      Apart from the blue / white T100... 😆 I like the 900 better with the larger frame and clocks / accessories with the T100 over the Street Twin. However 6th gear is the T120 superpower for cheaper distance riding.

    You're going to love the T120. I'm the proud owner of one myself. What I enjoy so much about the bike are the very high gear ratios, ample amount of torque, comfort, very long service intervals, styling, and possibly the best stock exhaust sound in the business. Plus cruise control is a nice bonus. Enjoy!!!

      Can I ask if your T120 suffers from really bad wind noise above 40mph. I’m used to riding naked bikes but I have never had so much wind noise on a bike ? Never really thought about it before but this is bad -for me anyhow!!

      @@gregs5738 thanks 👍🏻I don’t get turbulence either. Just really loud wind noise to deafening levels. I find this So odd as same helmet on previous bikes🤷🏼‍♂️ certainly wouldn’t be able to ride far if I forgot earplugs. Apart from the noise love the bike in every other aspect.

    Arrived on my PCX 125 at my local dealer one afternoon three weeks back and said, "If I can ride one home today you can sell me a Bonneville," Passing on the offer of a test ride, I phoned my wife, "they're just prepping a new T120 Black Gold Line, expect me home about five." So my first ride on a T120 was a pitch-black December evening and except for a couple of days when it was seriously sub zero have ridden it every day since 🙂

    They are nice and smooth as silk and devour miles. I bought a T-120 Black new in 2016. Unfortunately I had gearbox problems one year out of warranty and finally the rear engine/gearbox mount cracked right through the crankcase last year. Triumph Australia came through with replacement cases but it would have cost me $2000 to fix. But by then I’d had enough and traded it on a 2011 Sprint GT. The T-120 had been meticulously maintained, dealer serviced, and generally well looked after. Also had Bitubo suspension which improved it no end. Only 27,000 on the clock.
    It was going to be my forever ride. Avoid the Triumph waxed canvas panniers - they look good for a while but carry very little and eventually distort. I’m hoping they’ve addressed the issues with the early generation T-120, but even these had superb fit and finish. Also extremely tiresome listening to those that compare the Royal Enfield offerings with the equivalent Triumph. There’s much more technology and sophistication.

    • @MOTOUK1
      @MOTOUK1  Год назад +2

      Hi Dave, sorry to hear about your issues and had heard regarding earlier gen issues. I did address this and thankfully on new model latest gen it’s all sorted. 👍

    I’m extremely happy you like it as I do my one. Yes you’re correct about the tyres. I own an Merlin Edale motorcycle jacket. Awesome. Slightly heavy jacket but when you’re on the bike you don’t really feel the weight.
    I’ve put Triumph bar end mirrors on mine. Big difference. A lot of people always have difficulty finding the USB patch under the seat. Chalk and cheese the RE interceptor and the Triumph. I also saved up for mine.
    Happy riding your new motorcycle.
    Cheers.

    looks a quality solid machine, the sound on ignition was awesome, sounds of the good old days, can't go wrong with black. I am road salted in just now, council insists on salting the roads here every evening at 6pm even though the temps are well above freezing, rain now expected to wash it away hopefully, ride safe and take care, it's the silly season on the road at this time of year.

    I paid 12,500 USD for mine in June and I really like the way this bike makes me feel. I traded for a black seat at the dealership, just didn't like the look of the brown. It's solidly built, handles well, and has good power. Again, I really like the way I feel when riding mine, they're not as common in the US as they are in the UK for obvious reasons. I also own a TS660 for lightweight touring.

    Nick, this is the first time I have watched one of your videos. I enjoyed it very much and I will subscribe as soon as I finish this reply. I have a 2022 red and silver which I like very much. I have owned several bikes, multi brands but this one is the best. I bought mine just over a year ago and have put just over 5,000 miles on it. I put bar end mirrors on it, they are much better with rearward vision. The rear tire was worn out just short of the 5,000 miles. I installed Avon Storms a vast improvement over stock. Good luck with yours.

    They are beautiful bikes. I’l also glad to hear that slow speed roll off/roll on fueling has been sorted out. May I suggest two teeny-weeny improvements? 1. Get a black front mudguard extender to cut down the muck flung from the road and 2. Buy some black, self-adhesive vinyl to cover the “white” side of the licence plate. It finishes the rear end.
    I too have a Bonneville T120. A green one with chrome wheels. With regard to tyres, when my original Phantoms wore out I replaced them with Avon Spirit ST’s. They transformed the handling.

But I am a tightwad and the T120 in the states cost about 13,500. I can buy two Royal Enfield INt 650's or Super Metoers 650''s for the same money. Doesn’t the T 120 come with heats grips? If not, IMHO I would definitely get them. You spoke about the R.E. Interceptor. I think for the price point they’re a good choice but not in the league of a Triumph. Personally the T-120 would be the bike for me. It’s nice to hear about a 10,000 mile service interval but for me I’d be doing oil changes at 5,000 miles. It’s all good!

    So this is your personal bike? I bought the same brake reservoir cover for my 2005 T 100. I looked at many and chose that one as u did. Blacks alright, but I think it'd get old. Plus the lines of the bike are invisible with an all black bike. You're right, the chrome stuff pops out, the problem is there's not enough chrome when so much is black. But to each his own. Oh I'd get the barends. I have them and they do add to the look of the bike.
    Your 120 looks great and I agree the 1200 engine will run longer without strain. But I think it's all in that 6th gear. I think the t100 would do nicely cruising at 75 mph at a nice 3 or 4 thou rpm if it had that 1 more gear. Ride safe

    Looking at having one of these as a second bike (have a 1250GS). Have you ridden the pre facelift (Euro4) model and is there much difference between the two if you have? Also, I think it's a bit naughty of Triumph to omit the centre stand and heated grips as standard. They were standard on the Euro4. Even the Interceptor has a centre stand! Enjoyed the video and look forward to seeing more.

    • @MOTOUK1
      @MOTOUK1  Год назад

      Hi Keith, thanks for tuning in, I believe the fuel injection throttle to be smoother on latest model. That said I’ve not ridden Euro 4 one but a friend has one. I agree centre stand makes sense to add one as how else do you lube the chain. I have one on order. As for heated grips I don’t use but favour heated battery gloves so I can ride both my bikes easier and much warmer imo. Cheers and have a great Christmas 🎅 🍺

    Not often you see more "marture" guys going for the all black look. How does it compare to the 900? Lot of folks say the 900 is more agile and better in the corners. However I guess the 1200 would make a better long distance/tourer bike.

    • @MOTOUK1
      @MOTOUK1  Год назад

      Hi Mark 👋 thanks for tuning in. Yes I am not don’t of too much chrome. TBH the T100 dimensions are identical except 1.5mm on trail to the T120. The weight on the T120 is 8kg heavier. I’ve ridden back to back and also at two weeks each bike back to back and they both feel very similar. T120 up on power as you would expect. Has twin disks so better stopping lower. Cruise control and 6 gears. So I went for this as I wanted all these features so I could use on some longer trips. Compared to my other bike Yamaha MT10SP I love how I get 65mph on the T120 compared to the Yamaha 🤣🤣

    Thanks for the great vid. I noticed that you mentioned that you were intending on doing more touring on your 1200 Bonneville. I was wondering if you'd ever considered fitting a fly screen. Did you decide against it, and if so why ? I myself am wondering whether it would be worthwhile fitting one to my Bonneville. Best Regards, Tim

    • @MOTOUK1
      @MOTOUK1  Год назад +2

      Hi Tim 👋 thanks for tuning in. So for me couple reasons I won’t be fitting one. First is the looks, second being wind buffeting which you get with most screens, this creates noise around the helmet and unless your wearing earplugs can be very tiring on long journeys. I am 6,2 tall so any screen even on adventure bikes I have an issue.
      I prefer clean air no screen that way less noise. Ok you get more pressure on chest from the wind blast but actually found this to be helpful ad it pushes you back slightly releasing any pressure leaning on your wrists if the bike has a canted forward riding position. Ok I know the Bonneville is very upright though.
      At 70 mph I’ve found the Bonneville to be ok tbh
      Planning a Spanish tour in august around 2500 miles 👍
      Cheers

    • @MOTOUK1
      @MOTOUK1  Год назад

      Thanks buddy 👍 Speed twin a little more sporty, riding position, engine has a 18 more HP and 7 more Nm of torque but at slightly higher revs, the T120 torque is lower down, so same engine different tune and I’m not sure if internals are different probably. Speed twin has better brakes, suspension etc. think of the speed twin as a sporty naked bike and the T120 a Classic.
      Have a good one and look forward to some warmer weather in spring.
      No never ridden a thunderbird

    • @johnbentall5105
      @johnbentall5105 Год назад

      The T120 has more seat room for a pillion and the hard ABS pannier options (i.e. Givi) are much easier to put together for the T120. Speed Twin accelerates much better thanks to its lower gearing. I wanted a machine with 2-up touring potential so went for the T120. Speed Twin is for sportier 1-up touring or two-up with soft or the modern, semi-hard panniers. Brakes better on the Speed Twin also, but perfectly adequate on the T120.
      Thunderbird - 20% more power (90- 95 BHP) but 40% more weight. Yikes!
