I'd like to add that once they have finished flowering it is easy to harvest them and get thousands of seeds. I grew one packet like this last year and harvested the plants, now have more pansie seedlings growing in trays than I can possibly use.
Thank you, this was very easy to follow. It'll be my 1st time planting from scratch; seeds that is. Question for anyone (may seem odd but I'd rather ask than assume). Does the seed tray have drainage & where do I keep the seed tray during its selefane wrap phase?
The seed tray has small drainage holes. Keep the soil damp (but not wet or the seedling roots will rot). Keep the seed tray in a warm (15 to 20 deg C ideally) bright place but not in direct sunlight.
Thank you for your appreciation. I always use Wilko seeds. They are low price and very reliable - I have only had one packet out of hundreds that failed to germinate.
All the articles I read say to germinate them in cool darkness. What’s the difference? I’m trying to grow some right now for Fall. Any insight would help! I am also in zone 7 in the US if that makes a difference.
Two questions -- #1 no cold stratifying? I read you were supposed to refrigerate them 2 weeks first. #2 You kept the tray outside while germinating? I was thinking of doing that so I don't have to harden them off 2 more weeks and they can get in the garden as soon as my frost date passes.
Just one question. Is it ok to sow the seeds in speed are compartments of a propagator tray and therefore avoid having to separate them once they’ve started to grow?
Thank you for your appreciation.Keep covered until the seeds germinate. Only remove to water if the compost dries out but it shouldnt need water as the cover traps the moisture.
So it's about 15 days now since I planted some pansy seeds & have kept the pots indoors. Now, little sprouts have started to come out. Should I put them out in the sun for a few hours, or is it still too early for that? BTW, I'm in the SF Bay Area. Thank you.
hello, I planted the seeds, the tiny leaves (dicots?) came out but they do not grow any more (at least 10-15 days passed). Should I put them in shadow or cover them again? Thanks
The flowers turn into pods when they've finished flowering. The pods then split open showing the tiny seeds inside. Look for open pods on your pansy plants and you can save those seeds, dry them then sow them.
after planting the seeds and covering with a plastic do you keep watering and if so how often? I had planted pansies early this year and they came out lots of it. But they never flowered till now
Hi Evelyn. The plastic film should keep the soil moist but if if looks dry keep it moist (but not soaking wet or the seeds can rot)until the seeds germinate then remove the plastic covering.
Hi Shann. The plastic should keep the moisture in so you should not have to but keep an eye on the soil and if it starts to dry then add a little water. Keep safe.
Could the pansy grow in tropical country with temperature around 28-32 celcius? I’ve read that pansy likes cool breeze weather. Anw, i like the video :)
I repotted my morning glory today and my cornflowers am worried I might have killed them I was careful they are in my little greenhouse I was gonna put them out tomorrow then back in the greenhouse at night would this be the correct way to do it also do very young plants need shade more than direct sunlight for a few weeks till they harden thankyou
Hi Karen. You are right to bring them back in overnight and gradually harden them off. Also keep seedlings out of direct sunlight as they lose too much moisture and dont have the root system to replace it from the soil.
Started seeds 20th Dec
Potted 19th Jan
first flower 24th feb
hope this helps.
good job.
Is this Ok in a cold climate too ?
Excellent. Thank you.
Thank you very informative since the lockdown I have been relying more on buying seeds than buying plants from the garden centre.
Hi Carl. Glad it was helpful! I am the same, I always buy seeds unless for some reason I am short of time to tend to them.
Thank you. Excellent. Wonderful delivery and so simple to follow.
Thanks Jon for your appreciation. Keep safe.
Ohhhhh how pretty at the end! You should be proud of that! I bought my seeds first time this year for pansies!
Good luck with your growing!
I love pansies and violas, they are beautiful flowers 💐
I agree. They are beautiful.
Thanks for this. Just started pansys and violas and am seeing them popping up!
Hi Katie that is wonderful! Keep safe.

Thank for such a clear and simple video.
You are welcome! Keep safe.
Thank you. This is the best simplest video.

Thank you. Very easy to follow. I have exactly the same seeds from Wilko:).
Thank you for your appreciation. I always use Wilko seeds. They are low price and very reliable - I have only had one packet out of hundreds that failed to germinate.
How long did this process take from seed to flower?
Hi there...did you use only compost( vermicompost) as the seeding medium?
Yes I did. Make sure you use a compost that is made for seed germination. Keep safe.
All the articles I read say to germinate them in cool darkness. What’s the difference? I’m trying to grow some right now for Fall. Any insight would help! I am also in zone 7 in the US if that makes a difference.
15 to 18 degC seems a good temperature (this is classed as warm in England!) High temperature levels are not recommended. Best wishes and keep safe.
Lovely flowers
So soothing voice

It is fine to grow them in compartments. Keep safe.
My pansy plant needs support to stand. Please guide
What month should we start them in the uk?
Hi Cheryl. I start indoors mid March.
Thankyou very clear instructions I have my seedlings in my conservatory where it is very warm is that an ideal place for them to start growing ? 😊
Hi Karen. Your conservatory sounds ideal. Keep the seeds moist. Good luck with your growing and stay safe.
LearnHow2 thankyou so much for replying fingers crossed stay safe also 😊🙏
Awesome Video! How long do you keep the tray covered for? Do you uncover them everyday to water? Thanks

@@LearnHow2 thank you =)

Never put seedlings in full sunlight. Wait until they have at least 2 sets of leaves.
I am really scared of removing seedlings. Is it possible to grow them in the same pot they were sowed?

keep them uncovered and in bright light (not direct sunlight)
Can you harvest the seeds from an existing plant? If so, how?
Hi Adriana. Yes you can.
The flowers turn into pods when they've finished flowering. The pods then split open showing the tiny seeds inside. Look for open pods on your pansy plants and you can save those seeds, dry them then sow them.

@@LearnHow2 thinking if pansy works with the tissue/paper towel method. What’s your say about this?
Can we soak these seeds before sowing them? I sowed them and out of like 20, only 1 germinated
Put them on a damp piece of paper for a day - dont drown the seeds though - just keep them moist.
Very helpful 👍

Hi Rini. Pansies are a cool weather plant so I'm sorry to say that I dont think they will grow well in your climate. Keep safe.
@@LearnHow2 I'm in the Philippines. Just bought pansy seeds online. I think I have to cancel it. Temperatures here are the same as where Rini is.

Can we grow all type seeds in compose???
Yes. Most seeds.
Hi folks! I live in the tropics. I would like to grow these. Any tips? Thanks!
I tried cold stratification to germinate the seeds. It works.
Nice bird voice behind vdo
Yes they nest in the trees in my garden.
When a cover it with a plastic . How many days i should leave it??? need answer
Leave it until the seeds germinate. The plastic keeps the moisture and the heat in.
@@LearnHow2 There's no need to water them again? Just leave them until it germinate?
Thank you
Hi Susan. You're welcome. Keep safe.
@@LearnHow2 thankyou you too
In north Africa we start grow the seed in September or October .
Thank's
Thank you for your information.
@@LearnHow2 you're welcome
Thank you!
Can't we just do the entire process from the beginning in the desired pots ?
Yes if that suits you.
3:39 spilt a bit
Great observation!

@@LearnHow2 .. also, u forgot to mention what time of year to sow the seeds & how to grow them all year round.
The flowers look too happy and not judgemental enough.
I don't think that was pansy seedlings.. looks like hollyhock to me.
Thank you!
Hi Roxanne. You're welcome!
