Thanks for sharing this Felixs, I love allll your pieces. but the second one is incredible. I understand what you mean by not being 100% satisfied. To each their own, you are the creator, so you have that ability to have that choice. I have painted over a couple pieces, and I have a few set aside that I may end up going over. I notice you do not Gesso, you just paint over it... seems to work for ya, maybe I will try that. ;) Have an awesome day!
Hi Mary! Thank you. Yes, you can either gesso or just paint over...the paints I use are thick so I don't feel like I need gesso but it's totally personal preference. You should try it and see what you like best! Have a great day :)
You were born to create. You have so much in you ... that painting over one that does not inspire really is no big deal! My opinion is the SECOND blows the first one away... but these are yours to do what you wish and like I said... You have been gifted and have SO MUCH more inside you... KEEP ON PAINTING... Love it!! I have so many canvases I painted over.
I love how you are readily able to let go of what you don't feel is right. People can argue with what we think, but only we can take ownership of our feelings.
Doesn't matter which one is best. We paint to express our thoughts and feeling and if it doesn't speak to you repaint it. You have to enjoy your work or it's not worth keeping no matter how others may feel.
i also repaint some of my works!! either for money reasons or just because i grow sick of looking at the same image over and over and feel like it’s time to change it. sometimes it hurts, sacrificing an old painting in order to create a new one, but it’s a nice experience!
I love them both equally, hopefully you were able to get prints made of the first piece and it’s not a total loss. It was really beautiful😘 I’ve painted over a few of my pieces and reworked them, sometimes it works and sometimes not.. no matter what you paint, your work is ALWAYS stunning!!
Both beautiful. I think the change was also art in its own way. The calm, dark, and powerful being transformed into something bright, energetic, and hopeful.
I have definitely painted over paintings that I felt just didn't have the impact I was going for. I sometimes let the paint from the first painting show through and have loved the effect that it made on my new piece. Sometimes I paint a completely different work over the top of another. I have always been happier with the painting I finished with.
They are both beautiful! Your visions are incredible. I have just started watching your videos and am Learning so much. I started painting two years ago. Most of the time I dislike my paintings but other people have liked them and even purchased my paintings. There are times i have to revisit my work with good results. I have been unmotivated this past year. But now as I watch your videos, I am excited to start again. Thank you so much.
I love that you did this. It reminds me of life in general if you really meditate on your actions, change should not be scary. It's a beautiful thing!! And I love the second piece you made! The messages you wrote on both give a message as well. Ppl just have to look deeper!
I have reworked pieces more often than I have been perfectly satisfied with the first original piece. Regardless of compliments, if I am not happy with a piece I have to fix and/or change it until I am -- that's just who I am as an artist 😊
I am actually really glad that I came across this. I have a whole group of paintings I didn’t finish and have spent, literally years, staring at them hoping to get inspired to finish them. This gave me permission to let them go and make something I will love because several of them are on very large canvases. I just bought your Simplified Painting Academy course and am so excited about it!
Hi Stephanie! I’m happy you found this helpful and encouraging to you! Thank you for your feedback and welcome to my academy! I hope you’ll enjoy it and take a lot out of it! 😃
Both are amazing but the second one is outstanding!! And you do not owe us or anyone any explanation for painting over your painting. I just appreciate your talent and feel very fortunate to be a subscriber to your channel.
Painted over couple smaller canvases my Granddaughters did in middle school and didn’t like them anymore! Took awhile to see what would cover them, but once I got that figured out it went really well! And the girls were very proud of their Grandma starting this new hobby at 70😉🥰!! Loving it by the way!!👍
I have enjoyed your online step by steps. I have decided to give painting a go (always wanted to but never found (or took) the time). Quarantine changed that. Now I have painted several. My son was so impressed with one of my first pieces following your guidance that he took it for his wall. Maybe I had it in me all along and you helped bring it out. BTW: Love the second piece that you repainted. Makes me feel warm and happy inside..
Have gone thru the same thing except one more time on top. I completed each one. On the third time I was happy with the results. I preferred the second one as far as your endeavors. Love your work. Have been a teacher for 22yrs in acrylics and oils. I’m now 93 and liked your style so I’ve decided to do acrylics again. Keep it up.
Both pieces are stunning but the second one grabs my attention more. I repaint quite often, and for the same reasons as you expressed. I am not a professional painter like yourself so most of my paintings I give to friends and family if they like them. I am retired and only been painting for a short time. Your sky technique is the reason I fell in love with your art! Thank you!
I have repainted over many of my painting, that didn't turn out to be as good as I thought it would be. Or I would paint another separate piece, and now have two or three of the same scene with different variations of the content. Thank you so much for your time and effort in demonstrating your techniques and insights on the world of painting. Again thank you and God bless!
hii Felix. Am so obsessed by this painting i keep coming back to it. i just love the yellow brightness n the sky n the waves n every single detail. can u please share a slow tutorial of this painting if u still have it. thnks 🙏
Wow, amazing loved both of them but my favorite was the first one only because of the waterfall. I have taken pages I have colored and put them in an Art journal. Love what you do God Bless you
I enjoy watching your art work. I just repainted something because it was not as I imagin of. I feel better when I finished my art work. Having low bugget means a lot to the artist. I understand this feelimg well. Good job.
I know it's not painting, but I have reworked songs as a songwriter. I have completely changed lyrics because I did not like where the song was going. In fact, I almost nixed a song from my first album just because I did not like the sound and lyrics altogether. The point is, as artists, we understand that art is an ever evolving process and if something doesn't speak to you as it should it is okay to simply start over. I commend you for painting over something that you were never going to enjoy. It's what I would have done regardless of what others think or feel. Cheers!
Beautiful painting like the first one, the second painting pulled me in felt like I took a journey. Have several paintings that I have done in the past that I will repaint 😊👍🎨 thanks for sharing and inspiring.
You're so talented. So awesome 💜 there was so much I felt I was missing in one of my paintings and looking at this made me realize what it was 🥰 thank you.
I loved them both and am inspired and wowed by your work. I have many good paintings started but I can't seem to finish any. Thankyou for your notes of wisdom on both your pieces that you painted over. I have one painting now that is dear to me but I've learned so much since I set it aside. I hope to have the courage to jump back in and finish it soon. I was really happy and proud of it before the client asked for sunrays. I hated the sunrays! so there it sits waiting. I don't want to change the overall picture, I'm just hesitant to get back in there. Thanyou for your wonderful videos!
I totally get that, have many that I have overpainted as well. Liked both paintings but the 2nd one much more. You are the artist and if it doesn’t speak to you, you just move on. If I get to that point, trying to keep going will just frustrate me, so I move on. Thanks for sharing this😊
Both are gorgeous. I have repainted one canvas 4 times and kept it for about 3 years, eventually chucked it out the door. Someone picked it up and took it home. lol They love it,
I love the new painting. It’s warm and has more life than the first painting (though that one too was amazing). Most of your paintings have a lot of elements and color but the first one was sort of a zoom in of a water fall and presumably at night so all the colors are cool and similar. It is understandable how that could be boring or in exciting for you.
You are such an awesome artist. The detail in all your work is out of this world. I have tried a few of your paintings and it never fails I can’t paint the fine lines. I have tried so many different paint brushes and I’ve come to the conclusion I don’t have a steady hand or it’s the wrong detailed brush. Anyway I loved the first one because it looked like it was deep in a forest however I also love the second one because of the colors and the ocean/cliffs. But if I had to choose one it would be the second one. You have a great gift. Wish I could have a paint day with you so you could show me your technique. Diana
I’m not a painter but I enjoy watching you paint. And I understand your decision to discard the first painting. I make things with wood. If I make something and am not satisfied with it - I make it again, until I am. Thanks for sharing your work. I find watching you paint good for my soul.
First I'll say that I too liked both. I agree the 2nd one is a "warmer" feel because of the colors. I have not yet repainted and my reason is that I am quite new to painting (still under 1 year) the reason for that is because my 1st paintings were so basic and frankly bad :) that I enjoy seeing how far I've grown in a very short time. Most of that is due to watching your videos and others as well. It's amazing how quickly you can learn and shockingly (to me) become fairly good! Thank you so much for the time you invest with us!! It's amazing and I love it.
Yes I have repainted a painting. I hang it, I sit look at it find things I’m not happy with, change it, at the end I’m not happy with it, and I end up changing it all together. I do think how others perceive it. The struggle is real!! I like both of your paintings. Thank you for sharing.
I liked both, but the second is my favourite. I decided the painting I did last week was uninspiring so set about trying to improve it. Very little of the original now remains and while I still think it could be better I’m much happier with the second one. But the main thing is Because I was over painting I felt less fear about messing up which made me braver and more willing to try different techniques etc and through this I learnt a lot. It’s really encouraging to know you overpaint Felix! Thank you for this video, and all the hard work you put in for us.
Thank you for making this video because I was really perplexed after watching you re-paint! I actually do like the second more than the first, but I’ve never ever re-painted over mine.
I understand what you mean. Sometimes the first ideas are not the best. I have repainted a few of mine just because the first one just wasn't what I was looking for. Thanks so much for your videos they have keep me painting though a hard time in my life.
Kudos for taking the leap ...only you know what speaks to you. My largest re-do was an n 8X12ft wall mural that I had spend a day painting. I returned the next day and stood in disbelief. Even though the owner approved, I hated it, sore-painted the entire wall . Just got to be true to your vision!
I used to feel guilty for not finishing paintings when I wasn’t feeling it. I definitely have repainted paintings. But after watching this I feel much better about my choices. By the way, I just discovered you today and I’m very impressed! I subscribed and can’t wait to watch your tutorials. I especially loved the encouraging verse you painted on it! I liked the second painting better. It was more dynamic and bright. The first one was dark. Keep it up! God bless you as well!
You have a gift. The gift of being able to slap some paint on a canvas & touch someone's emotions. All your works are works of art & should never be covered by another painting. The first painting was actually spoke more to me than the second one. To me, the second painting is more of a dream unfolding whereas the first painting was more actual reality. In other words, the first painting was here & now. The second painting was more of a fantasy painting. I know that wasn't your intentions but that is how I see the two painting & can express the difference in the two. I hope in the future you try to find other means for a canvas instead of a painting you have already started. You never know which one of your paintings will be admired the most in the future scheme of life.
Love the artwork and scripture. Both paintings are great, like the second more then the first. I wouldn't have painted over the first only because If I dont have your talent and if I made the first painting as nice as yours I couldn't bring myself to cover it. Have no issue with you doing it. What right does the clay have to question the potter.
The first one was good but the 2nd was truly awesome. Wow, when in happy with a painting I let sit hoping I'll find what I missed. Some times I regesso but I saw you didn't. COOL. I love your work will keep following 👍👍👍👏👏👏❤❤😁
Oh yes I liked them both but unless you could find someone so attached to your first that they wanted to keep it just better to save the Canvas and do another on it that you might love!! My opinion, and I’ve only just begun to work with this art form!🙂👍 You are so very talented!!
I love the second painting and have watched it several times in the last couple of years and still coming back for more ! Reminds me of Seven Sister's Cliff in England. Was wondering if you have a STEP by STEP tutorial video of this painting ? Thanks Feliks xx
In my eyes: The first painting was good and the second is stunning! I repaint sometimes my paintings if i really don’t like them! Sometimes i put them away for months but keep them to see if i Will find out what i didn’t like!
Thanks for the insight Felix, it is always good to hear your reasonings, I can see what people mean, both pictures are outstanding, I think people just think they would love to have the first on their wall, so if you feel you don't like it anymore, rather than go over it, give it away or sell it and start your new inspiration on a blank canvas, either way, as long as we get to see your work and the vids of your techniques I know everyone is really happy, we are maybe just a little jealous that you are so good you can get to go over pictures we would cherish if we did them, hahaha Keep up the outstanding work and content, cheers,
Hi Feliks😃 Love your painting tutorials and you are a very gifted artist👍 This particular piece is beautiful...I must admit the previous one that got painted over was stunning as well...though I love both I would have to say the previous one was my favorite😃 I hope you will consider painting it again👍 Having said that...an artist does need to follow his/her heart...paint what speaks to you💖👍😃 Many blessings to you both🙏 Cheers😃
Hi Felix I think both paintings were awesome.. I totally enjoy watching you paint and watching how everything comes together. You don’t use stencils or tracing paper you just pretty much free hand everything.! I have gessoed over paintings in the past if I am not happy with the way it is looking although sometimes I can see the shapes of the painting underneath if I was a bit heavy with painting in one area. Not sure how to overcome this.Thank you for everything that you do.
I like them both. If I have to be honest I know that for you the first one wasn’t finished, but was looking absolutely phenomenal. I would expect that you will sell it instead maybe next time and reinvest in more materials and new canvases. Maybe it will inspire someone else. Still it’s your creation and if you want to destroy it, it’s absolutely your right to do it, but was a gorgeous piece and it could brighten someone else’s day. 🤗💞 Much Love, Felix. God bless you and your work.
I honestly liked both... but I fully understand why you did as you did. I have a painting I did last fall and it was a success in that I managed to do what I was looking too. I was trying to make a painting look like it was done by one of the old masters. Being happy with the back ground I've kept it but sadly I lost interest in the foreground before it was even finished. I'll be repainting it as the canvas is actually a 3 ft square home made framed panel. I just need to decide what to paint next..lol. Thanks for the Vid you encouraged me and I loved the scripture usage in the context of letting go and going with the new. He's very inspirational you may just get that from Him! Blessings bro.
Exactly, don't pay any mind to the critical posters. I can't imagine ever leaving such negative comments in regards to what someone else has worked so hard on. YOU are the artist. Keeping a piece that does not inspire you will not accurately represent who you are as an artist. Preferring one image over another is one of the things that distinguish one artist from another. Paint with joy! One of the thing that draws me into your paintings is your use of color. It is often so positive and vibrant and makes me feel so happy! God bless you on your journey!
I think you made the perfect choice. I liked the 2nd one a lot better. It makes me feel good to know it's ok not to like a painting you have worked on and willing to move on. I struggle with that. Thanks Feliks.
Thanks John! Yes, it's a hard choice for me too especially thinking about the time that went into it but in the end I am happy with the choice and something great came out of it! Take care
What’s important is whether you are satisfied with the piece. Even the grand masters painted over pieces that we would drop jaw in shock as well. Both paintings are and were fabulous.
Im in the process of repainting one now...my first time but it turned out ugly and im just covering with white and also i couldnt afford to go and get another canvas...i didnt even know i could paint over it but just started covering in white last nite....saw this video today...last week i threw out a half finished canvas that was 16/18 “ ..tossed in the trash as i didnt know i could repaint one...ive only made four paintings in my life and that been in the last month...just by watching a lady on utube. Just found your channel today and you go slower and easier for me to understand( your a great teacher! Im 58 years old by the way !
Thanks for watching! Which one did you like better? Have you ever repainted your paintings?
-Feliks

I love both paintings but appreciate that you have to love it in the end. The tones on the final piece are amazing.
I have done a redo a few times. It makes me feel good to change things up and then I seem to love the redo piece so much better.
5:00 “...or maybe even change it.” Did you see his eyes when he said that? This man is savage. Beautiful work Felix. Both paintings were amazing.
I love how you are readily able to let go of what you don't feel is right. People can argue with what we think, but only we can take ownership of our feelings.

I love that you did this. It reminds me of life in general if you really meditate on your actions, change should not be scary. It's a beautiful thing!! And I love the second piece you made! The messages you wrote on both give a message as well. Ppl just have to look deeper!
Thank you for sharing this Feliks! It helps me to not be afraid to change a painting if I’m not feeling connected to it.
I have reworked pieces more often than I have been perfectly satisfied with the first original piece. Regardless of compliments, if I am not happy with a piece I have to fix and/or change it until I am -- that's just who I am as an artist 😊
Totally feel the same way!

You have inspired me there’s a painting that I did that I don’t like and after watching what you’ve done I’m going to redo it completely thanks
I like the 2nd painting better, and it is good to see you not letting negativity bring you down. You are a talented and generous person
I definitely repaint my canvas if I am not happy with the first effort. I liked both, but I liked the warmth of the sunset better.

Love the second one. Very brave of you to paint over the first.
I love them both and yes I have also repainted pictures for the same reason until true visual comes out💖 I just painted some pictures too🌹
Hi! I love the second one better, it’s gorgeous and vibrant.

WOW.. Your very talented I love both your paintings but the second one is my favorite because of the realism and the depth !!!
I like the second one so much better! Beautiful!!!

Whitney...if ever in doubt, go for the do over, very enlightening.....
Hi Feliks! I have been painting for 3 years so I have many paintings that were from when I was starting and I do repaint them.
God bless you ..Greeting from Romania and Estonia land we love your painting
I understand what you mean. Sometimes the first ideas are not the best. I have repainted a few of mine just because the first one just wasn't what I was looking for. Thanks so much for your videos they have keep me painting though a hard time in my life.
Hi Britten, I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying the videos and that they can help you! Thank you for being here :)
Thanks for sharing!!
Liked both paintings, but loved the second one
2nd one is a Masterpiece Felix.
Go for it. If you're not inspired by it, it will show in the final picture. Keep up the good work.
I like the second one better! They were both enjoyable.
I could watch you draw for ages
Loved them both and yes I have repainted a few and mostly because I wasnt happy with it.
Definitely like the second one better. I've repainted some canvasses also!
My opinion, and I’ve only just begun to work with this art form!🙂👍
You are so very talented!!
You are an inspiration to me.. Thank you for doing what you are doing💜💋👽
Hi Feliks! Are you going to possibly make a tutorial out of the second painting...? It is gorgeous, as all your work! Thanks for your consideration😍👍
Thanks for the insight Felix, it is always good to hear your reasonings, I can see what people mean, both pictures are outstanding,
I think people just think they would love to have the first on their wall, so if you feel you don't like it anymore,
rather than go over it, give it away or sell it and start your new inspiration on a blank canvas,
either way, as long as we get to see your work and the vids of your techniques I know everyone is really happy,
we are maybe just a little jealous that you are so good you can get to go over pictures we would cherish if we did them, hahaha
Keep up the outstanding work and content, cheers,
Hi Feliks😃
Love your painting tutorials and you are a very gifted artist👍
This particular piece is beautiful...I must admit the previous one that got painted over was stunning as well...though I love both I would have to say the previous one was my favorite😃
I hope you will consider painting it again👍
Having said that...an artist does need to follow his/her heart...paint what speaks to you💖👍😃
Many blessings to you both🙏
Cheers😃
Amaziiiing IN LOVE with the second oneeee ❤❤❤
Hi Felix I think both paintings were awesome.. I totally enjoy watching you paint and watching how everything comes together. You don’t use stencils or tracing paper you just pretty much free hand everything.! I have gessoed over paintings in the past if I am not happy with the way it is looking although sometimes I can see the shapes of the painting underneath if I was a bit heavy with painting in one area. Not sure how to overcome this.Thank you for everything that you do.
Awesome!🥰✏☀️
Love both the paintings!!!
😘
Thank you for everything 💖 I've improved because of you ❤❤your art is soooo awesome i love to watch ur videos 👍👍👍👍
Hey Laura! So glad to hear that the videos have been helpful to you :) thank you for your great support!
@@ColorByFeliks don't care about the negatively comments just keep going 💖💖💖
Exactly, don't pay any mind to the critical posters. I can't imagine ever leaving such negative comments in regards to what someone else has worked so hard on. YOU are the artist. Keeping a piece that does not inspire you will not accurately represent who you are as an artist. Preferring one image over another is one of the things that distinguish one artist from another. Paint with joy! One of the thing that draws me into your paintings is your use of color. It is often so positive and vibrant and makes me feel so happy! God bless you on your journey!
Thank you Christy! So kind of you, and glad my paintings can put a smile on your face! God bless :)
Take care
I did something like this twice....so i kinda get it why you do that....😄
I love your work . Love watching this channel
OMG! THE CAVE WATERFALL WAS AWESOME!!!!
Glad you like it :)
Love this! You are amazing. So talented!
You’re a very talented artist. 👨🎨🧡I love watching your tutorials; I think I like this repainted piece much better than the original; Great idea!!👍
I loved both of your painting wish to paint the with you
What’s important is whether you are satisfied with the piece.
Loved both the paintings! 💜
I like the 2nd one best. Yes, I have painted over paintings I'm not happy with.
