Yeah, I first got into Heavy Metal and Hard Rock in about 1986 when I was 12/13 years old. Been rocking out to it ever since. It's the only kind of music I buy. Will not buy anything else, as I feel that you don't really get your money's worth...especially with Pop music. However, if I could get my hands on some classic film soundtracks like LotR or Star Wars, something like that ya know, I'd be on it. Now I do have the soundtracks to the first 10 Star Trek films, in their Deluxe Extended Editions. But yeah, I'm 48 now and I still love my metal. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it, as I know HOW to listen to it, rather than some uninitiated person who just hears noise. Know what I mean?
Harry played guitar to this as his junior school leaving event aged 11. Wish I’d have video’d it as I’d loved to have seen all the other parents faces when he let rip with this riff!! After little Sarah had played the clarinet to Baa Baa Black Sheep!
Nice vid. On the "heavy metal" origins. I heard that it was from some magazine that described the music as rock music "that packs a lot of heavy metal"...An old naval term for having *the heavy guns* .

I think this was a good choice of a song that introduces one that's not familiar with this for the genre of heavy metal. You could've chosen....Just kidding. But, this is a very good and nice idea. Keep this going. I don't care myself what label all the different genres have. As long as it sounds genuine it's ok to me, but it has to be metal (or folk).
Dream evil is Power Metal but in a much more classic Heavy Metal way, its just amazing stuff. Their albuns are full of gems through the top, a very underated band in my estimation.

Oh, and blame the Brits for calling it Association Football and shortening it to "soccer", then bailing on us and going back to calling it football. Hmm, football metal? Sport metal?
You forgot the top level distinction of BABYMETAL and the rest ;) (yes posting this before I have watched the entire vid) Edit after watching - nice description (for want of a better word) of metal and it's conceptualization/meaning to its adherents. I esp. agree with your concept of it being a "bringing-together" thing versus a "negative-disruptive" thing as maybe those without the metal concept think of it. Wow did I waffle along there or what?
I'll be honest, if I were to pick a song to introduce someone to "heavy metal" it would totally be this one Good idea, it makes more sense someone like yourself picking stuff to introduce non metal people to on your own terms than a non metal person on their own picking from suggestions from the masses (also your dedication to the space joke is admirable)
