**Update:** The iO10 has now launched in the USA. I CAN'T RECOMMEND YOU BIUY IT.
The retail price is $400. Although marginally better value than the UK, it is still $80-100 more than the comparably featured iO Series 9.
The iOSense stand (currently exclusive to the iO10) isn't worth any more than about a $40 premium.
Does the base even charge the brush when not cable-connected? I've heard it doesn't and simply doesn't make sense for the now detachable wire if you cannot charge the base, then disconnect, and use said base as standalone charger for the brush . . .
@@Mister.Unknown The iO Sense charging stand/base must be connected to the power outlet to function. It cannot function or recharge the toothbrush without a constant connection to the power supply.

Yeah I opted for the io 9 because I think the 10 is overpriced, the 9 and 10 are the same other than the charger, you can get the info that you could get using the io sense stand in the app.
I’ve just purchased the iO 10 on Amazon in the US, and it offered a $40 discount, making it $360 (not including tax).

I bought it and love brushing now, I'm sure over time I will have saved $400 in dental bills by my change in hygiene
Given the strong similarity to the IO9, I am guessing that they plan to offer the charging base as an upgrade in the future.
Hi Jon, I'm wondering if you can change the timer and pacer ⏲️ of the IO series 9 from 4x30 seconds to 6x20 seconds, which is better in my opinion ?
Thanks for your descriptive review. I think that Oral B should just offer an upgrade path from the io9 to io10, since the only difference is the charging base.

A non-replaceable battery in these Oral-B toothbrushes can easily last 10 years if well taken care of (keep charge between 20%-80%), so I think it's less of an issue compared to most smart phones where you're lucky to get 3 years out of them.
I nust be extremely lucky then. My Galaxy S 8+ is 7 years and 4 months old and still going strong.
I have my iO 7 for... 2,5 years and I love it :D
The fact that the charging puck is alot bigger than the less advanced magnetic charger makes it even less justifiable

I just got the io9 thanks to you today and wondered if i should have waited for the 10. Luckily just went with my gut feeling :)
I got mine on Nov 3rd and I'm glad i did because before that i was really considering getting the IO 10 then it was released and realized it's not worth it. I got mine for around 200$ 50% off (400$ original price)

Well we all technically got ripped off because they released the much cheaper 4 five and six series for half the price which is basically the same toothbrush of course the scum bags would do something like that after selling their over priced models first.
The 4,5, and 6, don't use lithium batteries or the magnetic charger.

I found a iO 10 for just 300 pounds. I just ordered a iO 5 so I will hold off to it for 2~ years, and I will get it after that time.
What I actually did was the opposite. More context on my previous reply, but having already looked up the price of the IO 10, I looked at the main complaints of the video, and after seeing that it is just about the price, which is totally inaccurate, I immediately considered the iO 10. (Like I already said, I ordered a IO 5 just a few days prior, so I will only buy it after 2~ years.)

FYI, the io series battery is relatively easy to replace. At least more so than the previous non-io series.

Does the charging stand charge up to or does it have to be constantly plugged in? What if my our bathroom doesn’t have a socket?!
The stand itself has no battery. But you don't have to keep it connected to power. You could connect each time you brush or every so often. Depending on what you do might affect usability.
If I were to buy the series 10… can I buy any io brush head once I use up the first two that come with the toothbrush?

Hi! I appreciate your review. However, in my country the iO 9 and the iO 10 have a 10 euro difference in price (iO 9 is 240 Euros and iO10 is 250 euros). In such case, would it worth for such a small price difference to go for the iO 10 ?
Yes! Snap it up at that price. For €10 the stand is worth it.

Does the charging station needs to be plugged in at all times for it to work, or does it work by simply "charging" it and it goes empty after a while? Can someone say?
You need to have the charging stand plugged in every time you use the brush if you want the clock/lights/timer to be functioning. You don't have to have it plugged in between uses if you don't want to. But, it is designed to be plugged in all the time. You would need it plugged in for longer periods of time every couple of weeks to recharge the battery inside the iO10 brush handle.
I 100% agree with you, I opted for the 9 instead.

Yes. But that charging stand gives you the visual indication on how well you are brushing areas of the mouth, whereas other iO Series models do not.
So you guys prefer the Sonicare 9900 prestige over the iO series 9 and 10?
If you want a brush with all the features, then the Prestige is our preference when considering the whole package on offer.

I have no insider information to suggest they are. In all honesty, I would be surprised if they were intending to update it soon.

Haha you are right. There's a select few of us who wish they did. 😂 Sometimes we do get suggestions of new stuff coming. But truthfully they can't really clean your teeth that much better. Best to pick form what's available now rather than worry too much about what's coming. If we don't we will forever be waiting. 😁
The Oral B IO Series 9 & 10 Position detection has 16 zones instead of 6 zones. Maybe Oral B could create an Oral B IO Series 11 that would have a pacer with 16 zone pacer. That way a users would focus and take time on different tooth surfaces.
That's pretty much software based, so I think they could implement this on other bluetooth enabled models with a firmware update. However, I do want Oral-B to make a IO sense retrofit for other models.
@@BukuiZhao Yeah, Oral B should upgrade the update that way the app could either way for all the Bluetooth brushes that have smart tooth tracking.
@@BukuiZhao The Oral B app includes Pacer Selection(4 quadrant or 6 section), Brushing Timer, Position Detection(with front facing Camera), Position Detection(without front facing Camera), Position Detection with 6 zones, and Position Detect with 16 zones. However, It would be nice if Oral B update the to implement all these functions as options into the app settings. That way a user could add or remove what they want the brush to do.
However, I do have a idea for a IO 11. Include a larger touch display that also shows the 3d live tracking and more. Keep the IO sense but also sell it as a accessory add-on for the series 9 and below.
In addition, I also suggest a series 2 and 1. The 1 would only have daily clean, 2 would also have sensitive but are otherwise identical to the 3.
@@BukuiZhao Maybe in the future Oral B would create a IO Series 1 and Series 2. The Series 1 could have 1 cleaning mode, while the Series 2 could have 2 cleaning modes. Then the IO Series would be similar to the Pro Series. Pro Series has: includes models 1,000 to 10,000; while the IO Series only includes models: 3 to 10. However the Pro Series 4000 to 10,000 have bluetooth, while the 1000, 2000, and 3000 have no blue tooth. While to Series models 4 to 10 have bluetooth, while the series 3 model doesn't have bluetooth. So a Series 1 and Series 2 model won't have bluetooth either.

There isn't any easy way to tell for sure. We don't have data to say confidently one way or the other.
Oral-B and Sonicare tend to be fairly reliable. Both have problems form time to time but they are the biggest brands so it's inevitable. Probably get slightly fewer complaints about Oral-B.
Wait a second, the charging case does not hold an extra charge as it doesn't have a battery of its own? I still have to bring a plug and wire when traveling?
Correct.
No toothbrush cases have batteries inside. But, the better ones have USB-C ports rather than the proprietary adapter like Oral-B

I went ahead and bought the IO10 for 240 euro + some gentle care brushheads for 250 USD / euro including taxes and shipping. Will be my first electric toothbrush and I need some help with my brushing so hopefully the AI/IO will help me.
When the iO10 is cheaper the the iO9, go for the iO10 for sure! That's a very impressive price for that model.

The iO Sense charger.
It gives you feedback previously only available via the smartphone app. So you don't need your phone out to get that feedback.

@@ElectricTeethlooks like they have changed the app layout, because there is no ‘Your Brush’ under ‘More’
OK I have checked. Go to 'Devices'> scroll to the bottom and you have 'Preferences' under a heading your brushing system> it should then be at the top of the page when you click that preferences option.
What happens if you are missing teeth?
It doesn't account for this. It assumes you have them all. It's not a massive issue as you pass the brush over a gap etc, you can give it the impression you are brushing the missing tooth. This might be more difficult if you have lots of teeth missing.
6 sections pacer actually makes a users teeth feel and look cleaner than a 4 quadrant pacer. Since it actually adds more time to clean tooth surfaces.
How does it?
6 sections at 20 seconds each = 120 seconds/2 minutes
4 sections at 30 seconds each = 120 seconds/2 minutes
@@ElectricTeeth 4 quadrant at 30 seconds each is likely to buzz before completing the quadrant. While 6 section at 20 seconds each isn't likely to buzz before finishing a section. There will still be extra time to clean the section each section in 20 seconds.

I guess this really varies by person, but the fact that io9 is almost twice as loud as io10 alone could justify the price difference for me.

I had had one for 10 months and it DIED on me. It will charge all night and say 100% battery on it and it dies before 2 minutes of use, and goes completly to 0% charge. So cool app, cool charger but yes Expensive and it onlz lasted 10 months . :(
Sorry to read this. It should be covered under warranty. Get in contact with Oral-B and they should replace/repair for you.
This happened to my io8 too! Amazon/Braun replaced it upgrading to an io9, let's see how long this lasts!

more like my adhd needs it. the visual timer, the colors and zones. Not needing to pull out my phone to brush teeth which would be an extra step to not doing it. Still super expensive though.@@ElectricTeeth

The retail price does not justify the difference, although you will usually find ones for sale for much less. I found a iO 10 for 300 pounds for instance.
Basically, the retail price is 800 pounds, but you will find one for way less at around 400 pounds or less.
Czech Republic, iO 10 I buy for 6900,- CZK, it´s cca 230 GBP and it´s here cheaper than iO 9 series. So I decided for the 10 series.
