My two interpretations of this song:
1.) He would rather be used than left behind by the person he loves (toxic relationship). He doesn't want to see the person he loves with anyone else other than himself.
2.) He puts up with being used because he knows that if he doesn't then someone else will suffer through it instead. In other words, he is okay with being hurt because he knows that he is saving somebody else from that pain.

Damn it feels like this somg was meant for me i have never been in a relationship since i have anxiety and depression and im not good at talking to someone but there was this one girl who i met who dealt with similar problems that i helped her with and i fell for her and for once i felt so happy then she got back with her ex and talked to me behind his back cause he never paid attention to her and I continued to help her deal with things and im not gonna go on from there but eventually everyone got hurt in the process but i was hurt the worst and to this day i still cant get over her and i miss her so much even though i came to realize she never liked me the way she seemed to have showed me.
