I love your ideas! Maybe to get better control of your direction of travel you could add a couple small fins that run the length of the boat below the water line on the sides.... or even one fin down the center? Just a thought. Keep up your work/play!
I got an idea for you.. Bike cranks that drive a propeller, bike handle bars to steer. Recumbent bikeboat. I love your videos and your creations! If only i had the money and place to build i would copy your ideas and change them a little. LOL just kidding but i do love to invent and see others inventions!!! Keep it up sir!!!
I really like this fin concept, I just started building a similar sized pedal boat which will be powered by two fins moving in opposition directions of each other rather than just one. My theory is that the two fins will balance each other and make for a smoother ride. I'll post a video of it when finished- probably ~3 weeks from now.
I like this video, particularly as it gives some insight (or secrets) into how you build to boat. Is the big secret the hair dryer and the pizza cutter? Can hardly wait for the plans! Flexibility appears to be the key issue with this form of propulsion. I wonder if bamboo might be a better medium than PVC pipe (assuming it is easily to hand). Also, are you familiar with the Mirage drive on Hobie kayaks? I like your method of multi-tasking! ;)
Have you played with an RC electric motor powered by RC Lipo 6 Cell batteries. It would be interesting to see you come up with something for your boat. You can get the parts cheaply at HobbyKing.
If I wasn't already a subscriber I probably would have closed this video. I found the intro a lot creepy man. Just some constructive criticism. Love the boat :)
waiting on taxes to make sure i have all the materials i will need but i am trying to combine your coroplast house with your coroplast boat to make a one man house boat any way you could make one and show it off?
I made and installed one fin from what aluminum I had kicking around. I'll add another on the next test run which should help the transom sway factor.
You may notice I don't give away ALL my secrets! :)
Plans coming...
Nice boat. Very interesting propulsion.
It was a great day to be out and about. And, a perfect way to spend it -- on the water!
Yes and yes.
I could have gone with any number of drive materials. PVC is a great DIY matirial readily available in most areas. It's 3.5 pounds.
Yes
Loving your expressions Paul !!!
It won't steer you not a fish it's great love the concept Paul UK
I removed the 30 intro. It was kinda funny but visually spooky.
Dramatic beginning. :)
DIY is not an addiction. I can quit any time I want.....I can...No I really can.

It seems like if you extended the gunnels past the transom you will have more suface area and have more resistance to the side to side action.
I made one a while back. It's on my channel, or Kirsten Dirksen made a documentary on me showing lots of stuff.
Great idea for a low budget boat.

Hmmm. I like that idea...

Paul, at my DIY meetings, we actually get to make our 12 steps out of plywood.
You're absolutely right Luvs2sun1. It was VERY creepy! Thanks for that.
awesome job mate
You my inspiration on building my chloroplast atv camper! Amazing!!
Send some pictures when you're done!
Trust me it'd be an honor!
Very clever!!!
Great concept, have you revisited your original idea of having it pass through the hull and under the boat allowing you to face forward when moving?
lol paul very funny intro!

When you are scoring the coroplast, are you cutting it or just creasing it?
I'm just making an indent or crease, definitely not a cut!
You added a stabilizer fin but didn't mention it.
needs more of a frame to strengthen the vessel and support the top...
You should run some cables to the front and figure out a hand operations Paul !!!

I'm interested. Contact me at paulwelkins@ yahoooo dot cooom
Any news on this?
Is that a pizza cutter?
You're having too much fun. Have you thought of a propulsion system that works like a dolphin tail?
Understood.
I liked it at the time, but if you don't know my videos it may creap you out and leave, which is not my goat.
hello Paul...
What was creepy? I went back to watch a second time to see what you were talking about.
