  • In this Zabbix lesson, we will talk about the required architecture of Zabbix and what should beginners keep in mind. Zabbix is an open-source monitoring platform, that can be deployed both, on physical machines and virtual machines. Performance on your installation is also heavily based on your architecture plan and initial tuning applied to your installation. Let's talk about the most common installation architectures and what you need to keep in mind just to make sure that you are getting the most out of the performance.

    Hi Dmitry. I'm doing a separated deployment (server/frontend/database) but regarding database environment, I can't find best practices for hd partitioning on OS deployment for a MySQL installation, file system (ext4, xfs), size, to have a good performance and to suit well a growing Zabbix installation (500 to 1000 hosts). Have you a tip in this case? Great videos and channel by the way!

    Good video as always. I was just a bit disappointed to hear you don't recommend using cloud managed DB. Can you build a bit on that? You mention performance and cost - if I take cost aside - why you think performance would be an issue? I'd like to use Azure managed Postgres with TimescaleDB. Thanks

      Performance suffers in cloud based databases. better use standalone vm install

    Does Zabbix have possibility to do things like Rundeck? which is: defining some commands and assigned them to some web interface buttons

      Sounds like frontend scripts. You can create a script and define any command on it. Specify where you want to run it ( on host, proxy or server ) and then execute with one click from frontend.

    Hey Dmitry, at what point do you recommend we separate the database? 20 monitored hosts? 100?

    • @DmitryLambert
      @DmitryLambert  3 года назад

      With 100 hosts it doesn't really matter. It would work even on raspberry, but if you plan to grow then better start with a database on sep. machine

    Very insightful video, thanks! But "Kerner" params? I'm sure you mean Kernel parameters ;-)
