Guys, just stop complaining about things like:
"just buy a pc or something"
"what's the point"
"The monitor is HDMI, just use a usb c monitor! "
The answer to some of those question is that she might not want to spend more money just for an monitor that has usb c. And an adapter is much cheaper. And she is using an iPad as a pc because, it allows her to do whatever she wants but in a huge screen. And when she needs to go somewhere, she doesn't need to bring the whole thing like a pc, she just grabs the iPad and it's ready to go.

Yeah, people just don't understand, smh. There are jobs out there that require an ipad (or a tablet) more than a pc. Mine being one of them 🗿
you can buy mini pc, and use your apple tablet for other things

As a med student I am very low on budget and with what I’m capable of spending. I just got an iPad Air 5th Gen this year before med school started because it is so easy to carry around and great for multitasking. I have zero complaints.
Only difference is that it isn’t as big as a regular desktop computer. Studying for hours at a time does put a strain on my vision.
However I have been seeing this alternative come up a lot and I find that these monitors are actually obtainable and in a friendly price range !
I also saw cute little keyboards to add to this so I’m looking forward to going this route !

Indeed there are affordable monitors, which I suggest you try out first with your iPad before buying. I saw comments in my other iPad with monitor videos that some monitors don’t work. Good luck in med school!

@@Raha-q5t You need an iPad with atleast M1 chip. And even after that you have to enable stage manager in settings.
When you enter a game for example roblox or smth the movement works on the keyboard as if its a laptop or pc right?

Ah no, you can use every ipad, but the m1 and m2 allow you to open in full screen on a monitor

I have used ipad air 4, ipad pro 11 inch 2020, 2021, ipad mini 6, ipad pro 2017 10,5 inch. You can export via HDMI. But the stage manager on m1/m2 allow you to open "full screen" on external monitor. While others chip only allow screen mirroring@@shubhambhatia8504

Try changing the settings in laptop to "do nothing when laptop flap is down"

Can it function as a desktop by connecting to a monitor? Understand the aspect ratio of an ipad is 4:3 vs a monitor's 16:9. Then theres mirroring only and audio restrictions?

that’s why macs are a scam. Just get a windows pc or laptop and connect it to a monitor or if u like iOS just connect a phone or iPad using this method

Ive a m1 ipad since i updated i can not longer do that. I also have ipados 16
now it’s iPadOS 17. try updating the software then maybe it’ll work? 🤔

I have been seeing some feedback in Apple community that the M1 iPads don’t work after the iPadOS 16 update. Is yours still not working until now? or did the update on iPadOS 17 fix the issue?

The Apple Sticker at the Backsite is that a sticker or do you coloured ? Looks nice i wish i had the same on my White Magic Keyboard.

At this point, i would do everything on a server, on the LAN.. remote into the machine from anywhere you are at, only carry a thin device for desktop usage

Hello I have ipad pro 12.9 M1, external support doesn't work i'm on ipad os 16.4
I've used 2 different dongle and monitor but it doesn't work 🥲 it's not even recognizing the usb C i plugged in. Can you help?
Maybe the monitor is not supported? Is it an hdmi or usb-c monitor? If yes, you might want to check the specs in Apple’s website for their supported monitors n
its hp and lg, theyre both hdmi only, so i used dongle. from hdmi to usb c. Upon checking on the web, it should be compatible with any other USB-C dongle as well, and not just thunderbolt. Bizarre thing about it is my friend who uses iPad Pro 12.9 fourth generation so it’s not an M1 c connects the same dongle and monitor, and it works fine, but on the in the mirror mode and not extension since it’s not M1.
However, my iPad can detect the dongle and all the peripherals that I connect on it, such as USB in LAN cable except for the HDMI with two dongles already this is sad.
@@hansmagat3106I have the same issue… I use a dell monitor. Still showing up with black bars.
Maybe be better to check with Apple support why your M1 iPad Pro is not working on an external display, as it should be. Try as well to plug in the charger and maybe it just needs more power to be able to connect to the monitor. Just guessing really, so checking with Apple is the best way to go. Good luck 👍🏼

I agree, i love my USB C monitors. That said, good usb-c monitors cost more than their hdmi counterparts. LG 27UP850 W is the best 4k 27" usb c monitor (without going into the crazy expensive HDR / OLED / Thunderbolt territory)
@@goJesusandStarcraft I would recommend usb c too, but I usually use like an Android TV, pc, etc. And I use my iPad often too, so it is better to just buy the adapter.
