Heavy rain to ease, colder SW flow for NZ next several days

- A showery sou-west flow is about to kick in for New Zealand but before it does low pressure near the North Island will be clearing away first. The low is messy and continues to bring areas of heavy rain and drizzly stuff along the eastern side of the North Island in particular (mostly Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa and Gisborne). We have the latest on rain there and shows how it eases later on Thursday and clears on Friday.
The colder change coming on Friday will go nationwide and bring some snow to the southern ranges and colder rain showers to many western and southern parts of the nation. This new SW set-up lingers through the weekend and into next week too, bringing more surges of showers to the west (including as far north as Auckland and Northland).

Still no decent rain for Nelson 5 months of drought hoping the weather pattern changes soon .Have not had it this bad since the drought in 2000.
Yeah it's brutal in Nelson this year - and nothing yet to change this. Here's hoping the new Neutral weather pattern will bring some more chaos into winter and spark a couple good wet northerlies.

Exactly. We stopped watching the 'news' for that reason. At first it was the eyeroll at the nightly brainwashing with climate catastrophism. Then we switched it off all together.
Well it's not that I don't believe in Climate Change, I just don't get the relevance of sharing it every day in weather videos. Especially in an island nation like NZ. It's so depressing too. Who needs to hear that lecture every day in a small country when 3 billion people in Asia are polluting daily. :)
