the tiktok audience can be toxic so quick. i blew up on there and they did so much negative things for no reason. im excited to go heavy on youtube ever since watching your vids!

I found that with all socials these days when you get reach there's gonna be some bad apples. But TikTok does filter out and remove comments alot better than IG does (which gets really toxic and not removed)

I think people will flock to YT at first but I think shorts has a long way to go still. I find shorts to be a bit finnicky and the algorithm doesn't compare to tiktoks (yet). Also, from what I've heard, long form content is best for gaining revenue and building community on YT but it requires long term consistency, which could weed people out. Not everyone wants to create long form & we also live in a world of instant gratification...YT does not provide that, in my opinion! Great video, and good points :)

I love youtube. still my platform of choice but I wish I got into tiktok more than I did. Its beneficial to know how to master short form content and also learn a new app and be ahead or part of the curve. I guess I could always use youtube shorts now too if it does get banned.

I don't think most people get on RUclips to view shorts because TikTok exists but without TikTok, many more will.
And the thing about algorithms is the more you use them, the better they are. If you get frustrated with any algorithm and stop using it, it'll never be what you want it to be. Whatever you use the most will feel like it has the best algorithm.

Yes that definitely makes sense! But I still feel like the nature of the RUclips shorts ecosystem is still wildly different it’s very hooky feeling ~ but you could be totally correct in that I haven’t tailored my RUclips algorithm to my taste yet. I just haven’t seen the content on RUclips make that transition yet! But I bet you are right

​​@@frankii2You're correct about the current ecosystem. Though, I think that'll change drastically if people believe it's the platform they must create content on.
If most people's favorite creators are on RUclips Shorts, the whole landscape around it will change. It's tough being a platform that tries to do two things well at once though (both long and short-form content). The experience of one or both will suffer.
