I’ve never seen that happen on that Dme mate, very interesting. I wasn’t aware that some of the IVM modules had replaceable fuses either! Thanks for the knowledge
Another great video and another great teaching moment! I think I mentioned before that I have been watching your work since you were on LinkedIn (and I'll probably mention it again in the future) and I recognized that you were great a long time ago! Your diagnostic process is awesome, but your teaching ability and the way you explain is perfect! I may be biased because I have been in the trade for 30+ years so maybe I just understand exactly what you are saying but according to the feedback I get from people I have forwarded your videos to or told you about, everyone I know likes your style! Keep up the great work, and keep on teaching! 👌🏼👍🏼
Nice 👍🏼 ! Extraordinary detail ! Super helpful !! I learned lots !!! Very kind of you to share your knowledge and time with us !!!! Much appreciated . 👊🏼 🔥 🔧
Thank you for being you. Awesome to walk through the problems that come up. Very keen on B.M.W and they can get some problems too. Regards Alan automotive Electrical engineer from down under. Thanks heaps happy Easter may all the illegal immigrants go home and give the poor old London town a break
I just came across this video, great presentation and the information is invaluable, I have my sons 535i F10 at the moment with a gremlin similar to what you described, car runs great for a couple of days then cuts out, the throttle actuator starts clicking away even when the ignition is off and when you open any door it starts clicking so I’ll be going over his vehicle this weekend to check over some of the things you listed, great work and keep them coming, it’s hard to find good real information and there is a lot of garbage out there with people just chasing hits, if you had any suggestions that would be great, kind regards Bryn… Perth, Western Australia
Hi Bryn. Glad you liked it buddy. Check the fault codes pal. N55 only used valvetronic. The throttle is never really used unless valvetronic fails. The valve lift via valvetronic is what throttles these engines.
Hello there! Thats really great to hear🙂 I have another video in production that I will upload this evening. Thanks for taking the time to watch my content.
stupid question but can it be that the 3.94 volts is a bias voltage and if the ecu dosent see it if chucks a fault code ? cool share indeed can help in future repair
It could be mate. I remember seeing a similar bias voltage on that M5 smg gearbox I repaired a few months back. It was a great fault finding job and I really enjoyed it - a bit different than the usual same sort of faults I get these days 😅
Thank you for the video! I have the same fault codes, 113026 and 1F4A10. I've replaced the ISM, but it's still crank-no-start, the ISM receives 12V readings on the injector pins. Strangely, the readings for the ignition coils show 1.6V (they should be 12V), so it seems like the coils aren't receiving enough power for the car to start. Could a faulty DME be to blame? Any help would be appreciated!
I'm wondering if I can have your input on a small intermittent issue with the car. Sometimes in city driving, on light throttle, the car will jerk/kick back. Only happens on light throttle and below 2000 rpm. It doesn't seem like anything but an electrical problem - so my question is, should I change first the accelerator pedal body, as it houses the sensor for throttle position? If it's not that, it might be the throttle body. I'll take your advice on this - called your service the other day but they couldn't really say anything and you were busy. I'd be happy for you to take a look at it, but no one else please. 😁
Hello Alex. Yes we have alot of work currently. Is this the 6 series you mean? It would depend on the fault codes but often misfires can cause it. Will possibly be difficult if no fault codes but sure - book a time when available and I will take a look at it 🙂
@@allmech_BMW_fault_finding no fault codes. I've changed the coils, spark plugs and all relevant preventative maintenance is done. Otherwise the car behaves fine, runs perfectly on any other driving mode etc. no audible or perceptible misfires. I'll book a time and request you. Thanks mate. And yes, 650i.
Reminds me of a dead Porsche. Owner drove with a misfire. Cat overheated, monolith disappeared, O2 sensor shorted 12v heater to 1v sensor and burnt a wire track in the DME. DME was saved by soldering on a jumper wire.
Lucky guess 😅 I happened to have read the fault codes and saw there was a misfire on number 2 stored. It was very surprising that the coil was allowing the transistor to short to ground through it. Today the new DME was cloned and its up n running. Weird fault indeed.
Yeah I would like that but It would need to be after working day 🙂 It would be superb I agree. I can look at doing that once my subscriber count is high enough. One other idea is to offer channel membership and offer private unlisted live sessions. Lets see 👍
Yes a set of upgraded mosfet transistors. In this car we just cloned a used DME with oue flash tool. Either way is a good solution. These DME boards are hard to open so we figured cloning to be faster and easier
Every day is a school day - thank you
No worries Mark 🙂 Anytime buddy.

First for me too John. Fault finding is constantly changing. Never stays static. Thanks for watching buddy.
Great work mate, top diagnostic from a top tech 🤜🤛
A lot of quality information for everyone and I certainly had some takeaways from this fault 💪
Thanks alot Gerard 🙂

Seen this before first time it takes a bit of time then you know the process and what to look for
Also seen faulty dmes not powering the relays
It can be anything on these crates lol. Yep I get all sorts here. Had a Comfort access handle shut down the DSC today lol

Crazy but we get customers who just continue to drive em too 😅
Interesting! Why did you start unplugging coils?
Lucky guess 😅 I happened to have read the fault codes and saw there was a misfire on number 2 stored. It was very surprising that the coil was allowing the transistor to short to ground through it. Today the new DME was cloned and its up n running. Weird fault indeed.

Know its not always possible but live troubleshooting on film is the way to go in my opinion for a diag channel , but interesting all the same

Hey buddy can you recommend me a good place to repair my bmw dme
If you can post to Finland sure 🙂Otherwise not sure really
👌
Cheers Julian 🙂
So the way to fix it is to send the DME to repair?
Yes a set of upgraded mosfet transistors. In this car we just cloned a used DME with oue flash tool. Either way is a good solution. These DME boards are hard to open so we figured cloning to be faster and easier
Have that happen to me. The fuses inside were blown
Crazy that they made the fusebox non openable 🙂
simple...replace the ecu:))
This DME is tricky because the capacitors are bonded to the rear lid but we can fix this one. Thanks for watching
Yeah that one thing is Its a BMW
Shorted n mosfet
Yep
