Top video Sir, I enjoyed Whitby when I went. Magpie Cafe is a must for Fish & Chips! The Weatherspoons hotel looked good!! Robin Hoods Bay…. A little hidden gem! ….. Smithy
Thanks for your great review and video. I love Whitby. Hope you had the famous fish and chips from a chippy? Lovely room and great location . Really enjoyable video. Thanks again. Looking forward to the next one. Take care.
Whitby is a great day trip for me from Newcastle. I have driven there, but usually travel by train. That Wetherspoon hotel was well presented and seemed good value, I'm almost tempted to give it a go. Whitby is a lot more refined than Blackpool, or even Scarborough - smaller, of course but theres's plenty to explore. You are right about the seagulls, they are after your chips with a vengeance. Thanks for your video.
We live about 20 miles inland from Scarborough, 25 from Whitby and visit both on the Coastliner bus fairly regularly. Being a bigger town, Scarborough has more shops and attractions, especially in summer - while Whitby has the history and atmosphere. The Grand Hotel has seen better days but has lots of potential for a new owner with seriously deep pockets to invest in it. When in Whitby I sometimes have lunch at the Angel Hotel, one of the best Wetherspoons I've been to. It's all very different to Blackpool and the Fylde, I enjoy both really ... watching you visit the Yorkshire coast for the first time reminds me how lucky we are to have it all on the doorstep 🙂
Whitby looks like an amazing place to stay, a nice little seaside town. A great video of Whitby Stephen and the hotel, great value on the hotel, looks like a very nice place to stay, was surprised how glamorous the Weatherspoons hotels are 😊
Wetherspoons hotels are top quality . me&my 2 sisters had to travel from south wales up to Andover , and we stayed in wetherspoons for the night. it was outstanding, lovely and spotlessly clean .
Love whitby n nice to see ya on ya travels.. We've stopped in Angel twice n can't knock it...modern/clean n tidy...drinks n food on tap at great prices. Fab Whitby to explore whats not to ❤
Whitby was my birthplace and home for the first 36 years of my life (left 20 years ago now). This is the "Big A" pub to me, and always will be, with the "Little A" at the top end of Flowergate
Whitby is one of my favourite places on the coast. We used to go 3 or 4 times a year on holiday when i was a kid in the 70s. My mothers ashes are scatterd at the top of the cliffe in St Marys church yard and we go over every Xmas eve to put some flowers on the fence.. Beautiful place. Sandsend just up the coast is also belting and can be reached via the promeade on the beach providing the tide is out. Staithes is a really quaint little village further up the coast. It is usually alot quieter tbf..Very picturesque..You should come over to Whitby for the Goth weekends in April and November. Busy as feck but some real characters knocking about..👍👍
Always look forward to your videos it's like a little holiday from the day to day life. Love Whitby and the Abbey and Papas fish an chips. Keep up the good work😊
I stayed 4 nights at Spoons Hotel in Minehead, It was the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The room was really spacious and the bathroom had a walk in shower which is better for me. There were ample hot drinks in the room and the staff even asked me if I wanted more. The wifi was excellent with a good seating area for using my laptop. I'm always up early so breakfast at 7 was a bonus for me. I caught four buses to get there and using my bus pass it only cost me £2 to get there. It was £56 a night so overall a nice cheap holiday in a nice area. I'll certainly be using Spoons hotels again.
I have stayed there and as you say it was a great hotel for a great price, there is no parking but receptionist directed us to local street with free parking.
The trick with the card powering the lights is that you can use any card with a magnetic strip on the back, so certain loyalty cards will also power the lights as well, very useful if you don't was to keep re-inserting your room card into the slot every time you enter the room. I know this is the case with Premier Inns and it's probably the same with Wetherspoons.
Hi Steve I enjoy watching your videos they inspire me as I enjoy travelling love Blackpool and Scarborough, nd whitby I'm there in end of May, I have visited Portsmouth
Walk With Me Tim went to the one in Great Yarmouth... It looked very nice inside, but I've seen some nasty looking rows going on outside in the seating area, so I wouldn't fancy it.
As the anniversary is looming on the 9th April for the 50th year since the Dr Who exhibition opened, it would be great to have a feature on this. Perhaps a look at the current building where it once stood on 111 Central Promenade. I remember my first visit in the summer of 1974 and being terrified but equally fascinated by seeing the monsters up front. The tardis was the entrance where you paid your fee to go down some steps into the basement. I have often wondered what that building is like now and if still used.
My school mate works on life boat in Whitby and we always stay up other end near big rd bridge in a 3 story house go crabbing next to it it’s brill place

Been to Whitby loads of times but only ever walked past this place on the way to the Magpie cafe. Does look nice & good value. Will give it a go this year 😁
That's impressive for what you'd expect to be a basic hotel room from a big pub chain! Regarding the pillows did you check the labels of the ones in the wardrobe? You timed it well between all the awful storms didnt you?😅 Looking forward to seeing what else you got upto in Whitby. It's a great place to visit.

Looks like a very nice hotel Stephen I’ve been to Whitby twice just for the day it’s a lovely place if we were to stay I’d have no problem staying there 👍 Thanks for sharing this with us and until next time Pauline from Blackpool living in Canada 🍁
Enjoyed the video fella, Whitby is a favourite of mine. Its busy all year round to be fair, but jam packed at summer season. Did you visit the most famous chippy in Whitby? Its called the Magpie Cafe, mega snap. Getting parked in season is a nightmare, but they offer a reliable park and ride service. Last time i went i parked at a place called Grosmont and jumped on a steam train which runs to Whitby on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (featured in the TV series Heartbeat). Worth a trip and something a bit different.
Love Whitby. Just up the road from me. You’re right that car park does get extremely busy in the summer. Best off using the park and ride in the summer. The big sailing ship outside is a replica of the endeavor that captain cook sailed on. Hope you have a good time around here!

Stayed in July in that hotel enjoyed whitby so much so we've rebooked for next year one of the balcony rooms which go very quickly to get one we had to book on the day of check out they are that popular, the car park is very busy had to drive around for ages to get a spot.
