- The database is the heart of your Zabbix monitoring ecosystem which makes it very important. Let's try to find out what is the best database choice for Zabbix in a current release. Based on your engine choice you will have to maintain and use it for a long time which will include both, benefits and all potential problems. You should consider many factors to make the right choice and not regret it later.

Thx for the video! great insight, love the pace and tone of voice (and full of common sense too!)
I think you should do a special episode about how to use Zabbix for fun, like a full monitoring solution for your house or something :D Turns the kettle on first thing in the morning and sends you an e-mail!
That would be fun :)
Good video with some great points. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Hi Dmitry, is there a way to change update interval of many items prototypes created by multiples separates discovery rules using mass update only one time ? (doing that manually one by one is very hard and time consuming .
i am thinking instead upgrading to 5.0 , start from empty server (my current being upgraded since 1.8), I have about 2.5 kvps. timesacaledb sounds great, but I always thought about it as new/experimental functionality of postgress. is it production ready? do we have someone running zabbix with timescaledb at my load or higher for some time ? Great channel, wish I found it earlier :)
TimescaleDB is a separate product that is built on top of postgres as a plugin. It was experimental in 4.2 with only native partitioning. Since 4.4 it also has compression. From then, there was only one bug related to it, and it was quickly fixed. Other than that, yes, there are many installations on timescaledb with 10k+ nvps :)
3 Zabbix servers: 22.8 values per second, 59.65 values per second, 10.23 values per second
Great!
How to find the most space/IO consuming hosts/templates/items?
with database queries by itemid and hostid
330GB, 2040nvps, mysql enterprise
Awesome!
my server nvps 10k+, use mysql
how long have you been running in this configuration
?
how long do you store RAW data?
is partitioning database enabled?
Good results!
@@1445474 My Server is running 1-2 years,
