    I recently bought my first console, a ps3. The console itself was in incredible condition, but the controller.... pure horror. It was the first time I had to take apart any piece of tech. The controller was not only dirty, but the spring for the shoulder button was broken. Had to wait a few days in order to replace it. Now that I've cleaned everything I can enjoy some classics ;)

    I’m surprised people think it’s Difficult to do this. I did it with one I bought a few weeks ago and everything went smoothly. Maybe because I was working with a Model that’s easier to take apart, I have 3 PS3 controllers and they’re all different internally. Either it’s super satisfying seeing a Beautiful clean controller in the end.

      They're not too bad. I will say for the first time though they are a nightmare putting back together, specifically for keeping everything in place while you put the two shells back together.
      But yeah I agree not too bad lol, just restored 3 of my own and loving it

    I've never taken apart a controller before but I didn't want to buy another one. The left thumbstick was acting haywire and causing the right stick to move when it wasn't supposed to. The buttons weren't responsive as they should be. This totally helped me now it's working perfectly.

    These suckers were always a PAIN to get back in one piece. Especially that back plate. Took me half an hour once. Maybe an original ps3 restoration coming soon?

      Yeah it takes a lot of fidgeting. I’d like to do a PS3 on video one day! I’m on a shoestring budget so it all comes down to what I find :)

      I had such a hard time when I first tried it. In the end I sucessfully reinstalled all pieces but it would have been better if I put in L1 and L2 just like this youtouber does.

    This video was extremely helpful as I was trying to restore my old controller but the joystick mechanism was completely busted and nothing made it work properly

    You make it look so easy lol. I took one apart once and that's as far as I got. I put it away in a Ziploc bag...

    What did you use to clean the plastic? And was that any brush? Did you clean the electric components as well with some liquid solution?

      @RestorationRelaxation 2 года назад +2

      Dish soap for the plastics, isopropyl alcohol for the electronics. And any brush will do
