  • Housekeeper 100% busy or database size growing with every hour. These may be the main problems that make you wonder what a housekeeper actually is, what it does, and are there any ways to improve it. Unfortunately, without fully understanding how it works, it is very easy to make even more harm while trying to fix the problem.

    Also, would be great if you put up a video about archiving/backing up databases, history etc.

    What’s the difference between history and trends ?

    • @DmitryLambert
      @DmitryLambert  2 года назад +1

      History Is raw data. Trends Is aggregated min max avg for 1 hour, that’s why it is much more efficient for disk space while still giving insights

    What if the housekeeper's proccess is 100% just for 4-5 minutes/hour, then goes to 0 % ?

    • @DmitryLambert
      @DmitryLambert  2 года назад +2

    I have a simple 2 CPU, 4 GB RAM and 70 GB total disk space, virtual private server.
    I cannot afford for database to grow above 10 or 12GB disk space.
    I'm using PostgreSQL.
    What housekeeping periods should I set, to keep my database size below 10 or 12GB ?

    • @DmitryLambert
      @DmitryLambert  8 месяцев назад

      It's impossible to measure it like that, not knowing your nvps and type of monitored data

    Hi, Housekeeper when running is always on 100% for a few hours, causing performance issues. We migrated the database from 5.0 to 6.0 (from MySQL 5.7 to MySQL 8.0) I noticed in the logs folowing entry foe each record:
    1662593:20220819:132300.916 query without transaction detected
    1662593:20220819:132300.916 query [txnlev:0] [delete from history_uint where itemid=243742 and clock
