But we can see clearly if Donkey Kong was played on Mame or Original Hardware, so everyone don't try to submit video tapes of those to the leaderboards.

Don't worry. Only exceptionally stupid people would ever try to do that.

I’m really into emulation and I have most of the modern day emulators my personal favourites are
    SNES9x or BSNES
    PCSX2
    Duckstation
    RMG
    Mesen
This is a Great video on emulatoion and what we chose to use to current day emulation.
The N64 segment is where I would go for RMG instead of PJ64 for many reasons, I’m not going to use PJ64 because of that exploit.

Neat video, though you missed one thing for Virtual Boy, and that is the Red Viper Emulator for Modded Nintendo 3DS Consoles, which allows you to experience Virtual Boy in a form factor that doesn't cause headaches with full stereoscopic 3D maintained with 1:1 crisp pixels, and It's arguably the best way ever to play Virtual Boy games. It boasts 100% compatibility with all retail software and high compatibility with VB Homebrew.

12:36 I think Mesen has a big advantage due to the fan-made/compiled HD packs for popular roms. I don't think they work on other emulators.
26:15 Addition to the bonus segment: Fightcade 2. It's the easiest way to do netplay while having rankings (for pvp games) and, for some consoles, rollback netcode.

I never actually knew about either of these, so thanks for the info. On a similar note, Flycast has a netplay fork called Flycast Dojo which I only discovered a few days ago.

An extra bit of info for PS3/Xbox360 that might be helpful:
When it comes to emulating games on Xenia and RPCS3 certain games might not run well or have significant issues out of the gate that can be fixed with small tweaks to either settings or what version you're using. The official forums for these emulators will often have extra info that can help a lot when figuring out games like this, eg. Armored Core or Last of Us or Red Dead Redemption.

Just the video I needed, I am starting with emulation with my laptop and needed to know what emulators are around and are safe, so this tells me all.
Using Retrobat for everything before the ps1. That way I can still use Windows and use the standalone emulators for ps1 and above and add them myself to Retrobat so I can launch everything from there.
The only problem is certain portable console from certain company because getting the games looks like a pain in the ass, with the 2 best bets in websites being still a pop up fest of ads (and those are the best ones...) but oh well, I am gonna let that console for last.

if you want to emulate vb games, then you should try a 3ds which has the 3d effect which allows for the vb 3d effect. When it comes to emulation, modded consoles should be considered as they have high quality hardware compared to other retro brands ( ahem anbernic powkiddy) and have certain quirks which makes them better for other systems and they have native hardware support which lets you play 100% of a catalog which is more efficient ( you would need a 300 dollar handheld to emulate 3ds for example)

    • @GalaxyGamingGroup

Definitely missed the news on the red viper vb emulator for 3ds. Modded consoles are indeed another great solution. The Wii U being the easiest way to play Wii U backups while also being able to emulate a bunch of other systems (including the gamecube) is a good example.
If I do a follow up years later when the scene has evolved considerably, I'll definitely expand beyond emulation on PC and include some of the top consoles that are emulation powerhouses, as well as list a few consoles that are probably much better off just using a softmod or cartridge dumper + flash cart for like n64, ds, and 3ds.

7:11 you didn't have to salt the wounds, and yet you had to remind me that Sony could just port it within a few months, but they'd rather port newer and more profitable exclusives. only elaboration I could see is that, to Sony, BB is more profitable and valuable than GoW, Horizon, and Spiderman combined.

I know I shouldn't ask, but I will. Recently, I've been seriously considering trying the Simple64 option, but I'm very careful with emulators so as not to accidentally catch a virus that would destroy my computer from the inside (not surprisingly, anyway). At this point, is Simple64 a safe emulator to use and won't get any viruses? I say I would do it, but I'm very careful when it comes to such news.

    • @GalaxyGamingGroup

They're fairly well established and I've never had any issues, though you will need decent specs on your machine or else nothing will happen when you start up your game.
My dates are probably off, but IIRC the project started as m64p (not to be confused with Mupen 64 Plus) around 2017 and then rebranded to Simple64 around 2021, since at that point they evolved well beyond just a port.
Their official Github (with a URL to their main website) can be found here: github.com/simple64/simple64

@@GalaxyGamingGroup So I shouldn't be afraid of it and just try it out. Especially since I have Win 11, so the system probably meets the requirements.
