think for 440ml will cut it.
Mine go up to about 600, made them myself for working on my patrol
If you can’t get ones high enough you might have to jack it up and take the wheel off and then lower it onto the stand with the wheel off

Put these arms in mine and whenever I go into a driveway they knock!! :(
does the uca hit the spring on full droop ?
The original one did but the new ones don’t
