Don't even need a new phone, just bought the S24 Ultra and am very happy. But I have to watch your review for a straight forward down to earth analysis of tech and usability of this newest tech.
From personal experience i can personally attest that Samsung Care + is WELL worth the small monthly fee for that peace of mind. I currently have a Fold 4 and in December of 2023 after over a year and a half of ownership of my Fold 4 i accidently dropped it and the crease of the inner screen had some black spots develop. I called Samsung Care + and within 15 minutes i paid my 30 dollar deductible and had an appointment to drop it off at the local Samsung certified repair center and had it fully repaired next day. I had another incident earlier this week where my fold fell out of my cars windshield mount while open and something hit the screen fully blackscreening it. Once again, made the call and had it fully repaired the next day. No questions asked either time. With these folding phones the likelihood of inner screen damage is too high to roll the dice with not getting the insurance. The two repairs i've got have paid for the monthly fee 20x over. Well worth it.
Thank you, I wonder why you're the only reviewer I've seen that has yet to accurately list the dimension changes. Everywhere I'm hearing 1mm wider and feel like I must be crazy. 1.4mm shorter and 2.7 wider is a significant change to the aspect ratio and comparing it to my fold 4 it looks and feels quite different on the front.
I really want to hope the foldable technology continues to progress. I still want a fold one of these days. But after having issues with a flip 3 and high repair cost to fix. I'm gonna hold off a little longer.
So, after the 3rd generation of foldables, at least in the United States, they made the cost of the 4th gen and on to repair only $29 or $99 if you need a whole replacement phone with the Samsung Care+. My Fold3 cracked down the middle of the crease twice and they initially were trying to charge me like $250+ with Samsung Care+ and I was just using the phone as normal and read on Reddit to report it as mechanical damage, and they replaced it both times for free since I was using the phone as normal. Have not experienced any issues with the Fold4 nor current Fold5.
Went to Best Buy and played with it. Decided to keep the S24 Ultra. After the Fold 4 I still don't have a lot of faith on folding screens. Hopefully in the near future they will be more reliable.
Ha! I also went from the Fold 4 to the S24 Ultra. Mine quit unfolding completely flat, so I replaced it after only a year and a half. 😢 I didn't open it much anyway and it's thick to carry around.
My fold 3 cracked about two months ago so I'll be switching to the z fold 6 I will say I'm so impressed with the s24+ here's hoping that excellent battery life is also on thr z fold 6
Going from 4 to 6. Had 1 TB with my Fold 4 but even with heavy use and downloads barely got to 200 GB so the Fold 6 with 512 GB was no brainer. Great trade in value
Same lol When I first got the Fold 3, I got 1tb assuming I was gonna download a bunch of games, take lots of photos and vids, etc. I ended up only using, at max, around 300gb. All my future phones, the 4 and now the 6, I just get the 512gb, which is free storage upgrade on pre-orders anyway.
I had 512gb on my fold 4 and same im at only 138gb used but yea a 1000 trade in for fold 4 was hard to pass up especially since i bought phone for 1200 so in a sense i lost 200 lol but yea im ready for 512gb fold 6 🤝
Same here my wife was like what’s the point of the upgrade from fold 4 to 6 .. I can’t say yet lol but mine is being delivered tomorrow and I’m excited.
Thanks, Lisa! Much appreciated! I'll upgrade from a Fold 4 which I had for two years! Biggest difference for me is that the two screens are now flush. It didn't really bother all the time, but when an upgrade is due anyway in the cell plan, than I'll take. On the Fold 4, one of the batteries gave up on me. Samsung changed that free of charge. For the cameras, I do not care that much. Great is great... I am not a photographer, and use the phone for working, email writing, note taking, and reading!
I purchased this as my 3rd Fold phone. I love the early sign up deals Samsung offers. I got the Fold6 for $569 after trading in Fold 5 and receiving $1400. I got the new Pro buds for almost half off so no Brainer. Didn't need another watch, but I grabbed it with the discount
Still rocking the Fold 4 since the day 1 release and have zero issues. I was hoping for major changes in the cover screen to justify an upgrade but i guess I'll stay hopeful they change the aspect ratio on the 7. If not I'm keeping another year. The problem is once you get a Fold it's too difficult to go back to a traditional phone and I dont think l can.
Lisa, I'm very happy you reviewed this! I'm ordering the Fold 6 1TB in pink. It looks so good without a case. I'm coming from a Fold 5, and luckily I haven't dropped mine once. I do have insurance for peace of mind.
The Fold series is still the best overall foldable experience. All the Chinese options barely even know what to do with the extra screen real estate; you can't even have separate home screens, for crying out loud. Plus, with the S pen, it's the only foldable you can securely hold with just one hand while the pen is in the other, even with thick cases. Unfortunately for Samsung, I love love love my Fold5, so I'm not upgrading.
@@myfakeguuglaccount8307 have you tried the OnePlus Open? They also are wider, lighter, without a big crease, better cameras, bigger and better chargers and for a lot less money.
My honor magic V2 is more capable, uses more modern battery technology enabling a foldable which is no thicker when closed than a flagship non-foldable, and implements multitasking in a much more intuitive way with gestures when compared to samsung's implementation. I would consider moving back to the z fold series if samsung invested in silicon carbon batteries which are 20% thinner for the same power density, which in turn would make their handset thickness more competitive thinner and more refined foldables, but unfortunately Samsung's utterly glacial pace in literal 1mm screen size changes and the thickest foldables on the market make samsung unviable in anywhere other than America, where there is currently a trade war with China. Fortunately this is only an American phenomena, so you guys pretend that you're satisfied when in reality you're incredibly frustrated and have little choice but to take what you're given by uncle Sam - the least innovating and thickest foldables on the market, using outdated battery technology and no real prospect of ever having a foldable which looks and feels like a normal flagship when closed, instead of a mid 2000's Nokia E90. Condolences.
@MrTagoe-xw8yg Have you ever owned and used a phone for seven years? Most people get new phones every two - three years and Samsung knows that. If people realistically only upgraded every seven years, Samsung would probably stop making smartphones and just focus on selling parts to other companies. It's a sales gimmick to get people to buy. They are realistically expecting people to keep their phones for seven years. BTW, Seven years ago, there weren't any foldables. What do you think will happen seven years from now? Who knows, but there's a very good chance today's phones will be obsolete.
@jimmcnevin9367 lol who mentioned 7 years? I'm just asking how many years of updates the V2 will get? I've been asking the same question about the Vivo foldable and no one has an answer. These phones aren't a few hundred, they are thousands! Would be nice to know how such an expensive and premium is supported going forward
I ordered and was dismayed to see that the S24 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh and the Fold 6 actually has a smaller 4,400 mAh battery. The difference in video playpack is SEVEN hours.... That was a very weird call Samsung. Fine I get it you want to save the better cameras for the Ultra phone to give people a reason to buy that phone specifically but to give the folding tablet phone a smaller battery than the slab phone makes no sense. Especially when all other folding phones from othe brands are packing big batteries. But on the plus side I'm upgrading from the Fold 3 and I really surprised at the massive weight difference in just 3 generations. The test for folding phones in my book are can I balance it unfolded with one finger on the hinge without the phone tipping over. No chance with my Fold 3. Almost with the Fold 5. But the Fold 6 just barely passes by dropping the additional 10 grams. I had to double check that it wasn't actually even lighter than S24 Ultra because the Ultra definitely felt heavier than Fold 6. Turns out the Ultra is actually a few grams lighter but since the Fold 6's weight unfolded is spread out over a larger space it gives the impression of being lighter wheras the Ultra's weight is condensed into a smaller foot print.
As you mentioned, Samsung is so confident in Europe, that they rarely do any good trade ins or good offers. In most European countries: - start price from 2000€ with taxes, more often >2100€. - that price is for the base model, 256 GB, NO pre order offer “double the memory” - you get a Buds 3 Pro for free - in Europe most S24 models get the Exynos version (lower battery life, worse radio and camera logic) So, basically for north from 2000€ you: - DON’T get the SPen - neither 512 GB base - neither the Ultra cameras - neither a bigger battery - neither more than 25W charging - most trade ins give you either 50 or 100€ discount. Nothing more. Why would I buy the Fold 6?! If I wanted to buy one I would definitely go for a “as new” Fold 5 which many already sell for 750-850€ with the pen, case and almost full warranty.
I managed to the 512GB version for £1400 using a range of stackable discount codes Samsung provided. They also gave me 50% off all accessories and then more of the Watches etc. It's not so bad. Oh and a years free insurance. The codes and offers are all hidden around the Samsung Shop app (on iOS and Android).
I have the z fold 4 and after 2yrs as my daily phone it's just like new, has 2 more yrs of major one ui/google updates. So people who think these are flimsy or will break easy can rest assured. They are built tough now and durable IMO. The fold 6 compared to the fold 4 is a significant change especially in the front screen, which is my only gripe with fold 4. Enough that I will upgrade likely.
Still using the fold 3. Over the years, outer screen had serious black strip, costed over 200 USD to repair. Inner screen had a black strip in the middle making the screen unusable, repair cost about 400 USD. Now after falling down once, the phone can't open completely, and I'm not sending for repair after being told they need to change entirely the inner screen. This happened after the first year beginning from the 14th month, so after insurance was expired. They have serious quality issues
Coming from the Fold 3 which I really liked but am ready for the upgrade, never had issues with inner screen just never use the outer one. Hoping that changes with 6.
Samsung Care + is needed for the sensitive hinge. They give you a warrantee for the hinge, but they are very picky. If there is a teeny tiny little mark anywhere, they will deny the claim without Samsung Care +
Finally got it, and I'm writing this comment only to test the typing using the front screen, and it is definitely too narrow. Still , I'm very happy with my first foldable 😊
As a fold 4 owner i wouldn't buy another fold. Not because it's a bad phone. I barely get to use the large screen. Almost all the time I'm using it closed, using one hand and width of the screen make it difficult with swipe typing. When you open, the screen it's impact on your usability is worth every penny. But, my lifestyle barely gives me that opportunity. So, even though there's value, it is dead investment for me. Samsung and Google need to play nice. SO many redundant apps that are annoying. Clock, calendar, browser, dialer, etc... And, for 1800 dollar phone, i should be able to uninstall pre installed apps
The UK trade-in options simply do not compare to the US, it's really not worth it in the UK unfortunately. People tend to buy older models on eBay here!
Not sure I agree. I’m from the uk and have just got my z fold 6 coming in a couple of days. I paid £1400 with trade in for the Galaxy Z fold 6 and Galaxy watch Ultra this also include a free S Pen case and a free extra strap for the watch.👍
The only reason I'm upgrading this year is the display, which now matches the S24 series and the iPhone 15 series in terms of PWM frequency (480hz). The Fold 5 literally causes a pain in my eyes because of its very low PWM rate (120hz).
Finally upgrading from my Fold2 but only because it stopped opening flat a few months ago. Looking forward to the Fold6 but bummed because the 2 was still going strong for me.
Wont be upgrading. Still have the fold 3. The screen was twice replaced as well as twice flex cable replaced. 😂 unless they made the flex cables tougher, I wont buy another fold
I'm still not sure abould fold phones. I'm awaiting your Samsung clam phone review, I'm going in that direction for portability. Love your reviews, best available.
You are right about Europe trade ins, €665 for the fold 5, that's €1300 samsung want with the 5, I can afford it, but on principle will not give it, will buy another brand and sell the fold 5 for even less than samsungs offering
Unfortunately, there shall be no fold phones with silo for spen (just like the note phones) until Sammy can figure how to differentiate the two enough to drive more sales instead of presumably predictably cannibalize each other's sales.
The thing that bothers me the most is that Samsung don't consider the Galaxy Z Fold line of phones as like the Galaxy S line phones. They should have seperated between the Flip & Fold by now and make 3 Foldable phones: Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra. If they have done that, they would let the user choose which foldable phone matches him more and even be more revolutionary in the industry, especially when all the chinese manufacturers make foldable phones of their own.
Fold 4 + Fold 5 + Fold 6 = You're buying the same phone With the software updates, all these phones will feel identical with minor physical changes. I own the Fold 3, 4, and 5 and that's how it is. Time for a major refresh!!!
The fold 6 needed a bigger front screen, bigger battery , the dark corning non reflective glass, s pen outer screen, it was alright but incremental and I might wait until fold 7 or fold 6 slim. The software is excellent but the hardware needs work . I might get the book 4 pro 360 laptop or tab s10 instead. Its true Honor is winning w Huawei, Xiaomi , One Plus and Vivo in hardware. Its strange because the s24 ultra has good hardware. For me I'd rather buy the pro 360 4 laptop since I need a new laptop after my surface book 2 died and even despite wanting a foldable I will wait for fold 6 slim or fold 7 ultra until I get sufficient hardware simultaneously
I think it's telling that Apple hasn't done a folding device yet. Samsung seems to design / sell products that aren't honed or ready for primetime and just have their customers be the beta testers. Even over 6 years / generations! I think it looks great and the concept is great but even now it seems half-baked in terms of durability, needing to warn your customers not remove a preinstalled plastic screen protector lol. I'm not paying $2000 for that.
@@GarseJanacek Yes the Fold 5 is good. Also makes no noise like the Fold 4. My (4) developed a crunchy noise when unfolding. Screen looks fine but is concerning hearing that noise!
Yeah, in Europe fold 5 would be traded for max 700 bucks. That’s less than 30% worth of the phone just in 1 year. Tells you a lot how Samsung views their products.
Such a disgrace that for a phone costing almost $2,000 and after 6 versions there is still no way to store the S Pen. Never saw a reason to upgrade my Fold 4 when the Fold 5 came out and still no reason to upgrade to the Fold 6. How hard is to slightly make the screen a bit wider and add space for a pen slot.
It is very disappointing how little progress Samsung has made year after year. I have been a loyal Samsung customer for about 20 years; if this is the way Samsung makes their product, I might just go buy Apple for the next 2 years. And yes, I am upgrading from Fold 4 to Fold 6, not because I want to but because Fold 4 is too outdated at this point. But honestly, I am not sure there is a really good reason for the upgrade besides my Fold 4, which may not last very long.
Do it! They're giving you $900 for a phone that's over 3 years old. Next year the value probably will drop drastically. It's also crazy because they're offering $900 for the s24 ultra was just came out a few months ago. So take advantage while you can because this should be the last year of support for your current phone.@@heartsineurope
You are to be complimented in your loyalty. I had a fold 2 and traded it in for a galaxy s phone within 1 year. I was afraid of reports the screen would crack in extreme cold and I was worried about the lack of water or dust resistance.

Not sure I agree. I’m from the uk and have just got my z fold 6 coming in a couple of days. I paid £1400 with trade in for the Galaxy Z fold 6 and Galaxy watch Ultra this also include a free S Pen case and a free extra strap for the watch.👍
@@tallman431 That's a good deal, nice one!
The only reason I'm upgrading this year is the display, which now matches the S24 series and the iPhone 15 series in terms of PWM frequency (480hz). The Fold 5 literally causes a pain in my eyes because of its very low PWM rate (120hz).
Always come to you when I need a level headed real world no nonsense opinion 👍❤
Never again. Had the 5 . Inside screen stopped working in 5 months. They would not replace it.
Sounds like you damaged it yourself. Too bad.
@@yftinthyn007 Nope. In perfect condition. Maybe Samsung is a horrible company. Too bad.
@@kornstory yep you definitely broke it yourself. Can't blame them for user negligence and stupidity.
@@kornstory also, who is dumb enough to not buy insurance on a foldable nearly really dumb.
@@yftinthyn007 LOL. Look it up. It’s a known issue with the 4 and 5. You are a lousy troll. Do better lol.
I was out as soon as you mentioned the price. Oh, hell no.
I have a z fold 4 i might update to this thanks lisa ❤
Waiting for your review of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold
8:04 Thanks for telling me you already rocking Pixel Fold 2, LMAO!!!
I like the colour❤
I have the Fold 3, and honestly haven't found a compelling reason to upgrade for three generations running now.
Samsung should make it a bit more wider so that the single screen is not so narrow and make the camera system flush
Haven't held it yet but doesn't pass the eyeball test for me....esp with rumors of the ultra out there 🤔 Still no s-pen on the cover screen too😒🤔
Commercial break at 1:30 regular programming resumes at 2:28
You are right about Europe trade ins, €665 for the fold 5, that's €1300 samsung want with the 5, I can afford it, but on principle will not give it, will buy another brand and sell the fold 5 for even less than samsungs offering
Ty Lisa, as always.
Call me weird but is it only me that thinks this one does not open completely flat?
None of them do, the camera hump stops that. It's a pain for using the spen.
With a case it can lay flat.
Danke für ihre Arbeit.
I still have the fold 2 and the inside display just crapped out.
I smile every video opening, you're infectious smile always gets me. Thank you.
Unfortunately, there shall be no fold phones with silo for spen (just like the note phones) until Sammy can figure how to differentiate the two enough to drive more sales instead of presumably predictably cannibalize each other's sales.
S Pen will no longer be part of the S line by the S26 onwards. Will shift towards Fold's
Good review and I love the haircut!!!
Best tech reviewer on RUclips.
Back to Z are we?
Fold 4 + Fold 5 + Fold 6 = You're buying the same phone
With the software updates, all these phones will feel identical with minor physical changes. I own the Fold 3, 4, and 5 and that's how it is. Time for a major refresh!!!
This is generations behind the xiaomi mix fold 4 and honor magic v3
I used to be Apple but Samsung won me over with all their crazy trade in deals.
Am I just thinking of that the design of fold5 is more elegant?
Great review. Hope to see comparison with other competitors such as Honor Magic V3 etc. Thanks.
They still can't figure out how to integrate the pen? Shameful...
I have a Fold 5 and I've made the decision not to upgrade and will wait till next time. I'm praying my 5 can last another year!!
Fold 6 just released.... There are leaks on the fold 7. Someone at Samsung needs a new mega yacht.
Hi Lisa enjoyed your review but the crease still there will not buying.
Not worth it if you have a thom Browne edition. They want to give you a regular z fold which is half what your limited edition cost.
Love your videos. Straight forward and not biased.
Nice straight to the point review
I love her shirts lol
Thank you Grandma.
It looks like it's having a hard time unfolding perfectly flat!
My Fold 4 has that issue.
Exactly!
My Fold 5 has no issue folding out perfectly flat.
@@GarseJanacek Yes the Fold 5 is good. Also makes no noise like the Fold 4. My (4) developed a crunchy noise when unfolding. Screen looks fine but is concerning hearing that noise!
@@cpufrost I got rid of my Fold 4 due to that noise.
Yeah, in Europe fold 5 would be traded for max 700 bucks. That’s less than 30% worth of the phone just in 1 year. Tells you a lot how Samsung views their products.
1200 trade value on the fold 5 here in us. I just trade mine I had the 5 more than a year it dssnt hurt my pocket
I still got a Z Fold 3, but it sounds like I'm better off getting the 5 or waiting for the 6 to drop in price when there's eventually a 7.
Love the shirts as always.
$12 or $13USD PER MONTH? Jesus. Highway robbery.
But honestly, I am not sure there is a really good reason for the upgrade besides my Fold 4, which may not last very long.
won't need to watch the other z fold 6 reviews now
samsung canada gave me 1000$ for my fold 3. no brainer to upgrade. i also got the preorder voucher for 100$ off as well.
Me too and student discount
Why is this a thing? How can anyone deal with the apparent crease in the screen???
X is 5. I LIKE MATHS.

too expensive. Even with a discount and trade in my S21 its £1400. Crazy.
Love the Hair ❤
Lisa!
I don't understand the point of continuing these.... But I'm also no longer a techy
As a fold 2 owner, I'm still passing. Going to wait for the Global release of the Honor Magic V3
Fold 3 owner here sadly mines has the hardware issue with not fully opening due to dust bristles I may need to upgrade:(
I'm upgrading from the f3. The f6 feels way better and lighter in he hand. Has a more premium feel
Im coming from an S22 ultra. Cant wait.
