04/30/2023 - My first time seeing this video. I love love your simple and understandable instructions for making these doll shoes. I have seen other videos, but none are as well explained as your video. Thank you so much. I will buy all the things you have in this video and start making doll shoes again.
I am so sorry I just now saw your comment. THANK YOU so much!! the video was raw and rough...one of my very firsts...lol I am so glad you found this very informative and understandable...that is truly who I am as an educator of sewing!!
Thannk you so much for your tips this was a brilliant video and for a new starter will have probably saved me money buying the wrong products your shoes are adorable and your boots are masterpieces
I have subscribed as I wasted time with tiny barbie clothes so know I'm giong to make clothes such as these beautifully done and nice tips thank you 🇬🇧
Thank you so much, I don’t actually make patterns, I would just google search those key words I believe I have seen some patterns out there that would work!
Wonderful job, Connie! I'm one of those people who make shoes without using the doll's foot (though I will check how it looks) or a cobbler bench. I really need one of those, it would be much easier than flipping a doll around!
When you're cutting the edge notches into the shoe tops, could you use one of the notch cutters they sell for sewing patterns? Seems like it would be faster.
Thank you for sharing . Your shoes are beautiful. Just one advice so you don't burn your fingers; you can get in amazon or crafts stores silicone finger tips. I use one on my index finger to press initially ( that's when usually the hot glue spill and burn )and then if I need to feel the surface to make sure the project is fine I use my naked fingers because by then the glue is not that hot. Hope it helps
I have been trying to draw the sole and pattern by tracing mine of a close up of yours on my phone As I don't have a computer.but I can't get it right.i tried measuring sole 18 inch but top part I can't get right lol
i have a pair of shoes (size 6) that i would love to make a pair for my doll 18”. i love to sew and recently thanks to you have gotten into Cobbling. but i am not an “engineer” so figuring out how to make my shoe smaller is a no go for me😢. i would love share a picture of my shoe with you. thank you Corina with you a picture
Love this and your other videos. Have the little "cobbler" feet too. Have been splurging on Appletotes shoe/boot patterns and this isn't a "sole" question but hope you can help. Only vinyl I can easily find seems to have adhesive backing - mostly for crucuit use. I just want to make shoes and wonder if you can use it leaving the adhesive backing on. All the cute colors and patterns seem to come this way. thanks - and will be watching more of your videos as I find the. (Now off to embroider 8 pair of sneakers (for great nieces and their 3 BFF) on faux vinyl and HOPE my foam for soles arrives as promised today. Cutting the triangles on the toes has made my shoes 95% better - more little triangles.
OH I am so Happy to hear!! Ok so I usually find all my vinyl...actually you want to put in Faux leather sheets or just faux leather...on Etsy...or maybe Amazon...this will bring you to the NON adhesive very thin ones for the cricut...totally different vinyl. I hope this helps!
@@Sewgirlful Thank you. I've been using faux "leather" and have some that is "mermaid" right now (most shiny and so forth) but have seen some shoes that were very shiny in colors and patterns I've never seen. I also have some glitter sheets that I've used for different things - and some real leather I've made shoes for my dolls with - and belts. Not sure why I'm signed in as MattsGrandmother when my main channel is RallyJudge - but I've never figured out RUclips. (Most of my videos posted are dog training - I need some of these fancy doll sneakers for my dog show outfit. ). Thanks for all the help and the wonderful videos.
I always get more glue on me than the shoe. Have small tip gun and only squirt a little. Any hints? Have made 5 different apple totes shoes, last few days
I havnt got a sewing machine can it be done by hand please.im not understanding the triangle bit.i have watched vidio 4 times and can't see a triangle.unless your naming something triangle.i will keep looking as I realy want to make shoes.i have barbie ones but fed up with tiny tiny ones lol
Hi Jeanette, so if I am understanding your question, the triangles are the snips you take within the 1/4 at the edge of the shoe as you will need this to glue around the inner sole and have some of the vinyl release and less bulky. I hope that helps.
Another question, see you are using one of the Appletotes shoes (the pink one while applying edging) - do you use cut away/tear away/water soluble stabilizer and if not water do you leave the tear away on? Making the tennis shoes and tearing all that stuff away is driving me to drink. ;-)
I actually use the tear away stablizer which is way easier and I can get most off the shoe!! Tip at times I use is a pin...to kinda pick it out when needed HOWEVER, I don’t actually get ALL of it taken off just stuff I know will show from the outside
8:26 OMG adorable. Please help. Saw your video and had to make them, so ordered them and realized they needed embroidery, my machine does it but I cannot figure out how to unzip, Sad to say Appletote said they cannot help me. Question, do I need a special app to so call unzip? I am lost, Thanx Pamster
um Ok whenever I get a zip file, I just in the downloads click on it and it should say unzip? it has been a while....what do you have a Mac or PC? I have a Mac and I think it does it automaticlly....The only thing I can think of is go to youtube and do a search for your specfic computor and see what comes up on unzipping files...Gosh I am sorry I am probably no help either...yikes
I found a adult metal shoe making stand in my grandads shed years ago I am 72 and I wonder how they done shoes in those days but its like your miniature one but metal 🇬🇧
Hey Connie, love your videos. On your kittie cat nap shoes, what materal did you use for the sole? I have seen a few shoes with some kind of a design impressed into the sole bottom. I think it could have been embossed by a embossing folder for scrapbooking. Instead of running it through the big shot though, which flattens and mis-shapes the foam. lay the foam on one side of the embossing folder and use a rolling pin or brayer with just enough pressure to emboss the pattern onto the foam. I like that look. Have you seen it and do you know a better way of doing it?
Thanks so much, So the for ALL my soles (out ones I have been using just the 5/6mm thick fun foam stuff you get in the craft section. That is it. And that is a great idea to emboss...I have only seen this done when they make the clay soles...or at times if you have a 3D printer. but I love that idea, go for it let me know if your technique works!!
The link for purchasing vinyl shows the seller is no longer selling at this time. Any suggestions for where to purchase? What type vinyl? What is it called?
Hi Sandra, I am sorry I am now just getting back to you...Ok so basically go to etsy and search these key words and a lot of different shops will pop up for the vinyls... ‘faux leather sheets’ ‘faux leather printed sheets’ things like that
I appreciated your tutorial, and grateful I was on the right track when I asked about a shoe cobbler!! The cost of it is better than reinventing the "soul" that I was planning on. Couple of questions though! I have found 6mm sheets of foam online, but what cutting tool do you use to cut them out? Scissors or an xacto blade. Have you tried a Cricut type machine to cut your chipboard/insoles and souls? I had purchased Cinnamon Miles, Simply Shoe tutorial course. She was pretty fast - experienced!! But I was wondering why she didn't cut triangles before gluing the shoe onto the chipboard. Glad to see you did this. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Ann, Ok so I cut my 6mm foam with just my scissors. And I don’t cut with my cricut at all for my doll shoes, Now how I cut my chipboard is by a scroll saw! Just like using a sewing machine! lol and they turn out great and save my hands. Before I go it for Christmas last year I was cutting them out by hand with scissors! As far as everyone doing their cutting.. that is personal preferance but I don’t think she worked alot with vinyls either so that could have been it. But I know that when you really cut out the triangles with any thickness like I stated it goes smoother around the inner sole
Hi I just came across your channel & enjoyed your tutorial very much. My question is where is the link for the shoe cobbler? I was going to create my own but why reinvent what is already available. Thanks in advance for the info...
Hi Linda, Glad you enjoyed this!! Yes the link to the stand is in the description of this video!! And I agree why re invent the wheel!! Happy Cobbling!! So much FUN
For the featured project. That is an ITH Embroidery design pattern so the Needle used is an 80/12 embroidery needle. For the seaming I use a 80/12 Microtex needle, and a normal foot as you are seaming with right sides together and should move fine. If you are sewing top stitching on top of your vinyl then I would highly recomment your stitch length be at least a 3.0/3.5 and you use a teflon pressor foot.
Well depends on what textile I use actually for the needles. but in all these you saw in this video I used a 80/12 size. And when you are top stitching vinyl you really want to invest in a teflon foot. hope this helps
Hi Carol, Um honestly I can’t remember what the brand is. but I found mine at like any craftstore. Look close it will say it on the package. I have seen them like Walmart, JoAnn’s, Micaels and Hobby Lobby to name a few..even online check that..I would say small precision nozzle in the search for glue guns
Hi Gretchen, We are working with like AG and others like that and they definatly have a right and a left shoe...so that is why you need to flip it as mirror image to have a right and a left shoe
Thank you so much, Well I know at time some of the family say the T...lol...but actually it was Tkac’ when my husbands family first come to America...that is all I know..
They have a silicone thing that fits on your finger like a thimble for hot glue. My daughter gave me one. I am sorry I don’t know what it is called or where she got it.
I just subbed you. I make doll clothes and accessories and I have so much fun. I have an etsy shop I have that I will be putting things in there I make. It's not up and running yet. It will be opened in the next couple weeks.
Can you tell me where to get the vinyl. The Etsy link you have says the page could not be found. Also when looking for vinyl sheets. What kind. There is adhesive and heat transfer. Thinking it is neither of those. What should I be looking for?
Hi, Ok so when you do your search it is actually vinyl fabric...so hmmm I need to check that link I think it is still a working etsy shop..I am sorry but ya you want upolstry vinyl or the other printed vinyl sheets are still a fabric type vinyl.
