- Here is a video I took comparing the Panasonic Lumix Vario 7- 14 mm and the Leica 8- 18 mm. I rented the lenses from www.lensrentals.com for 7 days at $150 with tax and shipping. The lenses were ordered on Wednesday evening and arrived at 10 am on Friday. The were not supposed to arrive until Monday so I got an extra weekend to try them out for free! Overall it was a good experience with LensRentals.com. The Leica 8- 18 lens is longer and heavier: Overall length approx.. 88mm, approx. weight 11.11 oz = 315g. The Lumix 7- 14 lens is approx.. 83.1mm, approx. weight 10.5 oz = 294g.

What do you use for Vlogging? Do you like it?
Use GoPro and Galaxy cell phone. I'm poor
ouzo - SS717 uses a GoPro 4! I have the 5, which one do you have? And which Galaxy?
Have the GoPro Hero+LCD and GoPro Hero session plus Galaxy s6 active
The GoPro Hero Session is what we used on 90% of videos from Detroit Auto Show
ouzo - They turned out good. The nice thing with GoPro is that everything is in focus.
Rusty Zipper - Beware of using the gopro hero 5 or 6.. SS717 uses the 4 for a reason( actually he uses the 5 or 6 now sometimes and you can tell in the audio when he rotates the camera) The mics pic up feedback to easily and make crackling noises when you shoot and rotate the camera when vlogging. The 5 and 6 also pick up way too much motor noise from gimbals as well. It sucks, I really wanted the 5 or 6. tried them both... I chose to suffer a little video quality (very minimal) for much improved audio. Also keep in mind they changed the port where my tiny saramonic wind mic plugs into my 4. I haven't found a way to use a tiny wind mic with the 5 or 6..... There just doesn't seem to be any options so far that I can find.
I love my 7-14mm on my G85. Crackin' little lens.

I use a couple of cameras. Nothing as fancy as you got. Mostly I use my go pro hero 4 with saramonic wind mic, and a EVO SS 3axis Gimbal. Pretty inexpensive but very versatile. I also you a small point and shoot Sony DSC HX-80 with a flip up screen. I could afford to step up my camera game but don't think I'm ready yet. Just gonna stick with what works till the channel gets a little bigger.

I can use it for mountain biking videos as well. If you don't want a wearable go for the Evo GP PRO. EVO makes gimbals for DSLR's as well. Buttery smoth cinematic shots.
You keep saying 8x12....you mean 8-18 right?
Yes 8-12, but don’t even watch the stupid video, it was crap and I’m obviously not an expert. The 8-12 lens is very good but heavy. Check out “The Hybrid Shooter” for some expert reviews.

Jesse - they were delivered to FedEx in 36 hours from when I ordered. These were from LensRentals.com but also BorrowLens.com. You can rent the cameras themselves as well. Albeit not cheap, about 10% of the actual purchase price for a 7 day rental.
rusty zippa, in your expert opinion what would be the best lens to capture the carefree nature of furry kittens frolicking in the snow?
Lefty- funny you ask because I just picked up the new RED - WEAPON BRAIN WITH MONSTRO 8K VV SENSOR ($80k) to take videos of my dogs. It’s kind of overkill but I really like to capture their spirt in 8K.
I know an old hermit who drives a yellow car just like your z06 who lives right near that light house and he has a variety of lenses for his vlogging camera. Hit me up and I'll give ya his number and maybe set up a race.
