❤ it's so sad to know that Susie gave birth to all these babies but they didn't survive but I would like to visualize her standing there with all her babies and they just walking off playing together❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
If you go to findagrave it shows she actually had 9 children total. 4 survived to adulthood. Her husband passed away in 1954. He remarried in 1903 and then had one more child. He is buried in Cass Cemetery. Susie also has siblings buried in Cass Cemetery.
God bless the person / persons who keep putting flowers / decorations on all of the graves . They look fresh . May they all rest in peace in Jesus name. ✝️🛐
Poor Susie must have had an RH factor or other genetic problem. Her first baby lived the longest and the others died the day of birth. Her brothers could have died of some contagious disease. My great grandfather and his brother and 2 sisters died of pneumonia in Feb 1901.
4:27 I know you said she died from complications but I’m wondering if she might’ve taken her own life. All her babies died so young and after her 5th one was born and passed the same day, she could’ve had postpartum depression. Either way, this is just heartbreaking 💔, Thank you for sharing this with all of us 🥰.
Oh my. All those babies. Those people had to bear such grief. Thats a nice little cemetery. One other commentor mentioned envisioning Susie's children all playing together there in the cemetery and I can see that along with all the other children who are laid to rest there, too. Even Susie's brothers might join in. I cant help but wonder what happened that took those brothers so early in their lives and so close together. Thank you for this cemetery walk!
That grave of little girl Campbell, daughter of Virgil and Martha Campbell (about 19:28 minutes into your video), Martha was the daughter of Lewis and Susie Thomas. Martha was first married to an Isaac Horner in 1906 and he died in 1908. Then Martha married Virgil Campbell in 1909. I couldn’t find Martha after the 1920 Census. I don’t know if she died or was divorced from Virgil and married someone else. Virgil married Mrs. Ethel Rowden in 1929. I watched your video and did some research on the Thomas family, and not related in any way-just thought it was sad about Susie and her five babies.
Who brought them all flowers? That was a lovely thought…looks so nice, and they KNOW now that they are not forgotten. So very sad….poor Susie, to have five babies and lose them almost one after the other ……dying herself three days after the last one.😢💕💐🙏 Thankyou for sharing this with us all… how lucky we are these days to have medical care to prevent things like this . 🥰🙋♀️🎄
This sweet lady lost all of her babies and then died giving birth, but it was very common. Up to 50% of babies in the 1800s would not make it to the first year. That is why so many just say "infant son" or have not been given names until after one year old to make it easier on the mother to not get so attached to the baby until they knew they would live. As a Maternity nurse and a history nut, I can tell you it was common. Sadly, it did not help the grief at all and actually made it worse. These precious angels deserve a name. I have lost babies myself and the pain is never gone. Also, the poor Momma died only 3 days after a stillbirth points to a very particular bacterial infection that still kills mothers and babies today, but we now have knowledge of bacteria and early use of antibiotics. Certain bacterial infections show their ugly presence at very specific times after birth. This is why most hospitals do not discharge a mother and baby until 2-3 days so they can make it past this time without evidence of fevers, or infection. May God rest their souls. However, I cannot say it for her husband only one year after her death, he married her sister!! Nope!! I would have to haunt him and her for the rest of their days for that one!
To get pregnant every year and lose baby every year in child birth and it was pure hell so painful and long and her poor body could no longer take it so sad
Sadly so many women in the past suffered such great loss. I cannot imagine their pain, but as others, I like to think of them in heaven happy and together.
@@barbaraschleiff3774 yes I’m thinking that really old unmarked grave you all were talking about her death much earlier than others . It appears that Susie and her husband had a son who lived until his 60’s and that Susie’s widower married her sister
This was so heartbreaking. My god this family went through so much pain. Is there an update on this family? Why did the brothers pass so close together?
I’m curious as to why Glenn Jennings Twist, the WW2 soldier, died 1995 is buried in the Hawkins Flat Cemetery in Ozark, AR. He was born & died in OK. His wife was from OK and died in OK as well as his parents. Looks like he was the last person to be buried there. Story of Susie Stephens Thomas & her 5 babies is sad. Glad she had a few children that lived until elderly.
8:20 the epitaph for David Stephens reads: “May the resurrection find thee on the bosom of thy God”. (engraved as this: May the resurrec -tion find thee On the bosom of thy God.)
