You are welcome
Great story, Gary. Quite a few details probably cut for time from the documentary.
Gary do you remember the placque that Nick had on his desk or wall , it read something about you can throw me into the abyss but I will crawl out to haunt you again and again, something like that, do you know the quote
I forgot about that. Yes it was something like that. I can’t remember for sure.
I’ve heard alot of good stories about the River Quay. 🤫
Hey… my Name is Quay!!
40:49 😂😂😂
That was one hell of a club. The Bowery ran by a used car guy from Knobtown. Can’t remember his name.
My great uncle was Carl mauer he owed Mauer fruit and vegetable. My brother and I used to lump trucks for him and mack Cole slaw. When he died jack leggio took over. Not sure how jack ended up with the business but he did. We continued to work for jack off and on for the next year or so. Between the hours of 12 am and 7 am the city market was doing a lot of business. It was a haven for anything and everything you can imagine. Jack was always good to me and my brother. He sure wasn't very good to most others. I was 12 when I first met Jack and he always paid us at the end of each shift and usually gave us a ride home. We grew up in the NE area St John and spruce. I got a lot of memories from those days it certainly was a wild time in KC. That was the last gasp of pendergast wide open city.
Great story about life at the City Market. Who was the guy that could age bananas just right? Remember Radio Joe's Horse Radish?
I remember pretty much all of them. Prosciuttos was next door on the other side was B&J fruit juice. Mr Donze of course that's when the Vietnamese started really coming into the market. Beautiful people yeah I could go on. Tony Nicholi I'm sure I spelled his last name incorrectly but he used to walk around with a flat of grape's . He would eat the whole flat. Not sure this is true because it was a little before my time down there. A couple of guys said Tony Orlando used to hang out down there doing shady things. Of course that was before he hit it big. You're older than me and a police officer do you remember that.
@@user-ch4ld2co6c i don’t remember Orlando. Sonny Leber used to back his Cadillac up in the covered stalls and sell boosted items from the trunk,
When did you become a police officer?
I was hired in 1971 and I went into the Intelligence Unit in 1976.
Great story Gary but is Freddy Bonadonna still alive??
Dan no he committed suicide in Wit Sec back in 2000 I think. He ran restaurants in Naples FL.
@@GaryJenkinsMafiaDetectiveI sent you information on messenger. Found out why he killed him self.
Great episode! River Quay history is great to hear. 👍🏼🍻🇺🇸 GO CHIEFS !
Thank you and Super Bowl here we come.
What year was Ruffalo flipped?
Not sure but probably 1975-76. But he could have been talking for a few years before. They had to surface him in 1977 because the Cammisano brothers were asking him to perjure himself.
6:54 u meant Jenny’s. Not Jessie’s.
Oops a slip of the tongue
I had a honda like that years ago big bike with a 50cc engine lol
Is that a 350/4?
Yes little orange can size pistons. I love to ride it
