Me showing you how to fully reassemble a playstation 3 controller, very in depth. if you have any questions feel free to ask!
I like how most videos say full assemble but no video has yet showed how to assemble the L/R 1/2 ... :( that's what I need..

This is how you do the l1 and r2 it's essay all you have to do is cry on the floor because you upset you can't do it and because you have to buy a new controller because you smashed it on the floor
Tip for reattaching the back panel: if you feel it’s not snug or want to try again do NOT pull the cover away; pull upwards instead! It’s going to save you a ton of headaches trust me.

When I was reseating mine, I wasn't sure how the spring went, but it last against the mounting mechanism. Also one of my trigger mounts actually popped out too and I had to snap it back in. Took a minute because I was being mindful to be gentle, but eventually it all clicked together.
Put the spring on the outside

The springs have both "legs" "mounting"/"straddling" the corresponding flat white plastic part then snap the round pivot end of the trigger into its slot and it should work

Thanks! I was having extreme trouble closing the backplate and you made me realise the R/L2 buttons had to sit on the side slots.

Thanks bud got my controller properly assembled within 5 minutes thanks to your video, last time I took it apart I spent over an hour trying to put it together again and the L1 and L2 didn't work properly at all afterwards.
took me probably 20+ attempts to get the shell back on, it kept knocking the triggers off, but eventually got it, cheers for the help !

This is not full reassembly. L2 and R2 triggers are already in place? lol.

It is because the triggers aren't in their place, it's like a puzzle, you have to fit it into the right place, 3:36 in the video, is what i'm talking about.
Thank you! My buttons had come off with the bottom cover and for a moment I had no idea how to get the buttons out and the springs back in place.
Looking at how bright white his rubbers are; reminded me that like my controller, I too am old now
It is because your ps button doesn't make contact with the circuitry, the circuitry is where the LED's are, make sure you push everything into place, I had the same problem, and fixed it like that.
The back of the controller doesn't snap back on the left side properly but it's fine on the right. This makes the left R2 button stick and has a lot of resistance when trying to spring back up.
thanks man. I didn't realize what was wrong with the trigger buttons at first. I had only been messing with it for a few minutes before I watched this video. Glad I saw this before i broke something
you need to make sure that all of the ends of the ribbon are lines up with the pegs. the pegs have to go through the hols and stay there
pro tip to help keep from dropping the screws while re assembling rub the magnet on the tip of yous screw driver to magnetize it
@GavinEaster there should be a small hole on the back of the controller look for it and get a paperclip or thumb tack and stick it in there and you should here a noise then just hook it up to your ps3 and it should turn on
The last tip is the best tip 👍🏽
Thank you for posting. It showed me what to do with the two plastic clips I could not work out where they came from. Turned out they were to hold the battery in place (which I had just replaced with one which is not held in place with a sticky foam pad).
A bit out of focus / blurry and I had to watch a few times to see how the spring went in. Otherwise, good vid!
I was having trouble with the shoulder trigger springs my internet was slow as hell while I waited this to load I was trying to get the springs in place and I did it accidentally but still a cool video

Thank you, I just did some cleaning of my PS3 Pad (the X key became a bit wobbly - all it required was cleaning the key chute) and I panicked as I couldn't close it back into place because of the trigger keys. Your video helped my to fix it, and probably saved me some good £30 :)
best paint to use is krylon FUSION regular krylon will get the job done. Krylon Fusion specially bond to plastic.

where exactly do the springs line up, after i had to reassmble mine, my left back trigger will depress without me puttin force on it, i thnk i pplaced the spring wrong

move the tiny spring like things under the trigger up a bit more or down a bit more then put the trigger back onto the main piece

No one seems to show how to get the rubber pads for the triggers back into that plastic guide, if it pops out. That happened to me and it is A REAL pain. I can get it back in correctly
thanks bro,i was having trouble puttn mt bk together and my r2 triggs came apart from the plastic circuit and the rubber bumber piece.that was biggest pain gettn to fit bk together but your vid was the only one tht showed how to put bk in the r2 buttons if came off.so thanks alot man your vid helped ALOT!!!!
You forgot a very important step dont give the PCB in the ps3 controller a electric shock if you do the controller will be destroyd. Tip to avoid this dont be on places where you can get electrical. Ex if your cat walks in and jumps up on your knee and the cat can be electrical and you are in the same time reassemble the ps3 controller the electrical can lead to you from the cat and if you give the PCB a electric shock its not funny anymore. Sorry i forgot my English language i hope you understand a litlle
Just cleaned it and the l2+r2 both weren't feeling right once I got it back together. They didn't snap back like they should have when pushed.
Little tip, not sure if it got covered in the video. The little metal pieces should both go on the same side. Meaning, both should be underneath the guard or towards the bottom. I had it to where one was on top, and one on bottom, but it was mushy.
Idk if that makes sense or helps, but basically both of those metal tabs should be on the bottom, and it'll feel kinda weird, but having both on the bottom side creates that spring tension.
The light flickers, so it will probarbly work :)

i am having the same problem the problem is the there is power obviously but the is a strip between to boards that connect the two if it does not line up perfectly you will have problems controlling the controller so when yo take apart the controller look for a strip next to the usb plug in. then look at the bottom board and connect the strip to the board and your controller should work. hope i helped.

Tooke a while to get the r1 and r2 back in but I eventually got it

I believe it would have helped if you did put tape in there when you painted the it.

Thanks, it was helpful! The lower 2 buttons I couldn't get right though, in your movie you have them attached to the plastic before you put the cap on.. I didn't see how they were supposed to fit, so I had to have them sit loosely in the bottom of the controller, and it wasn't so easy to fit it together! It works again now, and my square button can be used as a non sticking BRAKE in Gran Turismo again
I've been at this for hours and I just CANNOT understand what I'm doing wrong. Is seems there's always L2 is fine until I tighten the screws then it fucks up and seems stiff
connect it to ur ps3 and see if the controler works sometime when i turn my ps3 on it take a while for the controller to connect to the ps3 or ur battery is dead and u need to charge it
I had the trigger problem where the back plate would knock them off and not go on right. I watched your video... Then I realized I had the rumble motors in wrong. :/ Apparently a Sixaxis is slightly different inside.

took mine apart to replace a broken spring and clean it (to see if that fixes some movement issues), but the back cover will not reattach.
it'll get partway on, but the rear triggers will get stuck or those parts on the case will fly off forcing me to start over.
I'm getting seriously pissed off.
You didn’t show how to get the triggers back in when it’s been fully removed including the contact pad

while its blinking, keep pressing the home button, it worked for me

mine doesn't want to turn on I spray painted it myself and then when I put it back together it didn't want to turn on I haven't watched this video yet but I will see what happens after your video

HA! yup had same problem with green circuit thing coming off the trigger piece,it sucked to fix!
@MrMalditor nvm I got it, apparently the l/r2 buttons weren't seated right.

Does the model of the ps3 controller make a difference? I'm trying to swap the internals of one controller that was chewed by a dog with the case of another controller? The vibrators don't seem to fit

i used the same paint you used in the video and cleaned the controller the same and sprayed it the same way you did and it dissolved the plastic on my controler now i cant use it.
I've resembled my controller, everything working but the two bottom buttons 1/2 are quite stiff. but work. An the left hand side hand grip isn't completely
put back together and clipped into place... Help?
