Rory I didn't know you co-wrote this song until today. You need to listen to a version by a young boy Irish singer named Owen Mac. It's absolutely beautiful and will melt your heart. I should say he's a young man really, as I think he's about 16 years old now. His voice is so pure and melodic it will really touch your heart. He released his first album when he was about 11 or 12 I think. And his father is also a well known singer over in Ireland. They both sing very good traditional country music.
I came across Owen Mac's version one day when I was browsing here on RUclips. And that was the first time I'd ever heard the song, so that's why I didn't realize that Rory Feek had co-written it.

I go way back with country music and have seen it change into what it is today, and I haven't liked what I've seen happen. We still have a few country singers that are more traditional, or do a mix of modern and old. George Straight, Darius Rucker, Trace Adkins, Allen Jackson to name a few off the top of my head. George is getting older so he is not that 'handsome, pretty, sexy face' that Nashville seems to want today. Rugged use to be in, now it's out, it use to be about talent, not looks. I have a nephew Nick Cross now trying his hand at country music, he can't get past the up town saloons, yet he has looks, sound, plays more than 1 instrument, but has not learned you have to appeal to more than the bar crowd. His songs are just starting to hit small market stations. It took Allen Jackson 5 years to achieve stardom, his voice and the right song. While I might not like Swift's songs, I admire her poise and talent and seeing her grow up before our eyes. She will change as she ages and wants a broader audience.

I don't like most of the country music of today. When Keith Urban comes on I change the station. He doesn't sound country at all. I started listening to country a lot in the early 90s when Garth Brooks was big. He is my favorite. True country singers went away early 90s, people quit listening so they went back with Dwight Yokam, George Jones.... Now, it appears they're gone again. Luckily we have a station coming out of the North GA mountains that still plays a fair amount of the old guys and gals. And I think they play country classics Saturdays or nights. It's 99.3, I listen on the net some as well.
