Independent bookstores thrive with local appeal

- New research shows that many once-endangered bookstores are booming again. Between 2009 and 2015, more than 570 independent bookstores opened in the U.S., a 35 percent jump after more than a decade of decline. Tony Dokoupil visited several independent booksellers where he found the rebound is about more than just books.

Only books I can find in my area are all in charity shops.
Yeah me too...and the books in the charity shops around here are mostly old books only good for crafting projects..I have a tablet I read some books on,and my phone too but I still like the feeling of having a physical book in my hand and I've always loved the smell of new books,it has been a comforting smell for me ever since I was a child...I shopped at places like Barnes and Noble and get some books online,but I'd rather have an independent bookstore nearby to browse books and get that "new book smell" I love so much...also,I like supporting local business when I can :)
Late reply=phone problems. I actually find decent authors. I guess it depends who reads what in your area.
