    I love that you are so articulate and clear. Some bloggers I've seen have great style but sound very ditzy when they speak and its a bit of a pet peeve of mine.
    It's nice that you've included Canadian brands too. I'm not a huge fan of dynamite but would love to see you feature others in the future. Keep it up!

      The basics for plus-size are still the same -- you'll just want the fabrics to be softer and more draping so they fall over your curves beautifully. :) I'll have some plus-size videos coming up though! :)

    I agree with your suggestions. As a long waisted and short legged woman, I'd replace the midi-length black t-shirt dress with a mid-thigh length one. I have a defined waist and smaller bust, so I wear a modest neckline as part of my style. I'm getting a lot of mileage from my black dress. The fabric is substantial, yet the bottom can be folded twice and tucked into a pair of pants or jeans to serve as a blouse. I like how you focus on tailoring and quality fit. This makes an outfit work, as I'm not into many accessories; your advice is solid.

    Thank you for this!! I'm starting to get the idea of the basics but I'd love a denim detailed fit video too!! I struggle with fits in most of my clothes. I tend to buy things that are too large thinking they will distract others from my actual size which I've struggled with. However, I did go through my closet last week and take out all my ill fitted clothing. I already feel better and can't wait to start over. ❤️ also, I'd love a "how to find the right tee shirt fit" explanation video. I love your 50 ways video and I'd love to see what I should be looking for.

    Thank you so much for mentioning the tailored waist shirts! I look best in tailored waists and jeans that have a tight waist band because I gap at the waist where it goes in and a loose shirt just makes me look like a straight figure and is not flattering. Thanks for saying, "just do you!" Because all I see are big big big shirts super loose and nothing is fitted slightly in the waist anymore. Plus skinny jeans aren't my fave so if you have a loose shirt and loose bootcut jeans you just look slouchy! I'm so tried of this trend of loose top tucked in skin tight high waisted everything skinny pants! I know many people love the high waisted but it just doesn't flatter everyone and there should be more tailored shirts available !!

    I had a good laugh at the Canadian tuxedo comment....soooo true!! This was another great video and am glad to say that I have the basics. Phew! I tend to buy less expensive basics as I wear them so often, they get worn out quickly (example dark washed jeans fade or white tee is not as crisp after a few washes). As an aside, love your nail polish.....and also Happy 150!!

    • @ChristieRessel

      LOL, right? The Canadian Tux is something to be careful of! ;) Jeans shouldn't fade too quickly if you've got a good pair. Have you tried Yoga Jeans? They're in Jean Machine and I swear by them!!

    I'm in California & purchased a couple tees from Dynamite. Also one black tee with "straps" across the v neck. I love that they are tapered & give me shape. I think I will get a few more in a few different colors. Such great pieces to add to my closet. In the past 6 months I've pretty much replaced most of my closet. It was full, but I didn't wear anything but 5 pieces. I got rid of a lot & keep getting rid of more. It was jam packed with items I didn't wear! The complaint of so many woman!! Now I have pieces that coordinate. It's a start and you have been so much help. Thank-you!!

  • @wendyraye
    @wendyraye 7 лет назад

    Awesome tips, especially getting the best quality for your budget - avoiding buyer's remorse, never wearing/using it because it's such an expensive piece, or it feels too "nice" for every day use. Please do denim, like you mentioned, and include ideal fits for skinny, boyfriend, straight, etc and what lengths look best for each type (ok to roll the hem or get it tailored?)
    I also could use help with what "definitely needs to go" - I've seen a million videos and read books, but no one has been able to help me overcome the anxiety I get when I start to toss things that have sentimental value, causing more anxiety from too much stuff. You are straight forward so tell me what I need to hear. Thanks!

    • @ChristieRessel
      @ChristieRessel  7 лет назад

      Yes, buyer's remorse is real and definitely unwanted. Who wants to feel guilty when they get dressed? The basic denim video is on the way! The "needs to go" pieces that are sentimental is a tough one. I had lost my mom about 10 years ago and it's taken me years to slowly get rid of her pieces. What's helped me do that is realized that tossing her "stuff" does NOT mean I'm throwing her away or disrespecting her. She'll always be with me. But, people have different stages of that -- it's part of the mourning process. But keeping her things isn't going to help me hold onto her, you know? In some ways it can just hold us back from moving forward. Stuff is just stuff -- it's our memories and emotional response to the "stuff" that we need to deal with. Letting go is tough, but necessary for our sanity and health.

    Christie, I love your videos so much. Each time I watch them I am finding something new I can use or do with things I actually have. Furthermore, you have been my helpful angel with a huge clear out I have been doing on my closet. I recently had microsurgery on both knees. Two ladies at church decided to "talk" to me about my weight which is why they felt my knees went (both meniscus popped out of place a month apart). I have been clearing out every heel and most of my boots I never wear. I am 54 and 5'7" and weight 190 lb roughly. My biggest body part challenge is an aweful pot bellie from a digestive surgery. So needless to say, I need help not just with camoflaging but really wearing 'nice' looking and feeling good again. I personally really don't like white button down shirts - but often have to wear them. This video and your others are so up beat. Thank you. I am working on my own capsule wardrobe. By the way. I sew and T-shirt dresses are a staple for me here in Los Angeles. I love them.

    • @ChristieRessel
      @ChristieRessel  6 лет назад +1

      I'm SO SO happy to hear that you find the videos fun and informative; music to my ears! Way to go on the closet cleanup as well, that's amazing! Shame on women that talk behind the back of others -- people do that because they are often so unhappy in their own lives. I hope you're recovering beautifully from your surgery and hope to hear more about your capsule wardrobe and self-love journey along the way! You should join the FB group I chit-chat about -- i think you'd love it!

    I've owned multiple plain white button ups, and NEVER wore them!!! Before I started my internship this summer I got one with a very subtle pattern, plain white with thin black lines that form squares, I wear it constantly, and I feel like it's more of a staple than plain white

      I'm in my 30's, and most of my videos are age-less, in terms of what you can wear. It's all a state of mind for most part. You go so in depth as opposed to the videos that tell you the basics but lack innovative styling tips. Hi Christie, I just found your channel (literally, this is the first video I'm watching) and I love it! You seem to give great general tips, talk about how to make it work, and you are showing off a great personality. I actually follow a lot of these tips myself. A cute, jersey - like black dress, a good dark denim jacket, and a good faux leather motorcycle - inspired jacket. Have to check out more of your videos. Also, I was wondering if you have/ could make a video of tips for being a stylist. I'm not a professional one, but I actually do a lot of shopping for my family members since they are elderly or have mobility issues, so I'd appreciate some advice. Also a video on what makes a good "eye for fashion". Keep it up Christie!

    Thanks for this. Ive recently lost 70 pounds(more than halfway to my goal) and all my clothes are falling off me so nice to have a guide because I no longer have to hide behind shapeless t shirts and jeans so really have no idea how to dress myself

    A denim video would be wonderful! And a couple other ideas: tips for buying shoes (professional, casual, other) and body shape. I used to be more pear-shaped to hourglass. Now that I've had a baby and can't seem to shake the weight, I have no idea what my shape is! And surprisingly, there are few resources out there with actual ways to determine my shape other than "out of shape."

      Love those suggestions! A body-type video will definitely be coming in future,I know how challenging it can be to find the right information you're looking for! I also love the idea for shoes! Will definitely put something together for that also. xo

    I love watching you. Your denim video is basically my go to guide now and I kept saying to my friends, no the point of the pocket should be at the bottom of your bum....LOL. I love your authenticity, sincerity and expertise. I watched so many stylist on youtube and ones who have a lot more subscribers but I only subscribed to you because you are doing a great job providing genuinely value-add content. I also love your Toronto accent as one of my favorite co-workers is from there and she sounds like you :) I am really proud of the work you are doing and I just want to encourage you to keep fighting the good fight!!!!

    This feels like an odd suggestion but I would love some pointers and the basics for undergarments. Brands that actually work and don't slip and slide all over! I'm tall and can't seem to find a nice shaping tank that doesn't ride up.

    Hi there!!! I just stumbled upon your channel tonight for the first time and I absolutely love it! I have yet to search thru all your videos so not sure if you can point me in the right direction to an existing video of yours or maybe let me know it's a video idea you have yet to execute - but I just finished watching your basics video and LOVED it! Gained some great advice on how to use the basics I already own and then realized I had a few missing basics and I MUST go shopping for them real soon :) - but I would love to see you take the basics (or maybe just a few of them) and SHOW a serious amount of outfit options - like just a few basics but literally like a hundred different options. When u consider all the different pairings AND all the different accessories including shoes, belts, bags, jewelry, hair and even make up! Also, I know some of the basics you showed can literally be physically worn in different ways...... like the white and denim blouses and all the ways you can actually wear them (buttoned, tucked in or untucked, all unbuttoned, tied at waist, sleeves rolled or not, half buttoned (either way top or bottom) you get the point! I guess I am just a super super visual person so while you have done and are doing an amazing job describing ALL the options (and yes i realize you do actually show a bunch as well) I would love to SEE like hundreds of options from just a few basics - maybe it wouldn't all have to be you actually wearing/posing like maybe you could pull a bunch of existing photos from the web (not sure about legalities of that suggestion) but I would just love to see a ton of options!!!...... Ok, sorry, ranting so much I could do my own video at this point right???? - I did super enjoy you and your videos so thought I would reach out! Of course I subscribed and have a thumbs up too!!!
    P.S. I love the pace at which you speak and run your videos it's rather fast and i prefer that - just the right amount of personal injection without straying from the valuable content we wanted when we clicked on your video in the first place!!!! I was also very drawn to your videos because I feel like you portray us everyday women----- I could see myself in every outfit I saw you in and that can't be said about a large majority of the fashion and beauty channels I subscribe to....
    THANKS SO MUCH❤️️! KEEP UP THE AWESOME VIDEOS!!!! And thank you even more if you actually read this entire epic comment!!!! 💗

      So happy you enjoyed the basics video and this one! Yes, you can create so many different outfit combinations from some simple pieces. I don't have one using solely basics, but if you search my videos, I show yu how you can create 107 outfits using just 14 clothing items. A lot of basics are in the video, so you should get a pretty good idea. xo

    I had to stop the video to say, you've literally addressed a huge insecurity of mine. I just came here from your "having nothing to wear" video, and yes, Omg yes, I'm so happy you exist! Lol Since I've been trying to declutter and be more of a minimalist, all fashion tips that I've read are people that spend thousand and thousand of money on basics that, yeah, last forever, but hell I don't have money for all that! I also love prints, and most minimalist would say "no no no, you can't have prints!" lol. And I've always felt very insecure because it seemed like I wanted to be more conscious about my wardrobe, I wanted to invest in basics (my wardrobe was a psychedelic mess let me tell you), but just... It wasn't for me, I guess, so, I've been rambling enough. I just wanted to say I love your take on style, I thank you for sharing your knowledge, and you've helped a fellow here a lot :)

    • @ChristieRessel
      @ChristieRessel  7 лет назад

      I'm so happy you found it helpful! Music to my ears! I think most minimalist tend to shy from prints solely because the average person doesn't know how to wear them and thinks solids blend/pair with everything better. While this can be true, it definitely can lack personality in the looks big time. Always honour who you are -- in life and style. Fashion and style are meant to be fun; whether you're a fashion nut like myself or someone looking to pair down to the essentials. xo

    So happy I've found your Chanel! Would you be able to do a video on wearing blouses/shirts/blazers for the bigger busted lady? I find it really hard to wear these items and not feel frumpy. Also shirts/blouses just gape and pop open at the bust on me! Help!! X

    • @nessa7013

    • @ChristieRessel
      @ChristieRessel  7 лет назад +2

      YES! I have a larger bust also, so I TOTALLY understand the frustration behind that. I will definitely put something together for us well-endowed ladies. Fashion tape is an ok solution, but it's always fit/cut that is the key here. Will definitely put together something and discuss more in detail! :) Thanks for the suggestion!

    • @ChristieRessel

    What an amazing video! So thorough and educational. I am happy to know I have most of these, just shy of the pencil skirt (I work from home, so I would barely use it) and a nice silk camisole (which will be my next purchase when the time comes). Thank you so much for putting this together! I would have loved to see some examples of how you wear your chambray shirt, I have one and I only have two looks with it.
