  • Pancreatic Cancer Vaccines With Amazing Results in Phase I
    Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is one of the most lethal cancers with a 5 year survival rate of less than 10%. mRNA designer/personalized vaccines are changing this situation. Let's review the results of phase I trials.

      Nature is what gave the cancer, so letting it run its course means death for most people. Immunotherapy is using our body’s natural fighting system. We prevent deadly childhood illness by teaching T cells what to fight. Why not teach them to fight cancer?

      Strong side effects is the heartbreaking reality of many patients receiving intense chemotherapy which cannot tell the difference between a dividing cancer cell and a dividing healthy cell. This is why so many people lose hair and face nausea. This is exactly what immunotherapies are hoping to prevent. By using the patience’s immune cells, it should provide an intelligent and specific target system that easily tells apart cancer from healthy tissue

      Institutions around the country are working tirelessly to fight this disease with immunotherapy. For example Tumor Infiltrating T cells are already being harvested directly from the tumor tissue. These know how to fight cancer already but are exhausted from the fight. These can be grown outside of a person and then given back stronger and healthier. See the work of Dr. Shari Pilon-Thomas in Google Scholar for details

    • @sarahlulu4947
      @sarahlulu4947 4 месяца назад +1

      We can still make an effective therapy without understanding everything about pancreatic cancer. We understand how the body recognizes cancer using immune cells. Neoantigens are special proteins that only the cancer has on the cell surface. We teach the cells of our immune system to recognize neoantigens using the vaccine. It’s like when someone posts a “most wanted poster” in the center of a city. You don’t need to know the life story of the criminal in question, just how to recognize him and alert authorities. Similarly, a vaccine can teach the body how to recognize and attack pancreatic cancer even though we are still unraveling the biology behind this disease.

    So the trial results are only relevant to patients after resection and other SOC treatments? Many PDAC patients aren't lucky enough to be operable. At diagnosis my husband didn't even have mets, and still wasn't operable. Than he had chemo combined with Valter Longo's protocol, the tumor shrunk, but still was too close to blood vessels. Now my friend have been diagnosed with same cancer. Only one blood vessel is involved and she's not operable, since the tumor is again too close to large blood vessels.
