One of the few "still rockn" songs of the 70's when everything started to go Helen Reddy,Ronstadt and Cool and the Gang. you mentioned 2 gtrs for the Dsus. One way to get it is to play the power chord "closed" like the riff (2 beats) then open the G for the second half...good stuff.
The third chord explanation of a D add11 was explained by another uTuber. A D add11 needs an A which there is none. If you mute the high E and add the low A strum the lower 5 strings, it is a Gmaj9
