Well I wouldn’t say Peter is just quitting I think Peter just needs a break
Miles literally said: “Go be a Peter Parker for a while” meaning he should take some time off. But in no sense retire or quit permanently.
Lemme clear something up, he isn’t quitting or retiring. He just isn’t devoting all his time to Spider-Man and leaving that to miles. So he’s still gonna be there for the big stuff just not patrolling the city.

Mislabeled. He's absolutely NOT quitting, just spending more time with MJ. You can play as Peter immediately after this scene and he's absolutely going to be in the next game and almost certainly in any DLC. I swear, he takes a five minute break and some people think he's abandoning his responsibility and giving it to Miles. Who happens to be Afro-Hispanic, yes, so there is a racial element in comments which claim that a white guy's mantle is being "passed on", which it totally isn't. Seriously, they just gave Parker new symbiote powers in the form of anti-venom. You think he's quitting now? Of course not.

Why couldn't this have been the take on ultimate spider man??....im so annoyed.....tho now I'm glad knowing that now there is a universe that peter does grow...he does find happiness ...he Co exists with Miles as a mentor .....thankyou insomniac.
The beginning of the game talked about balance and I think that's what he's doing here
Miles was the MVP for this game. He saved everyone, including Peter.
My take on this is Peter is definitely taking a step back and letting Miles take over as the main Spider-Man, with Peter kinda being on reserve. Only really joining in things Miles can’t do by himself and needs a second Spider-Man for, which will probably be Spider-Man 3 when Goblin joins the scene.
Peter isn't retiring he just taking a break from being spider man he's be back swinging around in next game I'm sure of it.
