Seth, great podcast as usual! During the Jamie Foxx story, I heard in my head, Tim Minchin singing in 'Thakyou god for fixing the cataracts of Sams' mom' how god will "take a break from giving babies malaria, drop down to your local area to fix the cataracts of your mom!" , so aprapos! Now, I can kind of excuse Dawkins a tiny bit due to potential brain damage from his stroke. He is an old biologist who can't seem to separate sex and gender. And sadly, he, years ago, told a story of how sad it was that an old professor couldn't accept new info. Now he's that very thing. Also. Seth. You look better than ever! No botox needed. 👍🏼💙💝💙💖💙🥰✌
It reminds me of a video a lady filmed, asking God for a whale to appear from the ocean. Lo and behold, a whale appeared. A true miracle. Alas, God didn't stop 230,000 people from drowning in the 2004 tsunami.
Once I saw a documentary about a Portuguese ophthalmologist who was allowed to work in North Korea for a few weeks. He cured an old man of cataract. And for the first time in his life this old man saw his 10 year old grandchild. He fell to his knees crying in front of the picture on the wall of that first, already deceased leader, Kim Il-sung. And thanked him profusely. It is precisely the backwardness of this leader and his son and grandson that this old man did not receive proper eye care in the first place. You can easily replace those backward leaders with a god.

I'm sorry to say that I've forgotten who it was who said it (on one of the atheist/human secularist YT channels), but it helped crystallized my thoughts on death. I'm not concerned, at all, with the lack of existence, or what happens after death. But I have considerable stake in having some measure of control for the "how" and "when". And I think that may be true of many people. It's the idea of 'dying' , and the accompanying pain and drawn out misery (which many people experience with their elders) that is what's really scary. Jamie Foxx and Denzel Washington have both pushed their god beliefs whenever they've been interviewed. Now, of the two actors, Denzel is my favorite. I especially like his take on "The Equalizer "film, which is his version of the original tv series from back in the 80s starring the late Edward Woodward. Denzel cranks up the character's intensity and the threat of seriously violent payback to the criminals. Woodward's version is more cerebral, and he hated using violence, and his version of that character was a former British Intelligence agent, like from M-I 6.
Oh man, Seth saved himself. It only got worse. I made it about half way through. It became a sermon. I tried really hard to keep watching but had to save myself. Some of it just made me sad.

The hardest thing for me and knowing that there is no eternity is when my oldest son died just a few months ago. My tears are for myself because I know I will never talk to him or see him again like when he was alive. I've been dealing with several chronic, genetic diseases for close to 20 years now. One day, my son said that he was going to the urgent care. He wasn't into medical care and believed a lot of nonsensical conspiracy theories, so I knew this was serious. Just a few days later, he was dead. What the damn hell? I'll never get to talk to him again or give him another hug. It's completely over and he was only 38 years old. 😭😭😭😭😭
I have a comment for the mom with the autistic son. I’m autistic and so are two of my children. If he’s able to articulate those fears he’s completely able to process a response like Seth’s. This was a fear I grew up with, and being raised with the fear of hell did not help that. I have a 6 year old now with autism and she constantly ruminates over death and what’s going to happen after, and I didn’t raise her in religion. The autistic brain needs order and definition and answers, and anything that’s unknown is terribly frightening to us. But accepting that there are things that don’t have answers is a really important skill for us to learn. We won’t always know, and that will be really uncomfortable, but we can focus our energy on making the most of what we DO have right in front of us.
Thanks for reminding me Seth, I have a question 🙋♀️ How do you people keep living in Tornado Alley states when, as you said, a tornado strikes every 10 minutes..!!! I live in Canada and we have bad snow storms 5-6 times during winter months. If those storms were to come all year long, many times a month? I would have been long gone by now. And those storms? Nothing, like NOTHING like your tornadoes!!!
On Dawkins, calling himself a cultural Christian with soft spot for the aesthetics of the faith shouldn't be treated so critically. I know atheists who no longer follow their Hindu beliefs but call themselves cultural hindus, those who were once Muslims who are cluturally muslim. And I'm pretty sure this whole cultural Christian thing is not new; he basically said as much in the God Delusion. It felt pretty obvious to me that that's what he was saying. Anywho... You're awesome even when I feel compelled to push back.
My bf was a theatre major years ago. I have got to be frustrating to watch stuff with because as he says, I don't have suspension of disbelief. I don't enjoy sci-fi, fantasy, or many other genres. I know that will get me tons of flack but I assure you, I have tried many times. I don't find those movies or tv shows entertaining. So I watch mostly docs & other non-fiction things. Trust me, I wish I loved those things mentioned, because that's what's "in." And yes, many have lessons. I just don't find the stories credible or fun. I find that a lot of atheists enjoy sci-fi. So even in this group, I'm out of place. What is weird is that outside of movies, I have an incredibly good imagination. I'm so glad to hear Kat loves his new stairs!! 🥰 And Seth, the Dawkins position on Elon's dumbazz kills me, too.
I looked up the Muhammad name thing as I’d also heard it. The BBC reported that it was indeed the most common boy’s name this year- not in the whole UK, but in England in 4 out of 9 counties. In Wales it was 63rd, and not common in Scotland either. Still noteworthy, but maybe not so much as Musk reported.
Thank you for watching and reviewing so I don’t have to. I would have also started talking to the TV and been furious. Much like when I was going through cancer treatment and perfect strangers would ask if they could add me to their church prayer list. No thank you. I’ll thank the atheists who brought meals to my family and paid to have our house cleaned.

At one point of the show Jamie Foxx described thinking that god gave him a seizure because he forgot about god. I about threw up in my mouth. Can't imagine singing the praises of something so disgustingly abusive.

41:20 Ha! Every time someone asks me that, I say: "Oh, that's easy. god waved his wand and POOF it happened" them: "I thought you said, you didn't believe in God?" Me: "Well, you book says he did, so..." Them: "But Atheis-" Me: "No Atheist has ever said what you claim. Your book claims your god did, though. Go read it." Then I just walk away.
I didn't like the Jamie Foxx special at all. He was still Jamie Foxx. I didn't think that he was at all humble. Said that God gave him the stroke because of not going to church. Give me a break! It really helps that he is famous and has a lot of money. I'm sure he had the best of care. Thanking God totally pissed me off. He was humoring his audience.
Dawkins seems not only out of touch with a lot of things, he's going totally bonkers. My explanation for the difference in experienced time is, as kids we wait on stuff, mainly christmas and birthdays, the days you get presents for no reason. As you get older, you may still get presents, bu6t you don't anticipate it that much anymore.
Maybe Jamie was still high on the pain medications they gave him while he recovered. But this doesn't surprise me since it's someone that's a comedian/actor. Go listen to Jim Breur and his Q anon type rants. I think Jim is an awesome comedian, but when I heard him talk about the conspiracy theories he's into, I was like "WTF has he smoked?!". I know that's not what Jamie Foxx was spewing, but it's not far off.
Saying Harris and Dawkins are “going after trans people” is silly and inaccurate. Harris hasn’t even come close. And Dawkins simply holds an unpopular view about it. He’s not “going after” anyone.
I watched a little bit of the show but was turned off by so many curse words. Jaime was never one of my favorite comedians. I don't really like his sense of humor.

There is a God and eternity. Don't lose hope.
What colour is the cat?
There were angles there? Were the California Angles players there? Were they in town?
*angels. Angles are found in geometry.
Thanks for reminding me Seth, I have a question 🙋♀️
How do you people keep living in Tornado Alley states when, as you said, a tornado strikes every 10 minutes..!!!
I live in Canada and we have bad snow storms 5-6 times during winter months.
If those storms were to come all year long, many times a month?
I would have been long gone by now.
And those storms? Nothing, like NOTHING like your tornadoes!!!
I had the same problem with the special. I couldn't finish it.
I had to go find the video of Kat using the stairs. Yay Kat!!
Not saying this about Foxx specifically, but it is a lot harder to respect people who make preposterous assertions.
God is real.
Out out Damned thoughts, hahahaha
Id like a cat t shirt!!
💙
The meaning of life is death...
I would have said "no I am now 6'1 11.5" now lol
Im with you ! I had to walk away from his Special . I like him but the entire Jesus thing turned me off
Why?
Thank you for watching and reviewing so I don’t have to. I would have also started talking to the TV and been furious. Much like when I was going through cancer treatment and perfect strangers would ask if they could add me to their church prayer list. No thank you. I’ll thank the atheists who brought meals to my family and paid to have our house cleaned.
Richard Dawkins seems like he’s gone senile with his takes lately.
Imagin my mom thanking god for finding her diamond ring a (miracle)
There may be a need to remodel the steps into a ramp with age.
This question is for every Christian everywhere. How does God separate good from evil without separating himself into two half beings?
I'm waiting for the limbs to grow back miracle it's cool that your team won and you have a nice luxury vehicle but can God give a kid his leg/s back for once?
Three words about Richard Dawkins - guilt by association.
37:16 - How dare you, Natalie. 😛 I wish I looked as good as he does NOW.
I'd buy a shirt with your cat on it 🤷♂️
Jamie Fox - Rich Black Privileged.
Mr fox may become a preacher
Really?!
In defense of the poor, even a phone with GPS requires internet access or downloaded maps. Some people are so poor that they can't afford a smartphone that is fast enough to run Google Maps.
I thought I was the only one who noticed that. I was watching the Jaimie fox stand up and I honestly had to turn it off. Not because he was funny but because he kept crediting god for saving his life who any evidently proof. I’m so happy he was able to overcome his illness
Musk intelligent lol 🤣😂😅
I would be very concerned that Michala's family have been talking to her kid, behind her back, trying to recruit him to christ, and may have caused these concerns because they don't understand how he would process the things they've told him.
god worked through the doctors to save Jamie rather than not allow him to suffer a stroke in the first place. 🤭😂
@@NeilHadynNicholson The almighty and the most merciful God works in a mysterious way, he ignored children with cancer and saved a celebrity millionaire
@@nobs997I wonder if the millions helped with the treatment and doctors. I bet they did.
@@joanne8568 I think the OP is being sarcastic. There’s no excuse for horrific crimes against children for this most evil of fictional characters.
@@joanne8568 I was being sarcastic.
God heals, and yet those Doctors have to sacrifice years of their young lives to study the human body.
It's so bizarre.
Strokes are known for making some people much more religious. Although, perhaps he was like this before?
I just tried to find some of the science lit. on this link, but unable to so far. I heard the study results some time ago, so perhaps it hasn't been backed up recently.
At one point of the show Jamie Foxx described thinking that god gave him a seizure because he forgot about god.
I about threw up in my mouth. Can't imagine singing the praises of something so disgustingly abusive.
I love this type of analysis because this is how I think but I’ve learned that articulating it to the Theist is futile because they go into Apologist mode 😒
Thats why in dont watch tv with my wife. But how much ego can someone have. The master of the universe creator of billions of galaxies who let children die of the most horrific deseases and let them suffer in hell for eternity sends some angels to save mr. Foxx for being not funny and play in some shitty movies for decades to come.
41:20 Ha! Every time someone asks me that,
I say: "Oh, that's easy. god waved his wand and POOF it happened"
them: "I thought you said, you didn't believe in God?"
Me: "Well, you book says he did, so..."
Them: "But Atheis-"
Me: "No Atheist has ever said what you claim. Your book claims your god did, though. Go read it."
Then I just walk away.
Perhaps Dawkins had a stroke too. lol. oh, what do you know - just looked it up. He actually did. That explains that.
hes bad because he knows a guy who knows a guy whom is bad
Dawkins seems not only out of touch with a lot of things, he's going totally bonkers.
My explanation for the difference in experienced time is, as kids we wait on stuff, mainly christmas and birthdays, the days you get presents for no reason. As you get older, you may still get presents, bu6t you don't anticipate it that much anymore.
Thanks 👍😎
Dawkins must be scared of out his mind. That has got to be the reason.
With the catalogue of contradictions in their sacred text (I say as an ex-Christian) it is impossible for the believer to be consistent.
After everything Musk Said people seem to forget. How can you forget something like that that that idiot said?
I always pray to Joe Pesci!!!
I had less tolernace than you. I turned the Jamie Foxx special off after they started the god is good blabbering..
Sounds like she was hoping he'd croak and she'd collect on the will. Seriously??? Maybe the ridiculousness is a direct result of the stroke.
I stopped watching the Jamie Fox thing a third of the way through. I found it self indulgent and narcissistic.
