I love these videos Gary. I was born in downtown Kansas City and lived in Liberty Missouri for a good portion of my life. I now live in Springfield and I have for awhile. I love to hear these stories and I greatly appreciate what you do. Growing up my dad would drive me around and point to certain businesses and restaurants and tell stories about the Civellas, which I was completely unfamiliar with, I'm now 20 years old and a bit of a history nerd, especially when it comes to organized crime. Your stories are some of the only believable information I can find. I appreciate it, and I hope you continue to tell these great stories. Enjoy your day and thank you again for your time.
Interesting! I had a young guy who had an uncle called Radio. He wanted to write a story about his uncle’s life in the 70s. I told him to go talk to Terry because he could fill in a lot of facts. Tell him about that the next time you talk.
Interesting story Gary, I knew Tuffy, I met him after his release from Leavenworth. I have some interesting stories about my experiences with the KC mob, all positive stories for the most part.
Kansas city is my favorite place to vacation. I head up up there every year. I stay at the 21c aka the savoy and absolutely love it there. That Australian bakery is fantastic!
@@GaryJenkinsMafiaDetective Thanks, have you done anything on Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, or Pretty Boy Floyd , gangsters from the depression would make good stories
@@gregscavuzzo5457 I have the Bonnie and Clyde Tour on you tube. I have several stories I did back in the early days. I don’t have video because they were before I started doing you tube with everything. I will take a look and fix them with some kind of image and put on you tube.
Sir; I was 19-20 ( 1976-1977) on the river Key, there was a bombing late one evening or early of the morning. It removed the hole block, unsure why or if it had to do anything with the Mod war's of the time. Thanks for the stories. My dad was in law enforcement from the late sixty's until his retirement in the early 90's
Gary, who was the guy that was blown up in the car in the grocery store parking lot across the street from the Sears building at 15th and Cleveland? I worked second shift at Sears and was on the roof and could see the car parts scattered all over the place.
Gary T. Parker aka Parker T. He was the running partner of Sonny Bowen. They probably killed Johnny Green Amaro in go garage. This was a retaliation for Green.
That liquor he stole was from Civella's liquor store, is what I always heard. Any idea if that's true regarding that Spero heist with Yellow? My uncle sam worked there w/ a Bonadonna brother (provided it's the same story I remember hearing.)
I lived on Virginia Street in Kansas City Missouri during the time of the mob attack on the Spero brothers I lived behind the building across from the tavern where a parking lot and the address was 626 Virginia Street first floor apartment I was only a kid I will never forget that night
About 1978 I was an 18 yr old carpet layer with an ad in the Star to lay carpet. So Frank Todaro found the ad and called me to do a Carpet Job for him. I met him at the Virginian Tavern and followed him to a lakefront home he was building or completely remodeling on Lake Waukomis in NKC (I think), for me to carpet the whole house. Took me two days to complete. I think I heard later on the news that this house was bombed. I never knew what that was all about and if he and his family was killed in that incident. And Ive always wondered if he was more then just the owner of the Virginian. (The year may not be exact.)
Gary, was there ever any truth to Mickey Finn being connected to the mob? I knew Mickey when he owned the bowling alley and Gold Buffett in NKC and the Rodeway Inn on Armour Rd.
Brancato's had baked bread for the city market vending, I seem to remember, no 100 positive though, these names all blend together - Too much time has passed.
My dad always loved villa Capri when we lived in kc, he had nostalgia from when he and his friends would drink underage there in high-school. I laughed so much when I found out it was a mob hang out at that time because it made so much sense why they would sell to high schoolers
@@GaryJenkinsMafiaDetective I could not remember the spelling of Cuezze. Too long ago! And it may not be the same family, but may have been. I played little league with Nick Civella's nephew and went to middle and high school with Carl Spero's nephew. Another friend lived closed to the Spero's in Kearney and had to be evacuated when Carl's nephew found the bomb under Carl's car.
@@GaryJenkinsMafiaDetective I know they asked Anthony Barber to take over in Vegas somehow, he declined. Jennifer, you must have been close to the action back then. You are right on. We actually had a drug case and selling weapons on Carl Spero when they killed him. Drugs may have been part of this dispute, but there were other things. Carl was going around recruiting guys saying he was moving in on the Civellas. Email me at ganglandwire@gmail.com to continue sharing notes. Might get another podcast episode going. Have you seen my documentary Brothers against Brothers the Civella Spero War. This doesn’t matter but I had short conversation with one of civella granddaughter but she made a point during her father’s era blacks & Italian got along during her brothers era they didn’t!
