Replit is not at all suitable for hosting a SaaS. If you deploy your AI App on Replit, you will have big problems as soon as you have a lot of users. To create Apps, AI coding agents are very fast, Replit, Aider, Claude dev, Continue dev, Cursor, Pythagora, etc... But, as soon as you start wanting to integrate payment systems into your SaaS, that's where all the issues come in. And you will spend days or even weeks before your SaaS is ready to be deployed on Vercel.
Yeah, I hear you, Replit is more geared towards development and prototyping. Yes, integrating payment systems is potentially non-trivial too but this is a great platform to beta test an idea. You can then move somewhere geared towards hosting like Vercel, AWS or Linode as needed. It’s never been easier to get started though and that’s exciting!
That's amazing, but what about the IP rights of the codes or algorithms procest by Replit? Who owns all of that? Is is possible to make a brief video about the basics of IP rights ownership please? Because it's obvious to be very clear about your IP rights before we start building any apps. As in the future if one of my apps ideas will have success and solve some problems to wake up with an email from Replit to say they own everything? You can understand my concern here, right!!! Thanks in advance. 🙂🤩😅
Interesting! Did a quick search on this. Seems public Repls are able to be copied and remixed by all and also train the AI. Private Repels are yours to play with and do not train the AI but important to fully read the ToS especially before building the next billion dollar app!

Copy / Paste their Terms of Service into your chosen LLM (ChatGPT, Claude, etc...) You Will be SHOCKED what will be Revealed! You better know an IP Lawyer's phone #.

Great question! Hosting your app on Replit does come with different pricing tiers depending on what type of hosting you select. Static, for instance, will be cheap/free. Then there's Scaleable which will increase in cost with more users. Also, dedicated VMs which start from $6.40/month. Linode is still cheaper for hosting IMO mrc.fm/linode

Sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with Replit. That wasn’t my experience. I was stunned. I did try Google login with Replit Agent and it fell over before but I guess it’s all in the promoting and Cursor is great for granular control!

I just got an email from them over the weekend with good news "Our #1 error has been creating a login and signup flow for your application. This week, we shipped a long tail of fixes that are executing successfully in 70% of our internal benchmarks on email and password auth. Please test it and provide feedback."

Replit is $25 a month and $15 a month if you're paying yearly. Very important to give accurate info.

Replit sounds great but in practice is full of bugs and very slow. I am having better coding experience with Cursor ai :)
