My Montenegro trips continues near Niksic where I am exploring the famous Ostrog monestary. After, I get stuck hitch hiking and end up wild camping in a wineyard, followed by an amazing sunrise!
Hey Emil, like super smalll or normal small? Im very happy with the trekkertents, super lightweight! But a bit expensive maybe. Check it: ruclips.net/video/OkuCC4W-19U/видео.html
I've travelled without knowing where I was going to spend the night but I really don't enjoy it unless I set out intending to, and fully equipped, to camp. When I did it staying in hotels, travelling on a motorbike in Switzerland/France and also on trains/hitching in Scotland, it left me feeling very isolated and unsafe. This part of Montenegro is really overlooked, I think. I wonder what the locals would think if you knocked on their door in the evening and asked to camp on their property? Is it like Switzerland, where you can legally camp anywhere, or do you need to fly under the radar?
The locals would have not spoken any english I am afraid. I tired around 15 minutes to find someone to ask if its okay (using my hand and feet haha), but sadly no one was around and it got really dark. Walking on the mountain road without any light would have been unwise, especially since I had around 27km left to walik or so, thats why I decided to camp in the bush. Nobody would really care too much in Montenegro unless you destroy their property or leave a mess. The number one rule for wildcamping is to leave everything exactly the way you found it. (or cleaner by taking garbage) - in German, switzerland etc you could get into problwems for sure based on a different mentality.
Not really, the only scary time was in africa when we had wild lions around after getting stranded with a broken jeep in the middle of the remote parts of the Serengeti :O

Very nice, Chris. 😊 Do you have a recommendation for a small tent for trips like that?

Do you ever feel scared camping alone in the dark (especially surrounded by barking dogs)?
