  • Getting a branch exactly where you would like on your Japanese maple bonsai is a matter of grafting a new branch in the spot where you would like it. Drill a hole in the trunk.Pass a branch through the hole. FIx the branch in place, cover with cut paste and wait!

Im a big fan of your channel and been watching tons of videos. Im interested on doing this on my maple. Is there a particular season for me to do this? Its currently early summer here in vancouver. Will it be applicable to do this now?

Everyone wants that original logo looking bonsai tree but nobody wants to wait 50+years 😉

True. And to be honest, I do not like grafting much. In this case there is such a large scar, that I doubt many branches will pop there.

I love your idea with the screen over the soil because I always have rodents like squirrels getting in my bonsai trees never-ending battle between my wife and always feeds the damn things and keeping peace between my bonsai I tried to squirrelanator it a clever cage I can catch 8 to 12 at a time & catch them & relocate them, but she always let them free before I can even do it 😢-So I stopped using it, just to save me the argument🙃
