This disassembly video is super-helpful! I have a Dell 3007wfp that has yellowed so severely that the screen has become dim, and it significantly impacts any graphic design i produce on it. I had assumed the it was the backlights that were failing, but after seeing this video, it demonstrates that it is more likely the aging of the surface film itself.
hi, do you know what would cause shadowing on the side of a monitor? theres a small streak on the side of my monitor that shows after its been on for a while. its like a shadow that shows on darker colors, like brown, dark blue, green etc. however on white there is no shadow. if you could let me know id appreciate it. thanks
Thanks for this great video - It has pretty much convinced me there is nothing much I can do about my 3007WFP-HC that has developed a gray shadow/crease on the left side (very visible on medium backgrounds) after I left the screen on once for more than 24 hours... My guess is it overheated and some of the diffusing screens must have warped... Do you know of a source for these diffusers? I guess it's high time we reintroduced screen savers that turn the lamps off or at least put them in minimum power mode for cooling, don't you think?
