Same here. Two plants and I have two cantaloupes. The mice kept eating them when they were the size of a grape. They take up way too much space for the yield.
This is my first successful year planting cantaloupe… usually the deer get them before they develop … this year I planted them inside my main garden which is fenced in … I have cantaloupe and sugar babies galore !! I am sharing the wealth !
Found your channel while googleing when to harvest my cantaloupe. I too LIVE TO GROW MELONS!!! I (of course) get better each year. But this video is a game changer. It was so simple and easy and you explained it well. You look as if you have a large garden. Mine is 12,00 sq.ft. with mucho raised beds. In the middle of Queens New York. Thank you. Continue to be blessed.

That's a great looking melon. I planted a few seeds in a 10 gallon fabric from a store bought melon I had last year. They're hanging in cradles, but nowhere near the size of yours. My sugar baby watermelons were planted May 7 and the few melons aren't getting larger than softballs. This is my first time trying to grow either. 9A
Might need a bigger container. My basket watermelon came out about a 3 times the size of a soft ball but the one I had in a 30g storage bin and those got to about soccer ball and basket ball size.
Should not be an effort to take vine off, right where the vine is you should be able to push in easily with fingers..and yes they do ripen off the vines if shipped green..
First year cantalope, watermelon, and honeydew. We r in wyoming, zone 4B ish. Cant wait to eat them, if the darn rockchuck, ants, and/or wasps dont get them first.
Well today I went out to have a look at mine and I assume squirrels ate of three vines I was lucky to still have the one fruit left, which only got as big as a large softball, ate it anyway tasted better than most the frankienfruit you buy from Wal-Mart nevertheless oct.2 here by the way so guess I'll just clean/dry the seeds an store them for next season
I planted two cantaloupe plants. I have exactly TWO melons, one per plant so I cannot afford to make a harvesting mistake! Thanks for the video!
Hahaha.
Don't let the squirrels rob you I've got 1 and it is covered with a cage last year I had two and the squirrels robbed me.
I planted 2 Ambrosias and had 4 melons. Something ate one. Tried putting a cage around the remaining 3.
Hahaha same over here 😅😅

Thank you! Great video! I compost in my yard and had some cantaloupes volunteer. I’m no farmer so this really helped.

Just what I needed to know. Thank you. Two plants and 12 fruits 😊
I'm in NC 6b and have 4 or 5 volunteer melons which surprised us. They aren't ready yet, but now I know exactly what to look for. Thanks!
My pleasure Jay!

i picked one that looked white outside brought it in and wiithin 2hrs it turned green,,,,i ll start checking stem for next one
Happy growing Kevin!
🙏🏻
Like thanks
no stem in story SO what do I look foe to get a good sweet one ??? 🤔
If I leave purchased cantaloupes on the counter, they continue to ripen.
Cantilope exactly the same enzyme SOD found in liver. A superfood
This tells me almost no melons in the supermarkets were picked when ready😢
yay! no bra 😊
