RIP Richard Roundtree (July 9, 1942 - October 24, 2023), aged 81 And RIP Vonetta McGee (January 14, 1945 - July 9, 2010), aged 65 You both will be remembered as legends.
@@characterunderconstruction5891 He has Terrible taste ! This movie bombed at the box office ! Nobody liked it... it only made $1 Million Dollars... the first 2 made more than $10 Million at the box office ! The trailer isn't that bad, but I remember Hating Shaft in Africa !
I watched this Shaft on HBO Max and it’s a great adventure for Shaft and I love that Richard Rountree return in both the 2000 and 2019 film with Samuel L Jackson as Shaft
Another reason Richard Roundtree talks about being typecasted as 'Shaft' . He acted in other good films besides the P.I. character. George Reeves (not Christopher Reeves) fell into a state of depression because he wasn't offered any more roles after doing the Superman character. I've listened to lots of interviews and the concerns of some actors who prefer to move on rather than being stuck playing the same character.
the last movie of the 3 movies richard roundtree did as the legand black icon shaft, massive fan of the character, i might be white and english, but i do love blaxpolition movies, and shaft is an outsider i have been an outsider all my life, so i can relate to the character in a way. anyway i thought this was better than shaft's big score.richard roundtree plays shaft still great, john gullermin's direction is very good, better direction than the second movie, the story good a a bit dull in places but still good, the action is not bad, the acting very good, what the underrated amazing black actor the lovely frank mcrae is doing as a strange african tribesman with a strange accent i will never know, but he is still ok i prefer his normal warm voice, still i still liked this one a good way to end the shaft triolgy, thank god it did not end with the 2nd film, i reckon in the end the this film ended shaft married the lady at the end of the film, how do you explain him in samual l jackson's shaft as uncle shaft then. overall 7 out of 10. can you dig that sucker.
I am also white and British but I did not like this one at all. I thought the first Shaft was great with some fantastic characters which could have been brought back but were not. I thought the Big Score was hopeless and this one even worse.
I had no Sports Heroes growing up well I went to Yonkers Central Avenue to see shaft for the very first time I said wow I want to be like that guy.crazy years later I look like him my friends call me shaft and the answer to it.a particular girlfriend didn't like it much whenever people said holy crap man you look like Roundtree or walk up to us and say, hey man you look like shaft.lol the look on her face was priceless but I loved every minute of it.
,like a BLACK tornedo, black africa in paris means BLACK TROUBLE from shaft .................... the biggest SHAFT of all,in the hottest place of all, anybody ever counted how many times the word Black was used in this CLASSIC TRAILER 😝😂😂😎😎
The trailer looks exciting but in my opinion the film was awful. The box office thought the film was awful too - and they never made any more Shafts for the cinema until 2000.

Frank McRae
If they re-released this in theaters, I would watch it in a heartbeat.
Wow, what did I miss?
Why ? This was a Terrible movie ! Shaft fighting Africans like a Gladiator ? Who wants to see that ?
Saw this back in '73 when I was just 8 at The President Theater in The Bronx....GOOD MEMORIES!!!
I'm much younger than you, but I also watched it as a kid when it first appeared in our country - in the 90's after USSR fell apart 😅
"...Hittin the mother country like a Black Tornado!"
Rest in power Richard Roundtree. The one and only Shaft!
This is my favorite "Shaft" movie of all time. Next to the first film, of course.
GodBlessU, you have better taste than I.
@@characterunderconstruction5891 Thank you for the compliment.

@@bobgrayson6220 I kinda hoped Shaft and SuperFly would have stayed in New York with their sequels.
GodBlessU.
Superb soundtrack! Have the original vinyl LP! This is soooooo funky!
Watched this with my parents as a kid 1973 in the drive in cinema "Harbour View" Kingston / Jamaica.
Happy Days!
I challenge anyone to watch this movie without smiling at least a few times. Very smooth and entertaining movie.
This is my favorite Shaft movie.
You have Terrible taste ! The first one was way better than this Garbage !
July 9: Happy birthday Richard Roundtree. God bless
RIP to the legend. Too bad I wanted to meet the guy one day too. That would be my bucket list.
Out of the Shaft series i definitely go for Shaft in Africa forty nine years ago the last Shaft series.
RIP Brother Gordon Parks
This movie was Garbage ! It failed at the Box office for a Reason ! You only like it because you're an African !
I watched this Shaft on HBO Max and it’s a great adventure for Shaft and I love that Richard Rountree return in both the 2000 and 2019 film with Samuel L Jackson as Shaft
This should be released on Blu Ray!
It now is
Cobretti20001 Is it available in Region 2 or just Region 1?
Why ? The movie Sucked !
I think after Bruce Lee's Enter The Dragon, they needed Shaft in a stick fighting movie 😁
Love this film and genre.
Get Lt. Vic Androzzi to Africa. He will ask African slaves to stop.
Genre is great... Shaft in Africa is not great at all...

R.I.P Richard Roundtree.
Still haven't seen this but I know it's good. It's shaft !!
I only saw the 2000 one with Samuel L Jackson
Glad that actors back then
weren't engaged in so much controversy like the
present generation.
The irony to shoot the movie in a country in Africa that wasn't apart of the slave trade. Ethiopia wasn't even colonized 😂😂😂😂😂
2:20 Shaft drives Simca 1000. Hot as hell. RIP Richard Roundtree, Shaft lives on.
Who came here because of shaft 2019.😂
The first 1971 film gets the most attention while the second and this film are not that well known
Wow that's awesome Wow that's awesome!!
The biggest shaft of all time
70% of the movie was filmed in Ethiopia's capital city and also other rural villages where nomads and tribes live. The culture still exists.
Its so funny because they are speaking My mother tongue !!! My DAD was about 14 when Shaft went there haha
lol nice
i enjoyed it
ya man baby
The real Peter griffin brought me here
He has never heard of this film
Nice 🔥🔥🔥👌
What's the song in 2:23?

Omg! I am with one of actors right now loool
I wonder what Richard Roundtree is like in real life?
"I'll make it hotter than when Shaft was in Africa
Jump out a black Porshe huffing a fat cigar" - Black Thought
Shaft in Addis

In Massawa Eritrea

Who’s here in 2024/2025?
They filmed this in Ethiopia
Should've changed his name to Shaun Shaft.
I forgot that Africa used to be a country

LOVE "SHAFT"and SHAFT'S BIG SCORE!!! THIS S"HAFT in AFRICA" SUCKED BIG TIME😢!! I wish ROUNDTREE had turned it down... So low budget...
This trailer showed all the best parts of the movie and the trailer was pretty bad.
