      yeah, even if Kenteris was doped, Campbell and all the others were pure as the pope's sweat..please.. give the the Olympic champions an olive wreath for a prize as they did in ancient Greece and then we'll see what happens...make money out of all the other organisations, Olympics had a different spirit, you couldn't understand anyway..

      @@guillaumemartin9295 Kenteris had 164 doping controls during his prime,all of them were negative. His absence (along with Thanou) from Athens' 2004 Olympics was setted up by his coach and some greek politicians,just for money.Μorever, he was officially acquitted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.He never got busted positive,he never was a cheat...like the winner of 200m of Athens 2004,Shawn Crawford. Let me tell you that in 2004 he was in the best shape of his athletic career,ready to smash his 200m personal best 19.85.

    It was great seeing De Grasse take the 200 in Tokyo yesterday and finally get a gold. But watching this reminds me how much I miss the crowd reactions. So strange to see all the great races and performances in Tokyo this year without crowd noise.

      Yep. DeGrasse's gold medal 200 M run this year (2021) did beat Bolt's last 200 M gold time though. It was the 8th best 200 M time ever recorded (as of Aug 2021). 19.62 seconds

    O yeah, I remember him, Shawn Crawford . He won 200m gold at Athena and he used to competes at 100m. Back in the day he was one of the best talents at 100m along with asafa and gatlin.

    You can hear the whole stadium in Athens 2004 race booing before the start of the race. This was a result of a scandal that affected the Sidney gold medal winner Kostas Kenteris 3 hours before the start of the Olympics..
    The Greek runner had an accident with his motorbike on his way to a doping control. He ended up in hospital for a couple of days but got disqualified from the Olympics because he didn't appear for the doping control. Such a shame..

      The accident never happened. It was staged by Kenteris and his girlfriend Thanou. They were subsequently given a 31 month suspended jail sentence for staging the accident, although to be fair, an appeals court overturned the ruling.

    It's crazy, the gold medal time in 2000 was 20.09s. To put that into perspective, that time would get you 4th at the 2004 Olympics, 4th at the 2008 Olympics, 6th in the 2012 Olympics, 3rd at the 2016 Olympics, and 6th at the Tokyo Olympics

      You have to calculate the wind. If you have a tailwind it can be worth up to a second quicker at 200 m

    You can really see how much faster the times became with Bolt pushing the limits.
    Also: Johnson's record was incredible.

    Konstantin Kenteris's victory was impressive, because he stopped the dominance of black sprinters in this race.
    The last white sprinter who did that before him is Pietro Mennea in Moscow 1980. But Mennea was the WR holder going into the olympic with 19.72 secs, so it's no surprise.

Ofc 2016 Bolt is not prime Bolt, but it's cool to see how far back De Grasse is in 2nd in 2016 & then to realize he won these Olympics in 19.62, which would put him a couple meters ahead of Bolt's 2016 Olympic run.
