Still don't like it, BUT the auto-cue and fake reading of the paper script is a lot better (think of all the paper you can save!) ... it brings it all back together as one, rather than the "here's a bit from Danny. Here's a bit from Simon. Here's Danny again. Back to Simon". I didn't even finish watching the last one, but 10mins in to this one, have to say, reading from the eye line... that fixed it. Btw, every now and then, Peter could be a cabbage with a face drawn on... looking up, or looking surprised, turn it round for different faces. Just a couple of times, to raise awareness of all the people who are in persistent vegetative state, wasting electricity.
for the visa machines, industry machines and parts are insane, i work in a industry settings and the cost of these things are insane, computer with a fucking duo core cpu costs like 3k...
I personally believe BB was better before the desk. There is something about Simon doing all those gestures that really drive the point in, even when his bionic posterior disconnects there is something to that. Also how satisfying would the paper slaps be while sitting? I guess we will never know 🤷

This might be the most brain blaze the channel has ever been. Completely off the rails, tangent wild, Simon coked up to his eyeballs doing merch for another channel, Danny still locked in the basement and Sam, poor Sam, trying to edit this mess into something resembling a show. Simon... we love the show, the tangents, but we miss you roaming... This is your best channel, it may not be the most profitable or informative, but its easily the most entertaining. Especially when your ripping the shit out of Lord of the Rings.
I love the circle of life on this channel. First, Simon gets an idea from something, often a video he already posted that did well. Then Danny writes a script lambasting Simon's decision making. Simon then reacts to said script while reading it. Then the editor reacts to simon with memes, making the video do well. Then simon gets an idea to do a part two. And the circle repeats.
I certainly can understand Simon sitting down during these, as they tend to be lengthy, but I admit I prefer a less intentionally chopped-up main story. His tangents are fun when they spring up organically. Intentionally chopping things into segments makes it feel less spontaneous and takes me out of the story in a way that Simon's tangents do not. But, like, that's just my opinion.

I know the team involved have a lot of different factors to take into account and the idea is to make the channel as successful as possible. But if I want to see Simon chilling at a desk, I can watch about 74 other channels for that. I liked OGBB's absurdity, rampant ADHD, impenetrability and in-jokes. It's still great. But I initially came here for the Simon and stayed for the ridiculous script slapping, whingeing about having sore legs, and introductions that were basically a tangent of a tangent of a tangent. I guess there's a lot of things with AdSense and views that we don't see, and they are looking at new directions. But the past isn't *always* the worst.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. It's just totally not the spirit of the show to have Simon sitting at a desk... It just kills what made this show stand out, extremely enjoyable and very dynamic... I understand Simon's going through a huge "wanna turn everything into a Podcast" phase, but he should REALLY listen to the huge amount of long time fans that give vital feedback! It's just like you said: if I wanted to watch a show where Simon is sitting, I'd choose one of his 74 other channels. It's sad to see BB go down this path. It's still very good, but it's lost its spark and its soul...
100% agree. I don't mind if he peppers in a few of these news desk style videos but watching Fact Boi roam and rant and unplug his bionic arse occasionally is BB.
That ATM thing actually happened to my parents once. They wanted to take out $50, got $1,200. After a few days they got an angry call from the bank saying they were gonna take it out of their account, they'd go into negative, get an overdraft fee, and they were bad people. My parents just said, "do you want the money back?" They hadn't spent it, they'd just left it at home. The bank was stunned they hadn't tried to get away with it. They hadn't tried to get away with it because they weren't stupid.
Why didn't they just drive to the nearest bank branch and talk to someone and deposit the overdrawn cash back into their account? Seems fair enough that the bank thought your folks weren't going to have to do anything about the erroronous transaction since your parents didn't get in contact and they had to after 2 days.

The only way to react to this is to do what they did, wait that the bank figures out that this happened and then offer to return the money
My dude, I listen to these in the background first w/o watching, more delineation between segments is NEEDED! it was like dripping water into a cup of water and trying to figure out where the drop went. Second, I love all the asides, Danny's long intros, and your batshit rants, it is what makes this channel great. I watch a few of your channels, decoding the unknown,, into the shadows, and casual criminalist. All three have a theme which makes them great and they are a joy to listen to while gaming and are a highlight of my week. Business and Brain blaze are very hit or miss, when they hit they are better than watching Cheech and Chong movies while stoned, when they miss it is almost ear rape. My recommendation for a theme for BB is to keep original to OGBB, because those and your florida man episodes are AWESOME! it doesn't need to be about business, it needs to be a man going apeshit on camera with memes to back up a "plot?". That in my opinion is OGBB, and btw, standing or sitting does not make much of a difference, but Danny's intros do make a HUGE difference because you tend to do into rant mode more organically.

Friend of mine was a technician for NCR pre-COVID and those ATM machines are $15,000+ (at least here in the US). The advanced ones that dispense large and small denominations (50s and 100s down to 5s) are even more expensive due to needing multiple trays and bigger computers. That's why most of those types of machines are typically kept _inside_ large branches. Not cheap like the ones you find in bars, which are usually kept stocked by the bar ownership.
That is not the only reason they are kept inside. My brother used to work for a company that serviced ATMs and my then husband asked them if they held a million dollars. My brother’s reply was “Maybe the smaller ones.”
In the past (94-96’ish) the only ATMs in Vegas that had $100s was in casinos. The normal ‘cassettes’ hold, in $20s, at most $80k, but putting that much in there would usually result in the machine jamming. I think the largest, in the amount of cash, of the 6-7 ATMs I installed when Sunset Station (casino) opened up, held around $350k. We did have a few cases of the bank vault mixing $1s, $5s, $50s, $100s into a fill bag that was only supposed to have $20s in it.

ironically, the Chinese ending of Fight Club is how the book actually ends, and The Narrator being discharged from a mental hospital (which just happened to by run by members of Project: Mayhem, of course) in 2012 was the beginning of the Fight Club 2 graphic novel.

The book was such a drag to read, would anybody even have read that without the movie? All i can remember about the graphic novel is how underwhelming it was. David Fincher is a great director, Palahniuk is a mediocre writer

@@RadenWA not really, more a case of "written ending just would not work in the visual medium". the director was David Fincher, who also did Seven, Gone Girl, The Social Network, just a ton of top notch, psychological films. so no, "more explosions!" was not his concern. the book and movie have a shit-ton of differences, but it's mainly due to how each is being presented: a book vs a movie. and both play with the consumer's perceptions excellently. Fincher couldn't do a direct adaption, but he definitely did it right.

I liked the old format better. I think Simon just didn't want to stand up anymore, tripping over his mic cable, and needed to come up with a reason to always be seated. Magic Spoon is best eaten in a standing position, won't someone think of the Sponsors?!!?
No he said he changed because the show stopped growing, people clearly didnt like the format and were no longer tuning in. He was correct and now has doubled the number of subscribers. I like it way better myself. Way too much stupid fucking shit all the time before. For some absolutely non sensical reason as an adult i dont really enjoy watching people fart every 30 seconds. So many annoying things in the old format. Glad changing the format worked out so well for him.
Well, having Simon sit down and wear a tie has totally failed to tame his tendency to go off on massive tangents. I think this Blaze had about three words of tangent for every word from the script.

9:00 - Politics and extremes. "The law of the stick" - a friend came up with or quoted this at me when we were hanging out after a D&D game as kids. Push too hard on any end of the stick and the other side comes up to smack you over the head. That's politics. Any extreme is bad... balance is where things works. Thus opposites like Facism (Nazi) and Oligarchy (China) are both bad. And Absolute Democracy gives you the French Revolution while Absolute Monarchy gives you the um... French Revolution. The French Revolution is a perfect case study in 'too much of anything is toxic...'
But the middle is also terrible. It creates a world where you can't have food to eat or a place to live because you don't know how to answer the question, "where do you see yourself in five years," or "why did you spend eight years at the same job without getting a promotion?" There is a reason extremist populists get power in the first place, the status quo is also a nightmare.
This format with the little interlude is fun, as are your side stories. They are interesting tidbits and also make the video longer; which is great because I “watch” it as a podcast while playing Pokémon Go (yep, still playing that.) I look for longer form content and content where seeing the screen isn’t needed to understand context.
I loved the kind of chaotic energy that Brain Blaze had before. I do like the idea for the news segment, but maybe just like here and there. Not every episode. Just my opinion. Thanks for the awesome content!

I ask this because you haven't lost your place in the script as far as I can tell, you don't seem to be looking down at the paper long enough to account for the length of your sentence and finally, you go right on with the script straight after a Tangent while still looking into the camera. There was a video game (I think it was called "Homefront"?) That had almost the same plot as that remake of Red Dawn and it was changed in basically the same way.
30:30: When I lived in Bangkok, I saw a movie that had a major scene right outside the movie theater where I was watching the movie! I was literally inside the building that was behind the characters in the movie I was watching inside that building! When I lived in Tokyo I would often see my office building in movies, but the funniest story is when I rode the train to the middle of Tokyo to meet for a TV shoot and then rode with the crew all the way back to where I lived for filming. I used to act on Japanese TV, commercials, and movies, and for one shoot I rode the train for 30 minutes to the meeting point, then with the crew and actors all gathered, we piled into several vans as per usual and went off to the filming point. I remarked about how close we were to my apartment as we rode to our destination, and then finally we passed my building and then parked ~100 meters down the road to film in a nearby park. I was in a TV spot that had my apartment in the background! Last story: I was on that particular TV show often, starting with bit roles and eventually taking more prominent roles until I was the main character in a few episodes. During one shoot when I was the main character, there was a flashback to a previous episode from long ago when I had been doing bit parts. When I started taking major roles in this show I was usually some kind of bad guy or suspected bad guy-a menace-type character-and in this episode I was the main suspect in a crime (though I was a red herring), and the flashback was meant to show a similar crime solved by the same forensic doctor, and it showed me as a police officer finding a major clue! I guess in this show I used to be a police officer and then decided to upgrade my life to creepy menace who everyone thinks did the crime but actually not!

ironically, the Chinese ending of Fight Club is how the book actually ends, and The Narrator being discharged from a mental hospital (which just happened to by run by members of Project: Mayhem, of course) in 2012 was the beginning of the Fight Club 2 graphic novel.
cool point. Fight Club is considered one of the most misunderstood movies ever. The message of the book got lost with the gloss of presentation and the charisma of Brad Pitt.
The book was such a drag to read, would anybody even have read that without the movie? All i can remember about the graphic novel is how underwhelming it was. David Fincher is a great director, Palahniuk is a mediocre writer
So was it basically another case of a normal book picked by a Hollywood director that went “This would sell better with more EXPLOSION and COLLATERAL DAMAGE!!”

the director was David Fincher, who also did Seven, Gone Girl, The Social Network, just a ton of top notch, psychological films. so no, "more explosions!" was not his concern.
the book and movie have a shit-ton of differences, but it's mainly due to how each is being presented: a book vs a movie. and both play with the consumer's perceptions excellently. Fincher couldn't do a direct adaption, but he definitely did it right.

I think I got almost as excited as Simon about the notebook; I have been waiting for the new sample to arrive for The Casual Criminalist, and it looks awesome!

I liked the old format better. I think Simon just didn't want to stand up anymore, tripping over his mic cable, and needed to come up with a reason to always be seated. Magic Spoon is best eaten in a standing position, won't someone think of the Sponsors?!!?
No he said he changed because the show stopped growing, people clearly didnt like the format and were no longer tuning in. He was correct and now has doubled the number of subscribers. I like it way better myself. Way too much stupid fucking shit all the time before. For some absolutely non sensical reason as an adult i dont really enjoy watching people fart every 30 seconds. So many annoying things in the old format. Glad changing the format worked out so well for him.

Thus opposites like Facism (Nazi) and Oligarchy (China) are both bad. And Absolute Democracy gives you the French Revolution while Absolute Monarchy gives you the um... French Revolution. The French Revolution is a perfect case study in 'too much of anything is toxic...'

It creates a world where you can't have food to eat or a place to live because you don't know how to answer the question, "where do you see yourself in five years," or "why did you spend eight years at the same job without getting a promotion?" There is a reason extremist populists get power in the first place, the status quo is also a nightmare.
This format with the little interlude is fun, as are your side stories. They are interesting tidbits and also make the video longer; which is great because I “watch” it as a podcast while playing Pokémon Go (yep, still playing that.) I look for longer form content and content where seeing the screen isn’t needed to understand context.
I loved the kind of chaotic energy that Brain Blaze had before. I do like the idea for the news segment, but maybe just like here and there. Not every episode. Just my opinion. Thanks for the awesome content!

Hey Simon, are you reading of a Teleprompt and faking the script read? I ask this because you haven't lost your place in the script as far as I can tell, you don't seem to be looking down at the paper long enough to account for the length of your sentence and finally, you go right on with the script straight after a Tangent while still looking into the camera.
If thats the case Well Done 👍👏
If not, Then you need to Work on pretending to read the script while reading of the Teleprompt 🤫👍👍

There was a video game (I think it was called "Homefront"?) That had almost the same plot as that remake of Red Dawn and it was changed in basically the same way.

30:30: When I lived in Bangkok, I saw a movie that had a major scene right outside the movie theater where I was watching the movie! I was literally inside the building that was behind the characters in the movie I was watching inside that building!
When I lived in Tokyo I would often see my office building in movies, but the funniest story is when I rode the train to the middle of Tokyo to meet for a TV shoot and then rode with the crew all the way back to where I lived for filming. I used to act on Japanese TV, commercials, and movies, and for one shoot I rode the train for 30 minutes to the meeting point, then with the crew and actors all gathered, we piled into several vans as per usual and went off to the filming point. I remarked about how close we were to my apartment as we rode to our destination, and then finally we passed my building and then parked ~100 meters down the road to film in a nearby park.
I was in a TV spot that had my apartment in the background!
Last story: I was on that particular TV show often, starting with bit roles and eventually taking more prominent roles until I was the main character in a few episodes.
During one shoot when I was the main character, there was a flashback to a previous episode from long ago when I had been doing bit parts. When I started taking major roles in this show I was usually some kind of bad guy or suspected bad guy-a menace-type character-and in this episode I was the main suspect in a crime (though I was a red herring), and the flashback was meant to show a similar crime solved by the same forensic doctor, and it showed me as a police officer finding a major clue!
I guess in this show I used to be a police officer and then decided to upgrade my life to creepy menace who everyone thinks did the crime but actually not!
