    I get to ride the new T120!
    This is a joint review with Badger Leader Bigglesworth. We hope that you enjoy... I thought I'd try to get some more camera angles...
    Many thanks to Bigglesworth but especially to HertsTriumph for letting me ride this bike. It was great fun.
    Tally Bally Ho!!!

    This is the video that convinced me to buy a T120 after a lifetime of owning Japanese sports tourers ... first time I've bought a bike without a test ride, something I said I'd never do. Admittedly I did take a Street Twin for a quick spin.
    Nearly a year later and I still love this bike, am enjoying it more than all my previous bikes put together, thanks Captain !

    Most fun and best reviewer of motorcycles be the captain. I've had my T120 for 5 weeks. I brought it in for its first service and they flashed the ECU and it made a big difference in performance. Then a had this done, Decat, sleeper pro exhaust power commander and a Dyno tune and it rips!! I own a street triple and a 700, GS. The Bonneville is now my favorite bike!

    I usually prefer reviews that are less than 5 minutes long just to get an idea of what the bike is like. But your reviews are absolutely brilliant! Full of content and knowledge and you're a fellow Brit! You've got a great channel mate and keep doing these reviews!...I think I prefer the Street Twin over the T120 as well

    Thanks for the review. A Brit living in Thailand here! I do most of my riding in the suburbs of Bangkok. I am an older guy who is close to buying a Triumph for the first time and am a little torn between the street twin and the t120 so was very much looking forward to this review as it was obvious from your comments after the street twin review that the t120 was expected to be a much better machine. The waiting list for both bikes in Thailand is about 2 months so I am trying hard to make a final decision. You have definitely swayed me towards the t120 now though. Keep up the good work!

    Had a test-ride today. It is everything you say - and more! Signed up and taking delivery of one soon. They are pretty much sold out here.
    It is almost too nice to ride compared to my T140 but the beautiful manners and endless torque sold me. Exciting and refined.
    A truly wonderful machine and Triumph deserves major credit for designing a modern machine into a such a classic package.

    Nice review and good video. You should mention that if you want to adjust the chain tension, or replace the back tire, you have to remove both mufflers. Every single time. An extra step that could be avoided by getting a different bike, even a Triumph. That plus tubeless tires may push me to get the Street Twin, but I might get this bike anyway, it's just so beautiful.

    OK back again - after watching yet another excellent, informative and hilarious video:
    I thought your reaction to the roll-ons was interesting by comparison to the Thruccy R roll-ons you did,you seemed pleased but not really impressed;
    Heated grip and screen display, just excellent.
    Triumph should pay you for your videos, they have pretty-much convinced me that in motorcycling you should let your heart rule your head - I was going to go for a Tiger but now it'll be a new Bonny, possibly a Thruccy R.
    Cheers mate.

    Had a sit down on all three. The thruxty has at last raised the bars, to near but not quite comfort level, but being blown back by the wind might help, the street twin felt cheap, the 120 fitted me like a glove, and felt....just right. Papa bear was happy with this porridge.

      @CaptainRambunctious  8 лет назад

      Ha ha! I see what you mean... Yes, the T120 fits just right. I think that with all the shiny plastic on the Street Twin, and the fact that it is so light, it gives the air of being cheap... But it's fun performance and character take that away. Lots of charm.

      Hi again
      Have had my T120 for about a month now. Am very happy with it. Have had many positive comments, mostly from older guys that had a Bonnie back in the day. I have just returned from a 1200k road trip, and the bike was just fine. I stop fairly often for a stretch and walk.
      Had a real close call with a kangaroo while traveling at 120. If I had been traveling a little slower, or skippy had hopped out a second earlier, things would have been very nasty indeed.
      Keep up the good work

    I test rode a Bonneville 1200 T-120 two days ago. WOW, what an awesome motorcycle. Granted I never rode a "Sport Bike" before but hey, in second gear at about 4000 rpm I twisted the throttle all the way and was nearly thrown off the back of the bike ! haha. The only gripe I have with the T-120 is its weight. Otherwise I want one !!! Wish they, Triumph, did not add $3,000 to the price over the 2015 model. But golly gee, it is one marvelous motorcycle. Now I have to decide, the Ducti Scrambler (which I took for a test ride last week) or the Triumph. Decisions decisions ... Maybe both ? Yeah, one can dream huh ? haha My Motto Guzzi V7 II now feels so lame haha but still it, the Guzzi, is what it is and I plan on keeping it forever, or at least for 5 more years (planning on purchasing an extended 5 year warranty for the Guzzi soon. I mean it is paid for so why get rid of it ? Ok later, Be Safe
    *Too much information ? haha Bite Me ;-)

      Excellent comment! Thank you! :-)
      Considering it is ONLY $3,000 more when you look at the design, the engine, the weight... You are going up in engine capacity 50% and yet the weight is the same and the geometry is much better. Such a different motorcycle from the last Bonnie...
      Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment. :-)

      Hey, been a year has it ? haha Anyways, kinda of glad I did not buy the T-120 for now that the Triumph Speed Twin has been introduced it would seem like the type of bike that I would enjy even more so. Can't wait to test ride one. It looks promising in more ways than one. Great retro looks, better all around handling (it would seem) and that 1200cc at 96 HP and almost 100 pounds lighter than the T-120 ! Of course the new MG V85TT also seems like a dream machine. Longer term reviews on the T120? Captain would you do a re-run of the T120 3 years after the original? Mine has done 25,000 miles most of it not done by me; but it rides like a new one. You seemed to be having a jolly time on this bike.

    Captain, LOVE your vlogs
    Have been riding 50yrs. I''ve had 3 Triumphs.
    MY last , was a 2001 Bonneville. Riding a 2011
    Harley StreetBob now. Getting antsy for a NEW BIKE!
    Have commented to you

    My son is OLDER than you.(yes, I'm a GRANPA).
    Been riding 50yrs. Don't know how many bikes I''ve had.
    Been riding a Harley StreetBob, for 5and a half years. It's my FIRST American BIKE. It has a little over 36,500miles.
    Thinking maybe I should trade it for a. Victory

      Lovely to hear from you again! Wow, that's quite an accomplishment! Thank you for your kind words... Yes, you must try all sorts of bikes... I feel that I have tried all the Triumphs now, so on to more marques... Obviously, I will keep my thruxton, but it's always fun to ride what you can't afford! :-)
      36,500 miles isn't bad in 5.5 years! Well done!
      Yes, a Victory sounds like a fitting next step... :-)

    From an old Harley Rider, that Bonnie brings back memories of the 70s, for certain. IDk if I would trade my 1600 Bird for one, but it is tempting.
    Wowed by the Thruxton video as well. Reminds me of the Buells I used to ride a decade ago. But the T-120 really nailed the whole classic theme. Relaxing cruiser, with the old school cool. And, at 6'3", it's nice to see there's a smaller bike that might fit. Pushing around those 800 lb behemoths gets old once you cross into the 50+ age group.
    Have to wait and see how they do the first year out. Maybe next year, if I can make the deal work.

      I think their quality is improving all around. Their badge count on each bike certainly is. Triumph has always made a good bike, just better when the icing is as good as the cake. Stumbled across your channel researching the Thruxton R and Speed Triple R. Looking for the next toy. Right now
      I'm wearing out a Yamaha Star Bolt R-spec. Hope one day you might get a chance to ride one. I really enjoy your reviews and hope you keep them up. Btw please don't stop telling the flasher joke. I didn't buy a Harley when several friends have. I've never need them, but they have.

    I currently own a T100 and a Street Triple so your comparison on the roll ons was great as I was thinking on replacing both with one bike as the T100 doesn't have enough performance to be my only bike. What was surprising was the difference between the new Thruxton and the T120, the T120 is obviously slower than the Street and the Thruxton looks quicker. I prefer the look of the Thruxton, but it doesn't seem to fit me and it more money. I think I need to ride both to make a decision. Thanks for providing the really useful roll ons as its given me a starting point for making my decision.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  7 лет назад

      The scrambler is much lighter to ride and more fun... But the T120 is probably more stable and lower. Both should carry a similar amount of luggage, but up to you... For flickability, the scrambler wins...

    Cannot decide between this t120 and the thurxton....your thoughts? Is the power difference huge? noticeable?

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  7 лет назад

      Supernova12034 it is noticeable. The Thruxton is more fun to ride from a performance and handling point of view, but the T120 is more comfortable and more old school... it's down to taste and comfort versus performance and handling and fun... and price too. The T100 is more than capable too if on an even tighter budget...

    Hey there cpt. As a fellow tall man, if you had to choose between the t100 or the t120 which would you choose, it'll be my second bike, upgrading from a cb500f. On a side note, keep the blue side up from a pc-12 driver stateside.

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  8 лет назад +1

      Thank you Rhodri! That's a tricky one as they are both in the same frame, so comfort wise, there isn't really a difference. I think that the T100 is more authentic classic Bonnie looking, but the T120 has more power but is also heavier and more expensive...
      They are pretty much the only differences although the T120 would have a little more room and be a bit more capable when carrying luggage or a pillion.
      Hope this helps, but I feel that I may have been too vague but they are both very good bikes.

    El Capitano! Love your reviews and the humorous banter that goes with them. Tally Bally Ho indeed! Currently riding a 1998 Harley Davidson Road King but finding that my tastes are changing back to lighter, sportier bikes. Before the Road King I rode a HD Low Rider which was a pleasure to ride in the turns compared to the Road King. Thinking about down sizing and Triumph is in my sights. Haven't decided on the Street Twin or the T120, but wanted your opinion on suspension. The blogs I have seen seem to say "Upgrade the shocks!" What sayeth thou Captain? Cheers!

    • @CaptainRambunctious
      @CaptainRambunctious  8 лет назад

      +Whiz Wheel Very nice...
      Not sure. I wouldn't upgrade the shocks on the T120, but the shocks on the Street Twin are a little unadjustable... There are plenty of fairly cheap upgrades like TEC piggy back shocks... But it didn't cross my mind when I was riding it that they needed changing. The ride was fine...
      If you've come from the Road King you might prefer the power of the T120, but try them both and see what you think...

    • @CaptainRambunctious

      Yes it would. It's a bit heavier than the Street Twin, but not as tall as the street scrambler, which are both easier to ride, but it is nice a low, with lots of grunt. Practice the slow riding to start with as most drops occur at slow speeds with new riders... Otherwise, easy to ride with plenty of power but with a light clutch and without and twitchy throttle snatch...
      Hoe this helps! Definitely test ride one first though... Good luck!

    Great review. Lovely bike. Is the frame - the overall size of the bike - bigger than the 900cc classics? I am 6'4" and always felt that I was too large for them. Hopefully the 1200 will be big enough for me.

      In the original 865cc Bonnies I always felt that my knees were too high up but on this they didn't, so yes, more room and felt bigger but with better handling! 😊👍

    For tooling around mostly on back roads approaching 45 mph, should I get the Bonneville, Thruxton, tiger1050 or trophy? I am 6'2 230

      Bonneville T120 or the Thruxton R if you want to have more performance and the money... But the Tiger or the Trophy would be overkill at those speeds in my opinion... Hope this helps. Apologies for the tardiness in this reply, I've only just found it...
      Thank you for watching and for the comment! :-)

    Hi I plan to demo ride this as soon as I can, at low speed say 30-40 at a constant speed (say riding through a village) does it ride smooth or surge and feel bottled up? I took an r9t out last week and it was lumpy at constant throttle, didn't like it. Cheers m8. Nice vid btw

      Very smooth! 😊 even when not run in... The parallel twin with a balance shaft is smoother than the BMW

    hy, i am about to order a T120. not sure if I should order the V&H exhaust with or without omologation.
    I just don t want to spend 900euro without a sound/performance improvement....what do you think?
    I the one without omologation much better in terms of sound?

      +Tommaso Tini I'm not sure. The Vance and Hynes on the Street Twin were enough of a step up for me, to want to put them on a Thruxton R if I were to get one...
      It depends if you want it be throaty. Of course, all these things can be done further down the line. After all, we found that the pipes on the T120 were perfectly ok.
      I would have thought it would be much better and not obnoxious, but sound is such a subjective topic... I think you either need to hear them or have the standard pipes for a while to see if you like them or not...

    I live in Los Angeles and the streets are not as narrow as say in London and since this is my first Bonnie that I am going to buy I want to make sure I get the right one for looking cool and drive it in town , the city on the freeway and the canyons all those together so which you think would be cooler and perform well in all four places
