- Sheila admits to Mike she isn't pregnant but is determined to become so. Eric talks to a doctor about a vasectomy. Stephanie tells James she is worried that Ridge will win back Brooke and marry her. Ridge tells Brooke he loves her and can offer her a passion that she does not have with James. Brooke decides she must talk to James. Ridge is convinced Brooke is going to take him back.

Even Stephanie knows on some level that Brooke and Ridge belong together. That’s why she is so fearful now and recognizes that Brooke is in denial. She knows that she won’t be able to turn her back on true love for much longer.

More of James in denial and giving wrong diagnosis (the worst is over, he says, while Ridge is at Brooke's with a ring again) and more of Steph reliably relating what is actually going on...
I found it interesting that Steph said she's "powerless" to stop Ridge-Brooke, when she was always given so much power in the past to influence events. I guess it could be argued that she's using James as her tool, but it's a pretty blunt, ineffective and faulty tool.
I can't get over how clueless James is! He's supposed to be a great reader of minds!
@@shanemarais823 I think the writers are finally addressing (albeit in a small and insufficient way), the elephant in the room about how much they have "de-powered" the Steph we first met in season 1.
My question is...why is steph all of a sudden powerless? OG Steph had every number of every kind of henchman, private eye, etc etc in her rolodex and could get every and anything done. She wasn't a passive bystander. She certainly would have had a confrontation with Brooke already.. When last have we seen one of those?
Now they have her like a helpless dame, relying on a supposed world class psychiatrist who is so useless, that OG Steph would have had no use for him.

Until the moment Connor chose side piece Karen over his girlfriend Brooke, Connor still might have been in lead, but after that, the *dead* first love beats the *second choice will be your best friend* option - if it is mainly about *stability* . But if it is about the looks, I would always chose Connor over James.

Brooke had just taken over control of FC and when she had asked him to give her some time, he went out with Karen and refused to cancel when Brooke asked him to. And then thanks to Sheila's interference we had Brooke driving to Connor's home and she saw him dancing there closely with her best friend. Doesn't really scream "stability" when you already had a boyfriend who quickly turned to someone else/ replaced you with someone else.

Proof that Brooke has just been trying to construct a romantic fantasy: when Ridge calls her bluff and tries to walk away, she's like "Wait! That's not how this scene is supposed to play out!" (1:27) 😁 Indeed the whole Ridge/Brooke/James triangle has been like this, with Brooke first using James to elicit a reaction from Ridge and then Ridge turning the (dining) tables on her like when he toasted her engagement to James. In those moments, Brooke's reaction always gives the game away. The end goal has always been Ridge and now that she has no other competition for him, she wants him to pursue her and fulfill the romantic fantasy she has been living in for "seven long years."
Yet, had he not shown up in Santa Barbara, she'd be married.

The past seven years have made it VERY clear how she feels about Ridge.

Lol, exactly. And the doctor's line "It usually takes about a month before the operation is fully effective." Sheila will find out about Eric's plan somehow and that will give her just enough wiggle room to come up with a plot before he's sterile lol.

When Taylor was in Europe, we had Ridge reflecting how much he enjoys family time with Bridget (and Brooke) and he would see his daughter more often - Taylor back and Bridget (and Brooke) were forgotten.
Now Taylor is gone again and forgotten - and Ridge is reflecting again on his spirituality/passion with Brooke and family time with Bridget.

So when Caroline died and Brooke was there for him out of friendship and Love…Ridge remembered his past with Brooke. They both drew from their past together. And then Taylor enters the story with her compassion and understanding and Ridge is drawn to her. He has at this point lost Caroline to death and Brooke to his dad. Taylor appears to be the answer…but Ridge still has deep feelings for Brooke and their history.😏 And while Ridge was married to Taylor he still had ties to Brooke through Bridget. So the Bridge history was still there when Taylor died. And here we are back again…to Bridge. Doesn’t matter if Brooke is second choice…she still is the Choice Ridge wants to be with for now! 😁❤

I've always found Stephanie's obsession with Ridge's love life icky. I think they were making her Alexandria Spaulding who was obsessed with her son's love life. Brooke would be Mindy, who slept with Alexandria's ex-husband, nephew and son.
